Just flew in from Youmacon and boy are my arms tired.... seriously, I am barely clinging to my waking state.

Anyways, I had the opening DJ set, which I wore my new EL wire suit for along with my old helmet. I customized some Omnisistem laser gloves and also had an Omnisistem Planet Galaxy behind me. Tim also brought his Interstella costumes out (complete with flashing LEDs and el-wire-strung guitars). I knew he was working on these, but didn't know he was at the con. As I was on my way to open the dance, I saw him and his girl dressed as Arpegius and Stella and yelled "TIM!!! OMG! You finished them?" I then demanded that they be up on stage with me. IT WAS AWESOME. We simultaneously fulfilled each others Daft Punk dreams. For my short 45 minute set, I spun stuff like DP, Justice, Deadmau5, Fedde Le Grand, Slipmatt, Dayman, Busy P, Sebastian, and much more. The video below shows when I was doing DJ Alive's remake of One More Time - Aerodynamic

Please note that this is just a video that someone already uploaded. I'll be uploading some better videos soon enough. Enjoy for now!

Youmacon?! But that's in my neck of the woods! Drat and blast, I wish I had known you were there! I would have come specifically to see your set. Snap. I don't think I'm heading to aCen this year either. :\

Oooooookaaaaaaay.... apparently, I don't have any videos D:
I gave my video camera to someone so they could film the whole thing, but after the con, I looked through every bit of DV tape I had and found absolutely no footage of the convention. Apparently, they didn't hit the record button or something (this step is very important!)
*sigh*

Anyways, I guess I'll explain what I did. Since I can't see or hear very well with the helmet, I mixed in Ableton. This is the first time I used Ableton for simply playing and mixing clips (DJing) as opposed to my usual synthesizer-playing. I was mixing four channels of music and I had opened up a D16 Drumazon and D16 Nepheton for playing midi drum clips that I pre-programmed. I used a Behringer BCR2000 for controlling levels, EQ, tempo, and beat repeat effects. I used my buddy's Axiom 49 for triggering all of the midi clips. This was all done on my Spectral RM7100. Don't ya just love technology? Of course, I keep my turntables handy in case something goes wrong, but I'm just crazy about Ableton. When you don't have to worry about beat-matching, there's so much more that can be done on top of what you're doing to make your show 10x more awesome (in my case, I was covered in leather and didn't have full use of my hands)

As for my suit, I picked up an awesome 80s Kaneda-like motorcycle jacket and red racing pants from a vintage clothing store here in Chicago. (I didn't sew this jacket) For this costume, I added OVER 200 FT of el wire while adopting enlighted.com's method of doubling up the 2.5mm wire so that it produces a thick, bright line.

In other news, Deadmau5 announced a video contest. Just send in an awesome deadmau5y video and the winner gets two paid trips to the Groove Cruise with DM plus some extra spending cash. So yeah, my EL wire suit will be making a comeback (and this time I'll actually have a video). We're basically doing a DM + DP mashup video with costumes and stuff.

Dags == Got any more pics of your new suit? Would love to see it in better detail. Can't find any pics on Cosplay.Com from Youmacon.
