Better to put this here...
I saw a video on youtube of the Perth show that (apprently) was taken outside the venue and you could clearly see/hear the show.
Or am I wrong?
What kind of venue would just let their show be fully visible to anybody walking by?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx-hFUd2tTg
Hopefully the show was sold out and these people are just witnessing awesomeness in the distance...

that seems really, really bizarre...
i think it's funny how everyone's just standing around, and you can see cars going by. XD
also, is rotating movies 90 degrees so hard to do? D:

Well
The Esplande Metro area, think of Brighton Beach in England. It's huge - people by tickets, but clearly people can see it a kilometre away. It's just so big and loud and bright and clearly the highest point

22nd Dec 2007, 15:42
My friends.
It is 1:20am as I write this. I saw the red pixellated sun set on the encore well over two hours ago.
A momentous journey it has been.
But to re-cap December 22.
It was an overcast day, people packed into Sydney Showground. Once or twice it rain, but no-one seemed to care. Particular crowd pleasers were The Presets and Cut Copy - home grown favourites.
And yes, my ID worked!
But when Close Encounters started, I lost it. Knowing I had 2GB of space and 90min to cherish this concert, I payed full attention.
And boy, do those lights look better in real life.
It was a aural and visual orgasm. I have never had more fun in my entire life or seen a more monu-freaking-mental stage and light show. We partied like there was no tomorrow, people meeting random people and making friends all at NEVEREVERLAND.
I am exhausted, starving, but I have never felt more, alive, so to speak.
Nothing special happened at the end of Human After All, or the Encore. They just went their merry way off the stage without a big bang.
But the roar they received at the beginning when the first sounds of Robot Rock kicked it completely deafened me. I was one of the 45000 people screaming my head off.
Arriving at 2pm for every single set played, I had stood my ground at around ... 20m back. A good solid area, against a barricade. I stayed there for half the time, and I was rewarded with a front on, light show with no errors. No wonder they picked Sydney as the last one. We came, we saw, and we roared our approval. There were hundreds of people on other people's back's, just to get a good look at those robots.
I can't believe I got in, I can't believe I saw them, and I can't believe how quickly it was over.
It will stick with me forever.
Alive 2007 concluded at 10:45pm, Sydney time, on December 22, 2007.
spurway.
I will upload my footage after I fixed it in iMovie. There are several contrast changes I need to make and the sounds is distorted beyond belief. I'm sorry about thaat.. I wish I could have used the DVi camera. it was so... ALL CONSUMING!
xx
PS - got my merchandise - two shirts and a poster.
PPS - someone clambered onto the pyramid at the encore and was swiftly apprehended. Moron.
PPPS - Presets were the best home support act by far. Nothing gets 45000 jumping than "Are You The One?" Played at 300dB
PPPPS - I condemned people for chucking glowsticks at the pyramid. One landed inside and probably scared the crap outta Daft. IDIOTS>
x.

