facetoface

"You believe that daft punk will release a new album different from the movie Itron?

What style can we hear in the movie Itron, sound discovery, Human After All sound, or a new style "alien" and more daft punk than ever?

i hope answers! hehehe

I don't get why people in general should think the TRON soundtrack is the only upcoming Daft Punk release. It's a soundtrack Daft Punk style, not a Daft Punk album.
This is the TRON Legacy theme, reworked by Cryda Luv almost a year ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrBWPAGcrDs It sounds very futuristic but you can also hear it features the magic Dat Punk ingredients/sound.

And I think a new album a while after TRON is possible. But Homework, Discovery and Human After All were all three very different so I don't know what to expect.

Perhaps they have been developing a disc in parallel. Taking advantage of the boom of the movie ... I would not rule out at least one more single with daft punk style. ;)

I've stated many time that I'd like to hear DP go back to their roots and release another Homework-ish abum. Don;t get me wrong, I LOVED Dicovery and HAA... but there was and still is something about Homework that pushes all the right buttons.

I do agree, FerreNL. I think the problem lies int he fact that DP wait like two more years to release ANY work. Its hard enough to wait 3 years, but 5 years?? I think most people are just assuming that the past 5 years have been them perfecting the Tron: Legacy OST. Mind you, if the theme that they played at Flynn's is a foreshadowing of what the OST will be like, it rox my sox with great explosions of massive love in my eardrums fo' life.

Teehee...

they wont go homework on tron
maybe in the new album
they need to go a little bit or itll be too far off from what people have known to love them for

I think for the Tron soundtrack they're going to make it sound as fitting as possible, while retaining some of that Daft Punk song.

Look at the soundtrack for Irreversible. Spinal Scratch sounds definitely like a T.Bang track, but the rest of the album...not really.

All three ablum styles mixed with something new and a little bit of that Daft Punk magic would make me a very very happy person.

from what i've heard the sound track is going to sound alot like Too Long/Steam Machine from Alive 2007 (if you remove the too long a nd steam machine parts). If they are going to make a new album, I wouldn't expect any sort of previous sound. They always push there limits to create a new unique sound and this album shouldn't be any different.

We've dubbed that part "Aura Rock", many of us predicted that would be their style for the next album.

the slow part of "Aura Rock" has the same notes as "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat.

And See you again by September, and Nightcall by Kavinsky. I don't think/want album four to be similar to any of the other albums, it should be something new, and awesome.

its just a part in Steam Machine/Too Long in Alive 2007 when DP's synth "broke" and played a cool riff (which was a copy of Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat) for a while. It is the most Tron-sounding music DP has made.

I've been trying to find some information about if / when DP is going to tour again, and while I was doing that I read multiple times something about a new album...

So now I've been trying to found some more information about that new album but the only thing I could find here was an outdated (2009) thread with no real interesting information in it. Where everyone was hoping on a release at 09/09/09, which has passed now for a long time already. So i was thinking / hoping, does anyone here now knows a bit more about that new album? Because the next speculated date (which is somewhere in 2011, atleast somewhere soon after the release of the soundtrack of Tron) is coming closer very fast.

What I'm thinking atm is, since the manager said something like:

pedro winter (founder of ed banger and their old manager) said in an interview with triple j radio in australia.... that they are in the studio again but if they arnt happy with the way they sound they are not going to release anything

So what I think is that they were making songs, but then got interrupted cuz of the Tron shizzle. idk man, just speculating...

edit: oh woops, i didn't notice that there is a 'speculations' subforum :p could some1 move the thread? sorry ;D

The Robots themselves have not said anything about what they are going to do after Tron Legacy, so mosty it`s just speculations from fans about a new album or tour.

But, in the interview in Dazed Magazine released today, they said this:

So is it right to assume that they find dance music less appealing than they once did?

“For us, yes,” says Thomas. “We are definitely excited by music, but just trying to constantly experiment. And sometimes that means going with other art forms, because you think there’s more latitude to experiment with an orchestra than an 808 drum machine and synth.”

