Here is an interview from the time when Daft Punk, described as "two slippery Frenchmen" bwhahaha, were wrapping up the Alive 2007 tour and prepping to release the CD. Thomas gives some very long, thoughtful answers to questions about the experimental nature of both the live tour and their approach to making music. Thomas boldly states that "the recording industry as we know it" is over and it is the beginning of an "artist controlled environment and the approach to have more and more shows." I guess that prediction is true. I don't pay much attention to uber mainstream music these days, but just look at deadmau5: he's been touring constantly for the past 2-3 years.
There are also some very detailed descriptions of their live setup and how live it really is given the limitations the technology puts on it. Guy-Man lets us in on what's going on up in the pyramid beyond turning knobs and pushing buttons, and why it's not a very good idea to drink lots of water before the show. But despite the experience being probably quite miserable physically, he says "we are really focused on what we have to do and we are so supported by the energy of the show we don't have time to think about it. But it's very, very hot." It sure is
