So.. this project is still going yeah? Hey, we all believe in you Futureproof. You'll get it done.
Is there serious demand a moderator (hmm) stickies this?
I'd certainly consider it a fairly important thread, especially if it is genuinally a group, I mean *club* effort. Yeah!
Anyway.. asking Admin is probably a good thing. Always. *nods*

Making this thread IMPORTANT to stay up top would be awesome!
Anyhoo, I'm seriously busy all this week (going to see Kanye West and Radiohead monday/tuesday) amongst other things.
But come the weekend, I have nothing to do so I will dive back into my project.
I had an idea to include help from you peoples!
Ok, so it'd be kinda cool at this point if people searched for videos on various video services (youtube, myspace, dailymotion, etc.) and forewarded my pre-made message to them and have them reply to me.
It would be a cool way to free me of searching the world wide web for doep videos I may not have seen yet. Only quality stuff tho!
Though, what I might do is post "THE LIST" of people who I have contacted already and have either sent me videos or are going to send me videos soon (so u arent bothering them with a repeat-request). So like, THE LIST has usernames and the site which I contacted them on. So if you see a cool video(s), you could check THE LIST to see if I contacted said person already or not.
Lemme know if anybody is interested, so I'll get on that (posting the generic request for videos and THE LIST).

Ok, I keep saying this, but this coming weekend, I have nothing planned so I'm gonna devote it to catching up on this DVD.
I rly hope to get some more contributers and seed out the people who said they were gonna send me their footage but didn't.

15th May 2008, 13:38
I guess no one is interested in my idea in the post I made at the top of the page (?)
I would love it if peoples searched around for potential videos for people to be contacted to see if they wanna send.
Anyhoo, since I have time this weekend, I'm gonna re-organize my stuff and search for new contributers.
If I have time, I will also assemble the clips I have as-of-now and see how that goes.
Im listening to Alive 2007 right now (haven't done so in a while) and it got me all amped again for getting into this project!

Nice video Aero!
Anyhoo, just an update.
This weekend I got organized again and shot out some more PM requests.
And while organizing my files I realized I have two sources of videos and I dont have any idea who sent them to me!! I must have forgot to catalog the files on my LIST of contacts.
And they are pretty good too...I'm going to have to search around thoroughly in my gmail inbox/youtube PMs so I can credit where credit is due!
In other news, I would like someone to contribute/help/assist me with the main menu of the DVD.
I have the visual in my mind...but I may need someone savy with photoshop or similar software to make it for me...
Ok, so the main menu I want it to look like this:
http://assets4.pitchforkmedia.com/images/image/35353.insidedaftpunk.jpg
Except, the crowd will not be visible. I will use the DVD Studio software to make the animated menu.
Rather than the audience, it will appear that the curtain is up covering the stage (and the curtain will be waving ever so slightly in the wind).
So cutting out the audience and making it all blue or green would help!
Next, I need for those numbers to be photoshopped out.
To make it look like an actual video shot, I will add like some effects over the gear (glowing red lights and such on the gear).
The main menu options will be visible on the "curtain" that I will add in.
And also, for example, when you push PLAY, i will make quick video transition in the menu that will change the angle to have a first-person type view of the curtain and the curtain will open and it will fade to white/then black.
(am I confusing any of you yet? I guess I should draw it out in PAINT or something :) ).
HOWEVER, there is a problem with the source pic above.
First off, it might be hard to photoshop the crease in the middle of the picture. And with that said, you would also need a LARGE high quality scan of the picture from the magazine itself.
So if its not possible to do this, I'm thinking maybe someone can actaully re-create the picture piece by piece by finding pictures of the gear from various sites and prolly even draw in the misc. stuff (cords, table, plugs, etc.).
But nothing cartoony like. As real as possible.
Let me know if anyone is interested in this or if they need a clearer explanation!

