As you know, both, Daft Punk's Tron Legacy soundtrack and Deadmau5's 4x4=12 came out on the same day.

These guys are always getting compared,
and I just wanted to rub in everybody's face who's album is getting moar praise.
Sure, you can say the whole "I don't care what critics say" thing, go ahead. idc, lol.
Now I'm just really curious about who's album will sell more.
If they both do well, that's just a really great thing for Electronic music as a whole.

Anyways, check out the professional reviews, gathered by Metacritic
They update when more reviews are added, so check the next day, and the next

I thought 4x4=12 sounded very well-put together.
It sounds like a lot of work was put into some tracks.
Very polished... Excellent sound qualiy too.

However, at the same time there weren't any tracks that blew my mind.

hes not bad.just overexposed.i think hes gone as far as he can go now though,he seems to be repeating himself a bit on 4x4=12. tron ost is getting better reviews because its better, simply put.

I'd read somewhere that 4X4=12 had a lack of new material.

Now, I like deadmau5, don't get me wrong, but I love this! I'm sick of DP getting compared to everyone else, particularly deadmau5 when they don't fall into the same kind of category of music production. The OST is better, I think, and perhaps 4X4=12 was overhyped.

Daft Punk = legends, they cannot be compared. :D
Hahah, okay, they can but of course they'll be the best/win!
Not a fan of deadmau5 but I might listen to it (the album) and see...

I remember when many people were also comparing justice to daft punk, which I can see more than deadmau5....if anything we should be comparing deamau5 to justice and MAYBE justice to daft punk...im not a huge fan of justice, cross was good...but a lot of that sorta loud and scratchy electro lacks the soul and intelligence of old school house

in the end deadmau5 is fun music, but his stuff is far from the artistic achievements of dp

lol at comparing deadmau5 to Daft Punk.

but anyway, stupid comparison in terms of albums. comparing a movie soundtrack to a dance album isn't right anyway, would make more sense if Daft Punks new album was a dance album.

and even then, like Hiroko said, they shouldn't even be compared.

Hmmm a movie score beating an actual Album with full length songs? wow

stop comparing deadmau5 to daft punk. cause there is none. Tron is epic. and wonderful. and makes me feel all happy and warm and fuzzy.

Why do people insist on comparing Deadmau5 and Daft Punk?! Because of his stupid ****ing cube... His cube can suck my balls. it's crap. I hate it.

Which again are two completely different things so I don't know why people compare them on that either. I mean, one of two robots and another is a giant mouse?? Where are theses apparent similarities. Gosh. It just winds me up lol.

mau5's music is so bland...and it all sounds the same...
Daft Punk's music...Amazing no matter what it is, their legends after all :D

Well of course they have different sounds but I can say the comparison is fair game :P
Who's better, well that's all opinion, I really liked 4X4=12, bought them both when they came out and while the tron album went to a totally new place and it's been 5 years since a Daft punk release,
I'll probably be listening to 4X4=12 more just because its studio work as opposed to a movie score :P

I think they're only compared because both albums came out on the same day. I personally hate 4x4=12, it had no emotion or meaning. Daft Punk > Deadmau5

Yeah Pyramid>Cube All day. Alive 2007 was so much more synced as in the lights and music. Deadmau5 is only compared with Daft Punk because of the similarities of their live shows. But if I were to compare the two albums/soundtracks I would go with Daft Punk not just because I'm a fan but because the epicness of the soundtrack is epic. It makes me feel like I have to save the world in every track:) 4x4=12 proves how much of an idiot the mau5 is. It's 16 Dip****!!!

its daft punk, its instantly going to be favored regardless of what the competition is.

But the Deadmau5 album wasnt much of a surprise so.. nbd.

Have not heard anything from Deadmau5 so I don't have any opinion on his music at all. But it is rather silly to compare a soundtrack album to a dance album. JMO.

they are compared because they are both are popular electronic artists, and both wear helmets. that is all.

they don't compare their music.. because they do not compare.. lol

You guys are forgetting that these 2 albums came out ON THE SAME DAY!!!!

It's a battle.

Well, for one, is that Deadmau5 was influenced by Daft punk!
Of course the whole mau5 helmet thing comes from Daft Punk.
They are part of inspiration for his music.
His live action with cube, is inspired by DP.

At the same time it is WRONG to compare them.

I do like deadmau5. I actually love him. I discovered him in 2007, before he became all the big star and stuff. and his music is pretty good. he got his own sound. and he went to become an inspiration to others, as he influenced the direction house music took in 2008 and 2009. But Daft punk is HOLY.

They take a special place in my heart (Probably yours too), where their music is not measured by time, or popularity, or logic. They are just always there. That is what makes us fans. And it makes angry when somebody starts bashing them

the reasons I am saying it, is that it may not be right to compare them, but it does not give you rights to bash others (in this case deadmau5). He is pretty good. the young guy, went and made his own music, that became big. he is something. so please respect each other.

Long live DP.

he wanted a bigger live performace, it just so happens that the people who made his set made the last most visually intense set (daft punk's).

He wanted something big, he had a helmet for a long time, but he always invisioned something bigger and better, and HD tv screen mau5 head. since you cant get LCD's in sphericle format, they did an LED matrix head..

He has refrenced daft punk with the helmet, but simply because he was mentioning "kinda like dp, their **** is cool, but i want to go into the next dimension" something wayy more complicated. that he did.

They came out on the same day, okay. thats a reason. but many things come out on the same day, doesn't mean they have to be reviewed together..

Daft Punk and Deadmau5 music wise and persona was serve no similarity.. so stop comparing the two. plz and ty. :)

ok, first things first:

THIS^ is why i got so pissed off on http://www.thedaftclub.com/forum/showthread.php/14194-Something-to-piss-you-off so thanx, Yorsch for putting into words what i couldn't at the time <3

second: i haven't even gotten to hear 4 X 4 yet, and DAMN :/

Deadmau5 = Prog House/Electro/****ty dubstep(sorry bro) minimal stuff

Daft punk = French touch/elctro(mainly)
the only similarity is that their names both start with D.
Daft punk was not the first group to wear hemlets
was their live act better than Mau5e5? personally i like Etienne de Crecy's the best
did i buy 4x4=12, no
and why do you even care what reviewers have to say
after all, they hate the actual movie, if RT is anything to go by
and HAA bombed with reviewers as well
so its just a pointless argument
