It's a meme that originated at 4chan and then spread.

It's origin was kinda like a prank that also originated at 4chan, people were telling others about some shocking, unbelievable, or even epic news (a new DP album for example) and placing a link to the article/source, but in reality, the link directed you to a picture of a duck with four wheels (I dunno why The Penguin's Duckmobile from Batman Returns comes to my mind whenever I read/type that LOL!), and on the pic it wrote "You've been Duckroll'd".

Somebody made a spin-off outta the prank, and instead of the duck's pic, he posted a link to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" music video, and attached to it was the message "You've been Rickroll'd", the idea spread, and the rest is history.

I couldn't believe it when I saw that Rick Rolling actually spread outside the internet, even on National TV news broadcasts, news anchors were getting Rickroll'd!