I was wondering if theres a site for this already, or some kind of graphic file that can be used to advertise this. I'm making a site thats compiling all the daft projects here and hosting them there. It also includes hosting of daft artwork and remixes, as well as news and whatnot.
So to get back to the point, is there a image that you're using to advertise this project, or do you already have a site that advertises this project?
electromatic
20th May 2008, 18:17
No there isn't a site for this yet.
I really like the menu idea. 2 ideas for you.
1. The backround music in the menu should sound like the audience is waiting for DP, like the intro of Coachella.
2. When you press play or go to anyother part of the menu the background noise should be a crowd screaming at them.
What do you think of this. I can make those mp3s for you if you want.

@future: so i guess you decided you didn't like my old idea for a menu? D: haha nah, it's cool. uhm, provided someone can hook us up with a 300dpi version of the image, i could probablymaybepossibly do the Photoshopping out of the crowd and maybe the numbers. i'm not quite confident in my abilities as to say i could definitely do the crease, but i can give it a shot at the very least...
have you thought of asking someone to do a vector trace of it or something? that would solve several problems, as it would negate the issue of the crease, and you could also do a vector trace off of a smaller image, as vectors can be resized/enlarged without losing any quality. i've never done that sort of work, though, so i wouldn't be able to do it.
also, i still have those files for my unfinished DVD cover sitting on my desktop! D: maybe one of these days i'll actually get back around to working on it. it's really a shame leaving it at only 2/3 of the way done... ^^;; lol

Untra, no site or pic for the project yet. hmmmm...
Electro, exactly what I was thinking! Forgot to put it in my post. When you push play, it will be a quick audio clip of a piece of the CLOSE ENCOUNTERS chime, audience screaming, and a ROOOOBBBOOOOTTT. 3 or 4 seconds max (its annoying if its longer).

there was one guy around here that was quite good with vectors. i'm not sure if he's still around, but if so, you may want to ask him. he did that vector trace of the helmets everyone was drooling over (myself included!) in the first pictures thread a couple months ago. chrishale, i believe it was.

(in relation to the recent controversy of WORLD IS DAFT being cancelled...me venting:)
If they are really gonna go all out (the law), they can trace back everything to this forum and the coachella forums for sure.
Plus, i'm going to give credit to all the people who sent in their footage (no email addys, just usernames or whatever they want to be credited as), and they can prolly contact them...
I don't intend to put my real name on the DVD in any way at all, but never the less, but i do want at least my username here or coachella to be on there...
i'm so torn!!
-------------------
HOWEVER.... LOOP HOLE!
i COULD theoretically burn copies (for free of course)...send them out to everyone who sent me footage....and select people from coachella and daft club...
eh....no, too much effort...
basically, i dunno.
its WAY to early to be talking non sense like this on MY part, but its just something in the back of my mind...
With that said, did you know you can download virtually any dvd, CD, and software online? from various sources. COPYWRITED material. Yet, theres thousands (millions?) of people go under the radar...
EDIT:
I got an idea!
What if I upload the files to a file sharing site (ie Rapidshare or Megaupload) piece by piece (FYI, alot of people upload LARGE files like these to these sites. they just simply RAR the data files and split them into X amount of files and u download them individually, then when u have all files, it puts it all together).
It doesnt seem as risky as seeding via torrent i think...

