for bootcamp you will need a windows installation disc and its code. I suggest using something like parallels desktop or vmware fusion, there better.

The Safari problem is Bi*ch, honest to god, I have it quit on youtube and just about every other video site about every 3 videos. it drives me nuts, Firefox mac is FUGLY. Camino is just about bearable IMHO.

Msn quits never happen to me, however, I suggest using Adium, a big msn messenger application, it supports everything but, microphone and webcam.

How did you loose your harddrive? ejected it?

oh come on. every time i've ever heard that joke it's always been "oh, i see your problem. you're using a PC." :P

that being said, sometimes Macs are a pain, but i've had much, much less trouble with them than i've had with Windows computers. to each his own. shrug.

:(

Damn Mac's.

Everytime I say to myself "thats a not bad price.."

for any apple product. Like as soon as I start saving for it, the price goes up.

Its just... Racist.

For example..

iMac was $999 (CDN) [starting price]

I think about it, and start saving..

BAM. Its $1399 [starting price]

as someone who finally replaced her ailing Mac after over a year, i can totally sympathize. i wanted a MBP at first, but just got the regular (but newer) MacBook instead--mainly because of the price. (also because i realized i didn't actually need most of the specs that are on MBP but not on MacBooks...) i'm pretty happy with it, though! it's way cool. :3

they usually have a fairly good sale right before school starts up in the mid-/late-summer and fall, though. (usually you can get like a free/rebate on an iPod and printer in addition to some discount.) also, you should look and see if you can get an educational discount in the education store (you have to find your school in a list). last but not least, you could look around in the refurb section for cheaper stuff, but i've never bought a refurb, so i can't really say if that's a good choice or not. (but it's definitely cheaper!)

Thanks for the info.

I know..

When i fantisise about something, I must know all options.

It looks like getting one in the late summer would be my best bet.

I would get it refurb. (i know its guranteed quality..) but the there isn't really any good deals..

There was.. but not at the moment anyways.

ps. Did anyone see the new Shuffles? They are super sexy! I really like how it tells you, with a voice, what song your listening to/what playlist. Thats pretty neat.

Its really neat and all, but your better off getting a nano if you want a 4gb ipod.

$99 cdn for the new 4 gb shuffle, $169 for 8gb nano (and I've seen like $130 for it elsewhere)

yeah i saw those yesterday. dude, smaller than a KEY. next thing we know, ipods will be little things that can actually fit in your ear.

and yeah, the voice is pretty cool. it just sounds a little too pre-programmed and choppy for my liking.

i was thinking that it kind of was... shall we have a Mac thread? or just turn this one into one?

and i've only seen the shuffles in a little ad on the apple homepage. never had any interest in them, and i doubt i will. i rather carry my entire library with me (or in the case of my ancient 40gig iPod, as much of it as possible) just in case.

DJPixcell

same.

and yeah we should deffenitly have a Mac.. scratch that. Apple thread.

Since they always are coming out with something new, and everybody wants what they have..

Lol I never liked the shuffles either, I still don't want one. But its good to see the perfected the design of a screen-less iPod.

Snow leopard or lion?

I bought Lion. It rocks!

So much better than the previous (S.L), everything seems more simple, looking like the iPod/iPhone OS for apps, scrolling, zoom in/out with the trackpad...well, so much better!