This could mean a lot of things, but it could be that we will not see another type of DP album that we are used to

yeah... I've read it aswell an hour ago. idk, I think that I'd be much more happy with an album that is alike older albums of DP. But i guess you can't know that for sure untill they actually release it. And DP is epic so it's going to be awesome for sure, no matter what genre it is

The new album of Daft Punk is out (and it is very good) but I wonder what will happen now what?
Will there be a tour?
Will there be another album "more" Daft Punk?

What is certain is that Daft Punk are always something after their album:tour in 1997 after Homework Daft Club card and Interstella 5555 Daft after Discovery, 2006-2007 tour after Human after Hall.

So what will happen there after that left the Tron soundtrack (and movie )????

Patience seems to be the better answers ...

It would be cool if they tour with the orchestra and play a mix of the songs they made so far.

In the 'Dazed' Interview, I think they meant they want to create more emotional and meaningful music, rather than simple dance tunes. I think/hope this means we'll be seeing a lot more tracks like Make Love, Too Long/Steam Machine, Emotion and the tracks on the Tron soundtrack.

They won't be doing that :p
In one of those interviews of the past 1/2 months they've said that they won't be touring there tron album. Because they think that the songs from the soundtrack really belong to the images of the movie, and the one without the other would be a lot less good. Which I totally agree with... But I do hope that they will be releasing a new album next year. They have to if they're going to tour in 2011 / 2012... :p Let's just hope that they will be doing both of those! ^^

What, why not?

Ever heard of Doctor who live?

They could do that type of thing, DP controlling the Synths and what not, and the orchestra doing there thing.

they didn't directly say it, but the director of Tron Legacy did in the KCRW interview (http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb101129tron_legacy_soundtra):

Audience Question: Are Daft Punk going to play any Tron-centered shows? Even around the release of the film?

JB: No. You know, they’re unusual and brilliant. I think they really wanted the music to speak for itself, married to picture. They’re very uncomfortable with any playback without it being to picture because they respect the whole process of scoring. So there’s no ill will there, it’s just they are so particular in their process. They did an exclusive interview for Dazed and Confused which I think is just coming out. It’s the mystique of Daft Punk, but that’s their calling card. It’s kind of worked for them, this “less is more” thing. As much demand as there is, by not doing it it creates even more demand.

Joseph: They understand that equation very well. I think it’s smart on their part.

JB: Who knows maybe in the new year? I mean it’s really up to them but they just need to think it through. And as we know, it takes time.

Idk man :p Normally I'd say it wouldn't be as good as a tour based on a normal album. BUT.. with Daft Punk you never know xD I guess that they could even make a tour based on the Tron album awesome. Still I'd be more happy with a tour on a normal album :p.

There has been talk of a tour since Daft Punk were linked with the film. In truth if there are to be any Tron related events then i think it would be a fair assumption Daft Punk would be involved in some way! There has however through the course of the production of this soundtrack various bits of info to suggest 'other' projects or material that have been spawned from the Tron soundtrack. On one side I've heard that Daft Punk produced a full soundtrack of ELECTRONIC music for the film but it was deemed 'too much' for Disney and Hans Zimmer mellowed it out a bit. If this is the case then there is a whole load of other material lay about somewhere. On another side Thomas Bangalter has been clear in saying they have had other projects happening and we know how tight lipped Daft Punk can be with these things.

Daft Punk are innovators. They're incredibly clever alongside this. Be assured that if they can push the music without satrurating themselves then they will do it!

IMO, DP might be full of inspiration after completing the soundtrack album. I feel optimistic that there will be a true DP album coming out. DP also understands, I think, that you can't really tour to support a soundtrack.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but while I was stalking the FrenchTouchForum I stumbled across someone pointing this out: http://www.joachimgarraud.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=565016#p565016 - From 2008 mind you.

Also, apparently there was a newsflash on WhosYaMama (Management company of DJ Falcon) saying that Falcon and Daft Punk were in the studio working on an album, whether it was his or theirs it did not state. Some time later, however, the bit of news was removed.

Strange...