And here is my final official blog on the show:
The adventures of spurway at NEVEREVERLAND
Current mood: giddy
Okay. Here it goes. I'm going to write the full day of NEVEREVERLAND on one blog. That's hard.
It began on August 31, 2007 - where me, along with alot of other Australians, found out that Daft Punk, along with several support acts, would launch a five-gig tour across Australia in December. Tickets would go on sale on September 13, and sell out in 13 minutes - all 100'000 of them. It would be the final five shows of Daft Punk's Alive 2007 tour - and Sydney would be the very last one.
Rumours speculated from the boys would remove their helmets, to fireworks finishing it off... but...
Fast-forward three-and-a-half months, and I was waking up on December 22, 2007. My family would be leaving, without me and my older sister, to north New South Wales for a week long trip. We would leave tomorrow.
But I woke up at 4:30am, to the sound of them leaving and got told to hastily make my way back to bed. I did, and I couldn't sleep. Not a wink.
So with around five hours of sleep under my belt, I wandered around and had breakfast. After a few more hours, my sister Alex, and helping each other wear something, (and make me look over 18), we clutched our tickets and our IDs and sped off to pre's at Pinner's house. After a few drinks, we made our way to Chatswood Station. There were now fifteen of us - all of them gob-smacked at my likeness to my fake ID.
And that was my hurdle. I had no idea if it would work. I grew out my stubble and made myself look as 21 as possible. Nervously, I, and others, made our way to Sydney Olympic Park. The train was hot and made my nerves worse. The train was a special, and was totally packed with Daft fans and costumes. 55'000 punters would descend on the Sydney Showground, and one of them was me.
When the doors finally opened at the station at around 2pm, when the doors of the concert would open, we bolted up the stairs to avoid the masses clogging up the lines. I sized up the arena - impossible to jump if I failed to get in. So - ****ting myself, I waited in line for about 20 minutes.
Then, as I handed over my ticket and ID, it worked! Not only that, but I got one of the lucky last wristbands that allowed floor space - so I wasn't confined to the stalls on the side.
Flushed with success - I almost screamed aloud as I got in - I followed my sister into the arena - and it was transformed.
A huuuuuuuge black cloth stage sat at the far end, with thousands of people flitting about it. A DJ booth, where our beloved Modular DJ played, was in the middle, along with a ****ing huge amount of speakers and lights.
Plug In City followed at around 2:30pm. Never heard of them, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Followed by the Modular DJ, then Van She at 3:30pm. I didn't really get into it, partly because I was distracted meeting the 100 or so people flocking around me and eating a LOT of chips, and also because I some t-shirts and goodies before everyone nicked them. Stowing my bag away at the bag check, I walked back to the arena, where Modular came on, then the best one so far, Muscles. I had heard of him, and his music, and the crowd, just as the sun came out, went troppo when "Sweaty" was played first off - jumping and just going crazy. A lot of bottles were chucked about.
At 6pm, Cut Copy came out with "Future", "Time Stands Still" and "Hearts on Fire" and the crowd loved it. I had finally taken my position just outside the mosh area, against the barrier that separated them, and I didn't budge. It was a good location and I wouldn't get trampled. To make it even better, it rained. The heavens opened and dumped a ****load of water in about half an hour. This gave an excuse for practically everyone to take off their shirts and PART-Y. Me? I just went along with it. Rain did NOTHING to anyone.
But a good part of this story is that, once on the barrier, it became a sort of game for people to 'jump' the barrier to get into the mosh. After around 6pm, at least a hundred people jumped by the time Daft came on, with around... TWO getting caught. The guards were hopeless. It was hilarious - and everyone loved them - particularly when it was really hot and the western sun blazed on our necks and they sprayed us with hoses... ahhh bliss.
After Cut Copy, there were no more Modular DJs, but just straight sets from artists. First up was Bang Gang Deejays - and they were awesome. May not get the reception they want, partly because they were up high and out of the way, and only a small camera could see them, and the music they played wasn't the moshing type. Just sort of get-into-the-club-mood sort of thing. Excellent though.
Then, at 7:45pm, the Presets came out. By now it was dark enough to allow some basic lighting, and they ****ing ROCKED everyone. The biggest crowd they played to, and while rocking through hits like "Kitty in the Middle", "My People", "Down Down Down" and finally to round it off, "Are You the One?", which everyone went OFF and BLEW the stands away. The duo looked positively maniacal up on the big stage.
Then, as expected, the curtains came across the pyramid hiding behind, but we did get a very brief glimpse of the software running the visuals starting up, to which everyone CHEERED!
Regular Daft supporters SebastiAn and Kavinsky DJ'd until 9:15. With Kavinsky's Kanye West-like sunglasses, red lights and SebastiAns thrilling mix of "Smack My Bitch Up" - everyone was loving it, especially when bubbles were blown on the crowd and Kavinsky held up a sign saying "WE LOVE OZ" to the camera.
THEN. THE MAIN EVENT.
The one we've been waiting for. For a decade. For years. For WHATEVER. BUT WE WERE HERE.
CUE THE "CLOSE ENCOUNTERS" TONE!!!! and EVERYONE YELLED!
The curtains drew back, and there Daft Punk were, standing atop their 3 metre high pyramid, surround by grids of lights.
"ROOOOOOOOBBBOOOOOOOOTTT...."
I screamed. I screamed like I was being attacked. I was here. And so were the people around me. We LIFTED everyone off the ground and thought "You cannot be prepared for this". Camera at the ready, "ROBOT, HUMAN, ROBOT, HUMAN" was faster and faster until the first chords of "Robot Rock" blasted through the speakers and everyone was jumping, not a ****ING care in the world. Just JUMPING AND RAVING AND JUMPING. Strobes, and bright, cyan lights cut through the crowd, with small portions of the "Maximum Overdrive" mix being cut in.
Melting perfectly into "Touch It", "Oh Yeah" and "Technologic", everyone particularly sung when the words "**** IT, **** IT, **** IT, **** IT" appeared in giant orange-and-black letters on the screen behind the pyramid.
"TELEVISION.... RULES THE NATION... AROUND THE WORLD" blared out, casting a white and fuzzy glow, with Thomas Bangalter pumping his fist in time with the quick marking beat of "Television Riles the Nation", climaxing when "Crecendolls" cut across and molded into one song.
Then, Too Long came on, with blue lines jumping around the grid and a flowing, aqua pattern appeared on the screen, and beads of light travelled down the pyramid in time to the quickening beat of "Aura Rock" - "CAUSE WE GUNN MOVE, CAUSE WE GUNN MOVE" slowly and stately, then exploding out twice as fast, running into "Steam Machine" with purple zig-zags appearing onto the pyramid.
Then came a perennial favourite - the opening bass line to "Around the World" - with colours, so many colours, flying down the grid of lights and coming off the lights splayed around the stage; balls of colour on the video screen a la "Around the World' music video. It was a monstrous, huge, eye-boggling display of colourful ecstacy, climbing higher until "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" took over and streams of colours ran off the grid and overlapped with the lyrics "AROUND THE WORLD".
"WORK IT WORK IT WORK IT - HARDER HARDER HARDER HARDER..."
Then it quickly "interluded", showing a flashing orange screen in homage to the Alive 2006 set where "Technologic" was mixed in. But then...