so, futureproof, basically, i think you should go with the whole "it's better to ask forgiveness than permission" ideology, and just do it. the Coachella DVD has been out for over two years now, and that hasn't gotten into any copyright trouble as far as i'm aware of. hey heres another thing i need input on...
So the time between the end of the show and the encore...
what should i do??
I think the average time that passed waiting for the encore was about 5 minutes (but I'm sure that varied from show to show).
Basically, what should I do on my dvd?
-Emphasize that time has "passed" but dont waste too many minutes for that. Just get with the encore.
-Have a 3 to 5 minute shot(s) of various crowds cheering and such.
(shots pending)
-use some behind the scenes shots that i dont have but maybe someone has lololz (it'd be killer if i had footage of them changing outfits :) ).
But yeah...should i play it out for 3 to 5 minutes of crowd cheering from various shows, or just sorta get right to it like 30 seconds to a minute after they leave the stage for the first time.
Aside from crowd shots, i cant think of any other shots to go to.
Aero5555
15th Jun 2008, 15:20
How about audio of the crowd cheering while waiting for the encore, and you do some kinda 3-minute slideshow of Hi-Res pics from the shows (excluding the encore), and then there's a transition to the pyramid being all dark, and bam, HUMAN is displayed on the screen signaling the start of the encore.
futureproof
15th Jun 2008, 16:11
hmmm....that sounds like a good idea!
I was thinking of simply using shots of the crowd, but I only have but so many shots of crowds during the encore break. And most of them are mostly pitch black with camera phones and camera flashes every 2 seconds.
I may take your idea up!
piroteki
15th Jun 2008, 18:17
i'd say either
-Emphasize that time has "passed" but dont waste too many minutes for that. Just get with the encore.
-Have a 3 to 5 minute shot(s) of various crowds cheering and such.
(shots pending)
if you're going for the feel of the actual show, i'd say crowd shots would be best, and if you're lacking, just make it a little on the short side (leaning more to the 3 minutes than 5 minutes), and you probably could get away with reusing some shots, just make sure there's a little distance between the clips. lol
i think a slideshow of shots from the show would be a little weird, though.

-edit- ah! i totally missed that crowd shot at the bottom! i do like the use of that. mind sharing the picture? (well... i guess it depends on the dimensions/resolutions of it...)
i'm pretty sure this project is still on, Dark_DJ, future has said that he was continuing with his project despite the theworldisdaft project, and the DVD hani is making is essentially that same project.

but i like your work that i've seen in those walls, so i think you'd probably make a killer cover.

What part, the front? The back? What ever needs less color, I'm sure I can fix it. I did this in paint a long time ago and fixed the border of the pyramid and the red border in the back cover. Everything else is in one layer. I'm sure I can fix it though.

hey, electro.
I like the improved design...
but....there was actually something that the design in total reminds me of. Maybe its the straight lines and the colorful pyramid thing...
For some reason, it reminded me of the recent live Genesis album artwork.
The artwork is like technical drawings of their stage for their tour. And text pointing to what various things are.
I was thinking, what about incorporating fake technical drawings as the backdrop.
Keep the backdrop black, but lightly add that in to fill space.
Heres the artwork:
COVER: http://bp1.blogger.com/_lUweRq_ScBA/R1Qq5wScBSI/AAAAAAAACEg/WN5BJwzowM8/s1600-R/Genesis+-+Live+Over+Europe+2007+-+Front.JPG

CD: http://www.freecovers.net/preview/2/0091a682de3f92e89fde075aeeb8349e/big.jpg
Another thing, I realized what I really don't like..
The picture block on the back.
Might I suggest keeping it the way it is, except get rid of the red lines that cover the pictures.
So basically, keep all the triangles/squares, but don't have them covering the pictures.
And I like keeping the black space empty for tech specs.
Also, get rid of both of the daft glowing logos on the middle front.
Get rid of the logos on both sides of the pyramid.
The title of the dvd should be...a Daft Punk logo at the top, and the dvd title at the bottom.
Ok, there, I said it.
These are my ideas, and since there are going to be 3 to 4 covers to chose from, you don't have to listen to me at all :)
But yeah, see about those technical drawings if you want! It would mesh well with the pyramid design you have on the front.

I really like that!!! I'm going to print all these out and change them in my DVD case every so often.
I can change everything that's not like this. The reason being is that I made the back cover completely in paint so it doesn't have any layers for all those pictures. All of the pics and the red shapes are in one layer. But I can do everything else.

Or you could create the whole picture block over again, just re-doing it the way I suggested. Or not, whatever. No Pressure..
AND WOW Steam Machine!
That's pretty effin' sweet!
A few bits here and there I'd change though....
With that said, you could prolly very easily create alternate covers by simply changing the picture (ie a hi-res pic thats more blue-ish, etc.)

