Here is the thread to chat all about, and ask questions about Ableton Live. So talk away.
To start I have one question. Is there a way you can immediately activate a beat repeat effect from an assigned button without just turning the effect on and off?

I dunno, I've got music this afternoon, I'll ask my teacher coz we use it at college, I'll get back to you.
I love ableton though, it's really quite easy when you know what you're doing lol

Click on Key on the top right corner. After that click on the beat repeat on/off button and asign a key

I like Live for well a LIVE setting. But I honestly can't see how people could use it as a DAW. It's too complicated to do things that are SO MUCH EASIER in Pro Tools

Using it as an actual DAW for music creation, it's terribly annoying. Automating plug-ins, editing recorded audio, and even the midi is kinda annoying. But that's just my opinion, I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just telling you how I tired to use it. It's amazing for live performance though. I can export the different loops from Pro Tools, put them in Ableton, and mix and mash loops from different songs.

I'm using CUbase SX3 and Reason for production then after looking at all the tutorials am going to try use ableton to put together some loopage and smash it to pieces. Like someone was struggling earlier in this thread though, it depends on how easy and timely things can be triggered that will determine how effective it actually is as a live tool, in principle it's second to none.
Daft punk seemed to do very little live with ableton, more add to a sequenced set (in 2007) this would not be my preference but I would do it like that if necessary, I'd like it to be more live.
