Which is better virtual DJ or Traktor, Garageband or Abeton, Ableton or traktor. I must KNOW!!! What's The best for DJ'ing and whats the best for creating music? Discuss!! :wow: Thanks in advance!! :love:

From what I've seen. Garageband is a good starter program. Ableton is for advanced musicians. Traktor and VDJ are DJ programs, they wont make music. I've tried VDJ and it's pretty easy to use. As for Traktor, I've never used it so I can't give an opinion.

I personally have all of the above and I find that ableton has a lot more possibility's then garageband But it's VERY hard to use.

Yeah, garageband is very basic. If you're a starter I think its best to start out with garageband then move onto ableton.

Well You can use a midi in traktor. Haven't looked at virtual DJ yet though for MIDI compatability.

As you see, Virtual DJ is nice to start with. A typical mixer interface with some effects. Traktor has more options and I frequently see professional DJs using it.
Some nice options Virtual DJ has that Traktor don't have are the beatgrid bars on top, Traktor uses seperated windows. And when using the Loop option, you can easily shift the loop with a button, with Traktor you have to set the loop again.

Overall, my opinion: start with Virtual DJ with your keyboard and mouse. When you want something more advanced try Traktor or another good piece of software.

lets see, im assuming you have a mac since you use garage band.
now garageband is basically logic lite. i suggest moving on to that once you feel you hav progressed enough.
personally, i still haven't been able to come to grips with abletons interface as compared to FL studios. so im probably no the best person to talk to about that.
anyway, as for traktor vs vdj, i find that traktor seems to win in terms of sound quality, if you pitch up a song up or down in virtual DJ seems to be a bit....off, and you can use MIDI in vdj, as i have mapped some of the sliders and whatnot on my axiom 49 to act as crossfaders and such.
but in the end, it all boils down to personal preference, after all, they made umbrella with a garage band loop.

I started using FL Studio 9. Then I got a mac.. Now I use Ableton Live. I think it's pretty difficult to use, so I am using my old PC to make music in FL Studio lol (:

i started off in GB, then I got tired of not being able to do what I wanted to, so I moved on to ableton. The learning curve of ableton isnt as bad as many people say, and I was able to pick it up in about a week. I would just take the time, and initiative, to learn ableton from the get go, as it is the most powerful, and the abilities are pretty much endless

I started using, and I still use, Audacity. It's very simple, and very easy to use. I have tried FL Studio 9 and VDJ, and IMO, I find Audacity easier to use.

well audacity is easy to use and it is free but you definently cant dj w/ it or make your own songs. basicaly its only good for remixes even though traktor is better. but traktor aint free sooo....

audacity is more when you want to move parts of a song all over the place and sort of cut it up, but you cant dj with it, because theres no sync and you have no idea what the bpm is, its ok for mixing one song, but thats about it. for making origanal music i use kore and/or lmms, there both free, and i like kore because it turn my vci 100 into a synthesiser, all the buttons become keys and its pretty cool actually.