Also, another thing.
I said a while back that there were 3 people who's footage was SO good, that I don't think I could bring myself to make the DVD if I can't get a hold of their footage (of course, due to popular demand, I would make it anyway :) ).
But anyway, I'm sure you've seen this dudes videos already...
But heres a link to a sort of BEST OF of his footage.
It's so amazing! I must have it! I messaged the guy a while back, he said he would need to look for the DV tape, but he never got back to me with an answer. I just sent another message to him.

i knew you'd make an awesome cover!
the only thing i would suggest would be to use a different font for the tracklisting. i've never really been a fan of blocks of text written in the daft font... (i'd suggest the fonts DP have been using on releases, either Gill Sans MT or... Futura i think it is? it's been such a long time since we were discussing the fonts, i can't remember...)
also, i'd make the final version 300 dpi and massively huge if you can manage that, but i'm sure you have enough experience to know about that sort of stuff.
i guess this means i should get off my butt and actually finish up mine... lol

And another post from me :)
...
I figure, I should get some things prepared so I dont have to wait for responses later when I finally get to finally putting everything together...
Ok, so one of the special features I want to put on the DVD is multi-angle sequences for certain segments of the show.
What this means is, you will have a choice of what angle you want to watch for a specific song (mind you, this is going to be an extra feature, NOT something for the entire main feature).
However, I need to chose wisely. Why?
Well, a DVD holds 4 hours of standard high quality video.
90 to 100 minutes is gonna be for the main feature.
Add along the data for the menus and other extras I want to put on there.
I SHOULD have enough for one or 2 multi angle sequences.
I should explain that for multi-angles, each angle counts as minutes of footage.
Example:
If I want to do a multi-angle sequence for the ENCORE...
The encore is about 10 minutes.
Lets say I have 6 different angles (a close up, far away, to the side of the stage, etc.)
Thats already 60 minutes of footage data.
(and to put things clearer, if any one has the D.A.F.T. dvd, the side 2 of the Alive 97 show at the Mayan...where you can chose what angle you want...thats what I wanna do).
Basically, I'm asking what you guys want to have multi angle segments for. Please pick your top 2 (mind you, this will all depend on if I have at least 6 different continuous shots of a segment to synch together).
I really want to do the encore for sure, but as I said, that may be all I can fit.
But just in case, what do you wanna see and be able to chose angles for?
I'm aiming for ROBOT ROCK as the 2nd choice for now (based on the footage I currently have).
I might not even have enough room left over for the Encore at all, but I'll try at the very least to get that OR a shorter segment of the show on there.
Thanks!
P.S. :)
Heres a list of the potential extra features I would like to include on the disc...
-Main feature
-3 audio tracks (Bercy album audio, Vegoose audience recording, raw audio from the footage being displayed)
-Subtitle track (will display the location and date of the footage being viewed)
-Animated menus
-Gigography of the 06/07 tour
-DVD credits
-Photo gallery (broken down in 3 catagories: The Show, Behind The Scenes, and Media & Press)
-Harder Better Faster Stronger (Alive 2007 Edit) music video (directed my Gondry)
-02 Wireless broadcast (One More Time/Aerodynamic and Da Funk)
-MTV Japan broadcast (Robot Rock/Touch It/Technologic/Around The World...and i think Television was broadcasted too....forget off hand).
-South American TV Broadcast (Television Rules The Nation/Crescendolls)
-Turin Webcast (first 15 minutes of show)
-DaFunkFest Japan web video (not sure about this yet. I got a hold of the 2 videos that are streaming on the Japan Alive site...it might look too choppy and blocky when blown up for DVD, so I may or may not put this on there)
-Kanye West "STRONGER" music video (featuring Daft Punk)
-Kanye West "STRONGER" live performance at the Grammy's (featuring Daft Punk)
-Electroma trailer
-Multi Angle Sequences (1 or 2...depending on disc space left over)