A 'explosion' if you will, on each "WEEEOAH" of "Burnin'" - yellow light rippling out of the grid when the tone went up and down, again and again. The jazzy bass line ripping through the tones and everyone jumped all over the place. It faded out, only to be replaced by, one of my favourite parts, "Too Long", with eerie blue lights wafting around.
Strobes flicked on and off in time with the repetitive lead up to the lyrics. Then, the bass kicked in and, in time, the pyramid flashing pure white, on and off, causing the crowd to yell in delight.
"NO YOU NEED IT. HEY! I NEEDED YOU. WELL ALL RIGHT. NO YOU NEED IT. IT'S GOOD FOR YOU.
WE GONN' MOVE"
Blue lights danced around us and flashing pyramids combined with us to move as one.
It slowly drew itself out, giving us a fifteen second break between the next song.
"WWWHHHAATTS GOOOIIINNGGG OONNN... CAAAANNN'TTT THIISSS BEEE MMMYYY UNNDEERRRSTAANNDINGGGG"
In the opposite to the fade out of "Too Long", "Face to Face" kicked in with a little mousy version of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" on top. A green line flicked across the pyramid, like a radar, and more green lines sped up and met in time with the quickening beat.
"IT'S AMAZING WHAT YOU'LL FIND FACE TO FA-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-...."
The beat plunged in, with green triangles flashing up and down, a Matrix style background on the pyramid. And then, suddenly, "Short Circuit" cut over, displaying a blue and mellow star background... and it faded away.
Another quick break. Then..
"DONG........... DONG....... DONGGGG...... DONGG...."
And "One More Time" bellowed out of the speakers, green and purple lines alternating back and forth across the grid, a flying dizzying pattern on the pyramid and everyone sung along and screamed like ****.
"ONE MORE TIME, WE'RE GONNA CELEBRATE, YEAH OH YEAH ALL RIGHT DON'T STOP THE DANCIN'............ ONE MORE TIME"
And as swiftly as it came, only 2 and a half minutes in, the brilliant guitar solo cut in and rocked away, white lights pulsing all over the stage in double quick time. Subtly mixing in "One More Time" towards the end, it splayed out into "Aerodynamic Beats" and "Forget About the World" - a song remixed by Daft Punk but made by the artist Gabrielle. Not that brilliant, but it did serve an excellent intro to...
"I AMMMMMM THE BRAAAAAAIIINNNWASSSHHAAAARRRRRRrrrrRARrR" and "Phoenix" click-clack sound on top.
It rose higher and higher until "The Brainwasher" was cut off and--
"PRIME TIME OF YOUR LIFE..... NOW.... LIVING... THE PRIME TIME OF YOUR LIFE!"
With red lights, parallel to each other, clicked on when each word was said, then halfway through, the POUNDING bassline to "Rollin' & Scratchin'" kicked in, sending madness into the crowd. The cracking red lights overlayed to blue then purple, sending of "THE PRIME TIME OF YOUR LIIIIIIIEEEEFFFFEEEEE" into the main "Rollin' & Scratchin'" beat, it serving up a second intro into the wickedly fast-paced and souped up "The Brainwasher" - red squares and triangles flashing across the pyramid; strobes and red lasers cutting through the fog.
After a few minutes, the main beat to "Alive" faded up and flashed the grid a brilliant, crazed red, pulsing through until it mixed back to "TIME OF YOUR LIFE.. TIME OF YOUR LIFE..." and ending with "THE PRIME TIME OF YOUR LIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEFFFFFFFFFFFEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" with rainbows of colours flashing across pyramid, grid and video screen alike.
A brief pause, then --
The first few bars of "Steam Machine" gave way to "Da Funk" - with rippling arrows, brown and gold, flashing on the pyramid.
"DA FUNK BACK TO THE PUNK - COME ON" - "Daftendirekt", like the 1997 show, naturally playing on top of it. Everyone went "WOAH" when the words had finished on each beat.
After a slow ending, there was ONE more song(s) left.
Thomas and Guy-Man, both on the pyramid, set off the kick drum beat to "Superheroes", briefly looking up from their Moogs and clapping - and within one second, everyone was clapping along. CLAPCLAPCALPCALPCLAP..
"COME THROUGH THE AIR" (or whatever your interpretation of that lyric is) faded up and brought a dazzling blue and white grid and video screen display. Then it changed as "HUMAN. HUMAN. HUMAN." - "Human After All" played across, and as each word was said, the grid changed to a brief, but magnificent rainbow aura, creating ecstasy among the crowd. The guitar riffs faded up and ripped through "Superheroes", completely knocking it off when the chorus came in:
"WE ARE HUMAN, AFTER ALL. FLESH UNCOVERED, AFTER ALL" and pictures of planets, humans, space and time flashing onto the pyramid.
Then, a subtle change came in - "Rock n' Roll" joined the song, provided a much-needed boost to the songs playing. Then.. it changed and simply "HUMAN HUMAN HUMAN HUMAN AFTER ALL" played, with hundreds of human faces flashing pasty when each word was said.
Then the song grew higher in pitch, louder in volume, more in ecstasy, and the words "AFTER ALL" played out, the pyramid flashed white and the robots blew kisses and waved goodbye and walked down the steps of thier pyramid, leaving behind a dark blue light haze.
In the five minutes that followed, Daft Punk changed costumes. Still robots, but now with a bonus feature.
Waiting five minutes, I checked my camera - ****ing great shots i got. And up against the barrier, no one was in my way and I made friends with alot of people during the show. I wasn't crushed either!
But some idiots threw glowsticks, one missing the fellas by an inch and landing everywhere. Glowsticks SUCK compared to this! BEHAVE!
After five minutes, the much anticipated encore started, with a guttural "HUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN" pulsing on the video screen in big purple letters. As it got faster, a kick drum beat came in, and on the off beat, after the word 'HUMAN" was said, faces appeared. Faster and faster and faster until...
The lights EXPLODED into life, sending shockwaves of pure fun and a visual orgasm overwhelming the senses, with the strands of "Together" kicking in. As this happened, Thomas did an extraordinary thing - he pulled out a CyberShot and filmed the concert goers raving! EVERYONE WENT OFF AT THIS!
Then - a red line made its way around the grid and up the pryramid - revealing the hidding costume bonus.
The robots were lit up in red! Lined with red piping and lit up like a ****ING great Christmas tree, giving way to the pounding beat of "Together" and a reprise of "One More Time". It was now that some idiot climbed into the pyramid and, ahem, got the **** kicked out of him by about 2000 guards.
Then, Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You" kicked in with a red star field and strobes flashing with the guitar beat. "One More Time" played in, with the encore ending with a bit of "Aerodynamic" sending down the star field before the whole pyramid rocked on it's foundations when the lights blazed to life once more and BLEW AWAY THE CROWD AGAIN. FLASHING FLASHING FLASHING.... then a guttural grinding noise as "Together" faded away and the grinding stopped.
The two robots looked wistfully across the largest crowd they ever played to, and turned around.
"DAFT PUNK" lit up in bright red LEDs on the leather jumpsuits they wear, and they paused, they didn't remove their helmets, nor did fireworks go off.
The crowd roared and screamed at the boys' LEDs, and as they walked off, we saluted them.
And the stadium lights came on, the pryramid's lights were winched down, and walking through a ****ing mountain of rubbish, I found my sister and her boyfriend, collected my bag and went home, happy, but tired. I went to bed at 2am, and flew to Queensland the next day, revering at my photos and videos, not believing my luck that I got in and went to the last Alive 2007 show ever.
EVER.
And I thought:
It's good to be ALIVE.
Still revering, and still amazed

