I don't use any programs. It's all raw. occationally I'll mess around with the contrast, but thats about it. ANd my art is all hand craft.

(Also, so you don't get shouted at by our mods, lol, you can edit your post with the edit button in the bottom right hand corner instead of double posting)

I'm more into art than graphic design, but love all sorts of design, particularly 2D though. I've got a deviantart that hasn't got a whole lot of my stuff on it, but it has some - username is tomatorama.

The actual graphic work I get is fairly boring! Would rather illustrate.

I have to do graphic design as part of my engineering course at school. I'm good at it apparently. Probably coz I'm good at drawing... which was a talent I never knew I had until art class a few years ago.

Our Graphics Engineering teacher is a b**** though. We all hate her with a passion :@

and come to think of it... my old art teacher was just as bad as her. Maybe I only perform well with bad teachers lol.

Almost all of ours at college where really pretenious.

i have a problem, i'm good at drawing with my hands. but i'm awful at drawing on the computer. i can only do like stick figure stuff (mostly animations). any tips how i could get better at making more detailed images without taking so much time (since i'm more into animations than just pictures, and animations require making many pictures quickly)?

Get a tablet, you just draw on that and it comes up on the screen.

I've never liked tablets. Tablets have never worked for me. I have a strange drawing technique where I draw tons of lines. I never use straight, geometrical lines. I can only draw well with pencils with deadly-sharp points.

dude! omg! that's how i draw too! my friend at school says my style is weird since 1 line for him = about 30 lines for me.

art? yes.

graphic design? not so much...

like i'm more of a fine-arts kind of person, but i'm studying printmaking, so that's fairly graphic as far as traditional artmaking goes.

i'm studying to teach art one day. my dA is in my sig, but it is sorely out of date.

Me neither, because I have become so accustomed to using a mouse, practice makes you good.

Also drawing tons of lines instead of geometric lines is a good drawing technique. Especially for realistic drawings, as there are no lines like people tend to draw IRL.

Kinda, but not building plans. We design an object, for example we're making light-dependant ambient lamps at the moment, and we draw it in a whole different variety of ways and scale it down accurately. Then, following our drawings, we actually make it.

Making it is the fun part :)

Actually the product design class in our school do too much designing and it sounds really boring. With us it's just like 3 designs, finished, make it. :D

Also, what's package designing? Is that like when you design boxes of chocolates and stuff?

XxHUMAN909xX
10th Sep 2009, 22:36
Yea designing the packaging for all different types of products. Like you said chocolates or other desserts. Wine etc.
I love it theres nothing that sells a product more than a sweet package