i think perhaps you are being entirely too ambitious about this...
how about you get the main feature done first then worry about what extras you can include? lol i'd honestly be surprised if just all of the extras you were thinking about could fit on one disc. much less with an hour and a half or so video...
also, why bother including stuff with Stronger? that has nothing to do with the live tour, imo. sure, they were around at the same time, but it's not like Stronger was in the live show or anything.
i'd say the same for the ELECTROMA trailer, though i can kind of see where that would fit in i guess? but i still think it's mostly an extra that's not really necessary...
I hope you'll release it soon because it sounds like the bomb to me
futureproof
24th Jun 2008, 10:22
Piro, you're right.
I think I can actually fit everything I have listed if I don't do the multi-angle thing.
As for Kanye stuff, THE GRAMMY performance is SO necessary.
As for the Stronger video, that'd be just a nice extra because they are in it (but if I can't fit that music video, no biggie obviously).
Same with Electroma trailer. Just a nice way to plug that movie.
And most of the extras i listed, i actually have already. So i dont need to go around finding them :)

Just a little confession, the plan was and is going to be to edit this with Final Cut Pro and author the DVD with DVD Studio Pro (mac software).
I currently dont even have either of those (well, i have FInal Cut Express, which gets the job done, but its a pain in the arse on my weak imac).
I'm eventually going to get a macbook pro with that sweet pro software (not JUST for this project, sillies...i've been wanting both for a while).
And with my new direction in life (moving back with the parents) affording these products will be done in no time....
But just in case it takes longer to save for these things, there is a small possibility my DVD wont be released til 1st quarter of 2009!!!
But I dont think it will take that long.
REMEMBER, quality takes time!! (i don't wanna release a bad production...ie world is daft......its the perfectionist in me...)
Plus, I'm still in collecting mode. Damn fuc kers be taking too long to send me stuff.
Thankfully, sometime this week, i should be getting in the mail the videos of the guy who did the first Coachella DVD. A step in the right direction....
EDIT:
Also, no one has suggested what parts of the show they'd most want for a multi-angle sequence!! Plz suggest!
It really means alot that so many of you peoples are looking forward to this, and I just don't want to disappoint. So just know, the end result will be amazing for what it is...

Yeah, if I had to chose ONE segment to do a multi angle sequence, it would be the encore (simply because its going to hurt editing all the shots I have. I'd love for people to be able to chose what they wanna see from various angles).
But if I can fit everything I want on one DVD without room for a multi-angle sequence, i think i'm just gonna scrap the multi-angle thing all together.
We'll see..........
iRollToDaftPunk

probably a good idea. angles are gonna be changing anyway in the feature right? consistency is key.
but iuno, id love to watch a show from the perfect angles that are 20 feet from the stage right in the middle so you get all the action, ya know wot i mean?
i think the two-dvd thing is a good idea. make it look like a super-awesome-feature-with-abagillion-extra-stuff kinda thing
futureproof
2nd Jul 2008, 09:39
Well of course they are! haha
But the encore is going to be hard to edit as there are alot of good shots that i'm sure people would just want to look at one particular angle throughout, rather than having it edited. Simply for the effect of it.
Anyhoo, heres a video i made for the HBFS radio edit I made a while back, for those who never saw it.
(note: this video doesn't reflect at all the way my DVD will be edited or the amount of footage I have. I just picked some random clips and synched them to the beat and such).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ItqVgaTIjI
fu... ture!! fu...ture!!! fu...ture!!
it seems like the major work will be starting soon best of luck. did you ever get that footage off daily motion you mentioned a few pages back? it was off the higgity....
my vote for the multi-angle segment would have to be for the encore... just because it's so amazing. i personally like the part with all the cross sections of the human body flashing on the pyramid... biology is cool.
but, if file size is an issue then i could see the logic in cutting the multi-angle - the straight on shots are so much more powerful then from off to the side, far away, etc.
p.s. the electroma trailer should definitely be on there

NOTE: if anyone happens to see any good clips on youtube, daily motiion, etc. that they think should be potentially on the DVD, just PM me and I'll try to get in touch with the uploader!).