That scream at the beginning of the first ROOOOOBOTTTTTTTTTTT is me..
Me saying "Stop ****ing chucking glowsticks" on the encore was me
and the part where, before HUUUUMAAANNNN appeared for the encore, before it started, some guy jumped the fence and landed face first onto the pyramid. i was appalled and suprised it didn't ruin the 1600 LEDs. he was swifty, ahem, drop kicked.

WHICH lyrics haha
since you asked...
"CAUSE WE GUNN MOVE, CAUSE WE GUNN MOVE"
...
"NO YOU NEED IT. HEY! I NEEDED YOU. WELL ALL RIGHT. NO YOU NEED IT. IT'S GOOD FOR YOU.
WE GONN' MOVE"
...
"PRIME TIME OF YOUR LIFE..... NOW.... LIVING... THE PRIME TIME OF YOUR LIFE!"
being picky, the first is just included because there's no "cause."
the second should be "you know you need it. hey. i need it too. well alright, you know you need it, it's good for you."
as for Prime Time, i think it may be under debate, but i've always though it was "live it" instead of "living."
not too bad, right? XD

SILENCE>
I KILL YOU
The Superheroes lyrics are "Something's in the air". If you listen to the original Barry Manilow song they took the sample from, the lyrics go "Something's in the air, I answer the phone but there's nobody there..."
Anywho, best night of my life. Hands down.
