View Full Version : Looking to buy TB helmet by September

Hey everyone. I'm interested in buying a TB replica so that I can have a full suit by Halloween. My chick and I already invested in a Quorra official costume replica so it'd be awesome if I could have something to 'match'.

I did a semi-thorough search before creating a new thread as it's been made clear how much you guys despise uninformed and asinine posts :P I'm not cheap by any means nor do I have supernatural expectations. I realize that a hobby like this requires money, patience, and most importantly, time. And for that I have no problem compensating you for your efforts.

What I'm looking for:
As stated earlier, I would like a TB helmet. My MAIN requirements are that it be presentable and semi-professional or better, no raw stuff. LED's of some sort are a must at this point if I'm going to invest this kind of money. It doesn't have to be some jaw-dropping matrix, but an LED buckle/table at the very least. I should also mention I'm only 5'8". It seems like most of you are 6' plus, so it needs to fit and be proportional.

As far as pricing, I'm willing to pay up to $1k depending on the quality of your work. Considering many of the low ball offers I've seen, I think that's pretty reasonable. I get my tax return in 3 weeks and have no problem investing in something this awesome.

I live in Covina, CA USA. I'd prefer to deal domestically, but if your work is excellent, I'll go international.

If you'd like to take me up on my request or have an already finished product you'd like to sell, message me on here and I'll gladly give you my number or personal email address to work out the details.

Thanks for looking!

-Adrian

You have got to be kidding me.

I don't know, $1,000 seems like a decent offer for a finished, non LED helmet. Lord knows it a hell of a lot better than most of what people offer around here.

Ignition: Just as a pricing metric, know that (good) castings go for $300, chroming typically costs between $200 and $250, and raw materials such as bondo, primer, padding, and the visor need to be factored in as well. Your offer isn't a bad one, but the profit margin might be somewhat slim for some builders. That being said, you're on the right track at least. Best of luck getting one and I commend your politeness

@Volpin/Dez79
Thanks for the heads up, much appreciated. At least my offer wasn't too far off. I'll keep that closer in mind when I find someone to deal with.

I assumed many of you did this as a hobby and had multiple projects and that someone would be willing to part with one for the right price. A couple people have hit me up with legitimate and realistic offers so I'll see what happens.

But honestly, considering all the pissed off replies throughout the majority of this sub-forum, you guys really should add a buy/sell section as was mentioned earlier. This is the most appropriate section to post these threads in. I have no intention of insulting anyone and I'm paying well enough to deserve some mutual respect, I think.

EDIT:
I would also consider a GM helmet as well; possibly a package deal?

If you get offended at these threads, then why not steer clear of them? Not trying to be rude but I've been searching for almost 2 years and this seemed like the best bet in regards to value and communication. I hope you can understand the seriousness of my interest.

I think it's the idea that it's filling this subforum with threads of limited to no value to anyone but the original poster. That said, I clicked this thinking "not again" but was pleasantly surprised. I don't mind this sort of request thread at all. Yes, the better sources for helmets are easily found, but putting out a reasonable offer with clearly defined criteria is not at all unreasonable and opens it up to other builders to bid.

i think a market sub forum would nicely erradicate the bash threads coming towards the forumbuyers and also open a space for former replica makers and any other in the person in the process of becoming a seller to engage people. I also think that this website has a purpose and for the time been its fullfilling its need but as we move on things might need to change.

My comment was not about the offer but about how many of these threads there are these days. I should have made that clear I suppose.

I currently have 3 offers that I'm working on. I'm really only convinced on one of them so I'm still looking for possible sellers. I checked out the guy on eBay but it wasn't worth it considering the visor wasn't uniform and angled out at the sides. He sold them all though, so good for him.

As far as final touches, if it's not chromed but you can make it look somewhat like it is, either through a gloss lacquer or polish of some sort, that works too.

If you have one you'd like to show me, PM me and I'll reply with my email address so you can send me some pics.