just a random question out of the blue.
what do you guys think about if i can't get a hold of the raw footage from a handful of people, that I simply rip the videos off of youtube?
The quality wouldn't be as great as if I had the source footage, but there are some shots that I really want in there and the posters won't reply to me, or maybe they don't speak english and just don't bother, or they don't check their youtube messages... bla bla bla
stupid question, i know. but yeah.
And an update. I'm still collecting footage, but if I go this route with some of the people who reply to me (its 4 or 5 people with awesome shots), the DVD may be done sooner.
I recently started organizing and synching the footage I have in Final Cut to the audio.
It's easy, but its just tedious work.
just my 2 cents...
if you think the youtube footage is good enough that it doesn't throw off the rest of the dvd i say go for it.... and then if the youtuber's ever reply then i'm guessing it wouldn't be TOO difficult to swap out the footage.

Well, it was more of a thing about basically taking their footage without permission really.
but then again, I'm not selling this, and the fact is if you upload something to something like youtube, you don't really have any rights lolz
But I've sent several requests to what i refer to as the "Big 4" (4 people who have amazing footage and couldnt imagine my project without their stuff).....
none of the Big 4 have replied. And its been a while too.
But thanks for the input

im guessing youre using file2hd.com to rip youtube vids. if you use that and click download high quality, im sure you can get away with it quality-wise.

Random LONG update/rant !...
I figure i make up for being silent for a while.
So i had planned to edit the entire thing using Final Cut Studio's applications.
I'm still in a bit of a money crunch, so I can't afford any time soon the things to make this thing into uber pro quality.
Not that i wanted to buy it JUST for this. I'm really into editing film and motion graphics, so this would have been a nice way to put out something that I made.
Alas, that will have to wait.
What this means???
-No subtitle track showing location of shots being viewed (but really, aside from audience shots, it doesn't matter where it was filmed. Same show everywhere). And I need the DVD software with Final Cut to do this.
-No alternate audio tracks (I'm just gonna stick with the album audio. I was thinking about doing a compromise of the album audio and Vegoose recording, read more about that later).
I'd also need the DVD software to make alternate audio tracks.
-No super-customized DVD menu screens. (This is where I really would have liked to mess with. In the software, you can create dvd menu screens like you see on official dvds. But at this point, who cares about the menus?? Onto the main feature)!
HOWEVER,....
-None of this will effect the actual main feature (the show, remember?). I still have Final Cut Express (a dumbed down version of the Pro software, which lets me edit the main feature just fine).
-The DVD menus will still look nice and lovely, but it won't be the way I wanted to look. But its just the menus.
-The bonus features won't change.....however.... I have decided to make the contents fit onto a single layer, 4.7GB DVD.
Why?
Because, I've noticed the thing most people do when creating custom concert dvds and such, is they split the data across 2 dvds (i assume because theres alot of people who still don't have a dual layer drive; that is, able to write a dvd with 8gb of data).
Not that someone still can't burn the data. Most DVD burning software can make the contents of an 8gb DVD fit onto a 4.7GB one by decreasing the quality of it a bit.
I don't want that! The clips i've received will go through enough conversion, that it doesn't need to (possibly) be downgraded any more.
Someone here suggested I split the DVD into 2 discs. One for the feature, one for the extras.
I'd rather not. Too much of a hastle for people.
I'm just going to fit what I can with the room left on the DVD.
As of now, it's prolly gonna be:
-HBFS Live Music Video
-STRONGER Grammy Performance with Kanye West
-One More Time/Aerodynamic/Da Funk performance from 02 Wireless (TV Broadcast)
-TELEVISION RULES THE NATION performance from South American TV broadcast
-Photo Gallery
And after all this, it's defiantly gonna be done in early 09.
I've decided to rip some of the clips I want from youtube that people won't reply back to me. Only a few clips though.
YAAAY!!! it's happening!!!
it'll be a nice way to brush up on daft-ness before the next release (if it does in fact drop in march)

