Hi! This is my work in progress Daft Punk helmet. I still have to do some bondo on it and improve the paint job a bit, but this is my start. I'll try to keep you guys updated :D http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/086/8/b/daft_punk_helmet_by_logiepoop-d3cmqic.jpg

btw, I came up with this awesome idea of using my iphone as the led display. I'm still trying to get it mounted. :happy2:

Biggest thing you need on there is some slopes on the visor.

As seen here:

My finished costume. The Guy-Man one was made in like half an hour so it's not quite as good :P These weren't supposed to be super accurate. Sorry for the crappy webcam photos. Enjoy!

Hey man, I began a thread on a Thomas Helmet too. I don't know if you've seen it but I think maybe some of my process might help out. Good start though man! http://www.thedaftclub.com/forum/showthread.php/14954-Thomas-Project

Yeah I have seen your thread man. Nice helmet! This helmet was made to only be used for one night so its not supposed to be great.

Actually, ignore that last post by me! This is definitely not a WIF. Iv'e started up again and I'm trying to make the Thomas more accurate, as well as start of a Guy! Here's the pics: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/124/9/3/daft_punk_2_0_by_logiepoop-d3flie0.jpg

I think in general the visor and the surrounding area look like they need more structure, on the Thomas helmet that is. I think that would greatly improve the look of your helmet :)

It seems to be a common trend that no one helmet builder is ever satisfied with their helmet. There is always room for improvement! I'm sure every time you work on the helmet it will get better and better each time.

Did you not cut the ear guards off of the baseball helmet???

Thanks for the criticism! Actually I just started working on that after I took this picture

Lol, actually, no. I'm going to do that soon though once I get the right tool.

for your guy helmet, it may be easier to do the ears separately and then attach them after sanding.

i did it all at once on my first helmet, and sanding inside of the ear area is very hard.

so build the ears in two parts, (inside circle and outer D), and then attach them together, and then attach to helmet.

that's how i plan on doing it at least

Thanks man. I realize now that I should have done that. Oh well, too late now.

it's not too late... check out mr pinski's build. he was in the same boat and cut out the inner ear (the part with the circuit board). then he attached a smooth piece for the backing and redid the "pucks"