and thats it! With the exception of 2 DVD's worth of material coming in the mail, and a handful of people uploading their stuff online within the next week, i am DONE collecting.
All together, 50 people have sent me footage. Its gonna be tough to seed out the unneeded shots n stuff.
This dude from Aussie recorded 2 shows over there with a DV cam, and i must say its beautiful stuff.
Editing it all together is gonna be the tricky part, but I think everyone will love the end results.
In all seriousness, this will be done between january and march. I have school, so that might get in the way, but im hoping for early february!
(and note to self: get 1 or 2 clips from Nspurway!)
ANYWAYS, back to the ideas for the DVD art.
On the Nine Inch Nails forum, someone made some concept art for a DVD they are doing for their tour. (the fans planned this huge stealth operation to sneak in cameras at their last show in Vegas last night to film and edit for a DVD).
I was wondering if someone could duplicate this art, but obviously switch it up to relate to Daft Punk:

A design like this would really sum up the project.
I have decided to not include pro shot stuff in the main feature (ie the 02 Wireless footage...but that will be a bonus feature).
Later people

wow, no replies! :)
Anyone wanna work on that DVD artwork? (see previous post on previous page).
This thing will be done in a month or so. Waiting on the final 2 people to send in their footage in the mail.
Merry X-Mas!
Hey, I'll put something together, not really sure what you mean though.
*edit* ok nvm i just saw the picture you put up

this just in!
several people have spooked me out of using any official footage and audio.
I'm thinking of nixing the extras (kanye+daft @ grammys....HBFS music video...02 Wireless...).
But still keep the gallery obviously.
And I'm dreading on using the Vegas audience recording.
Its not terrible, but I was so set on the album audio.
Maybe there will be an easter egg of sorts on the dvd...something that isn't directly noted, but you have to select a setting with your remote for.....
that is all.

Got the aussie DV footage in the mail the other day!!
Still waiting on the 3 DV tapes from Vegas to come through.
In the meantime, I quickly made a trailer.
This should NOT be viewed necessarily as an indication of the amount of footage and quality stuff I have. I just sort of randomly picked out various bits and put them together.
That, and even in high quality, youtube kinda dumbs down the video quality.
Just sayin' :)

The dude with DV tapes from vegas emailed me (finally) and asked me another series of questions regarding it.
He's, understandably, very clingy to his footage.
He hasn't replied back yet to my response.
I even jokingly said he was the last person I was waiting for.
So close to getting it done! But I won't do it until I get his work in my possession.
lol why?
I want this to be done SOOO BAD!!! how far are you? in %

I sent this to the people who gave me footage or wanted to stay informed:
--------
Hey all.
You may/may not remember me.
You're getting this email because at one time or another I requested daft punk footage for a DVD project that I was working on, or you just wanted to stay informed about it.
It took so long, but.......
It's still not done! I got lazy about it and just put it off to the side. But now I want to get this organized for when it's finally done.
Follow the progress on Twitter (or if you don't use Twitter, just bookmark the page and check back from time to time) for updates and where to get it when it's done.
http://twitter.com/DaftProject
There won't be anymore notices sent to anyone after this (and would prefer to not be contacted through this email address, youtube/myspace/facebook accounts either).
This Twitter account will just be a nice way to organize everyone who has contributed or just wanted to stay updated on this thing.
Between youtube, myspace, facebook, email, and some message boards, I'd rather get everyone organized to look at one central location.
Hopefully it will be done by the end of the summer. But of course, things in life come up and get in the way (school, work, etc.).
I don't want to hype this up as the BEST thing ever. Most of the footage I got was from good digital cameras rather than DV/HD camcorders.
The original idea was just to make an updated feature based on the infamous COACHELLA DVD that came out not too long after the first Alive '06 show.
I also downgraded a lot of the bonus features I said would be on there because they were all official and tv broadcast stuff that could possibly lead to legal issues (prolly not, but why bother since since it's all on youtube anyway).
So this feature will be 100% fan created (all footage and audio is coming from fans who attended shows around the world. The album audio will not be used).
And due to popular demand, I may make a 480p or 720p copy of the main feature (for those who can't be bothered to mess with DVD's or just don't like the MPEG-2 compression).
Thanks for everyones interest and/or contributions!

ps: sorry if any of you got this more than once, as some of you sent stuff from more than one email, etc.
