Well since it's the topic.....
I have 4 "real" days of school left for this year, then I have four final days and that's it then I'm a Junior. And all the final days are half days so we get out at 12:33 instead of 3:00. And after that me and about 4-5 of my friends are going to play music really loud at my house. With the list of sogns I have so far it's going to last a little over half a day.

haha okay so i dont know if ive complained/talked about my photography project to you guys enough, but tough, cause im going to rant about it some more.

so anyways, basically i went into the city today to take pictures of people. because what i have to do is mimic a famous photographer's style and take pictures similar to theirs. the photographer i'm doing takes candid shots of random people he sees on the street. so i became an honorary stalker today.

at first i was like O.O because how weird is that that you're just walking along the street and some random girl comes up to you and takes your picture and walks away? so i felt so awkward and weird when i was trying to get people's pictures that i didnt get many the first hour or so. but afterwards i got a little more comfortable with the pictures and learned how to take them the 'sneaky' way and pretend i was a random tourist looking at all the sites. (we took a LOOONNNG walk through the historical part of the city so we could do this well and get a lot of confused tourists walking around with maps. XD so amusing.)

but after about 5 hours walking around town today i got some really awesome shots that i think i'll be able to use for my project. wanna see?

well who cares, i'm going to show you anyway. have fun looking at people! (none of these are edited)

Do you think we should have a photography thread? Or are there not enough photographers on here?

I find it's easier to do 'espinage photography' in a busy city, or from veeeeery far away lol (But you need a camera with a wicked amount of optical zoom)

Also, lovely shots Aria, what camera do you use?

in case you decide to go that route, we already have a photography thread! spurway started it ages ago. so you guys can go ahead and revive that if you want.

i think that's a cool idea, taking pictures like that. but i also know that if you're doing it on a professional level, even when you're getting candid shots of strangers you still need to get permission and have the subjects sign waivers and stuff. i don't know exactly how that works... take the picture first, and then ask for permission? or what, but i'm sure you could find out about it. but i think it's something you should pay attention to anyway, since it's part of the "ethics" or whatever of photography.

ooh photography thread! awesome... we'll have to revive that and bug the heck out of everyone else on here with OMG LOOKIT LOOKIT MOAR PICTURES!

anyway, thats one of the things that i was trying to do at first. take the pictures from the opposite side of the street or from an odd angle so people wouldnt exactly know that i was taking their pictures. but i realized that i have a really bad camera (like a nikon coolpix 3600 or something like that) that only has 3x optical zoom, so the pictures would come out really fuzzy and would blur easily at the slightest movement. so that really didnt work out.

i think that's a cool idea, taking pictures like that. but i also know that if you're doing it on a professional level, even when you're getting candid shots of strangers you still need to get permission and have the subjects sign waivers and stuff. i don't know exactly how that works... take the picture first, and then ask for permission? or what, but i'm sure you could find out about it. but i think it's something you should pay attention to anyway, since it's part of the "ethics" or whatever of photography.

yeah. i had to talk to my photography teacher about that this morning when i was showing her my contact sheet. she said that some people (if they found out i was taking pictures of them) COULD get extremely angry/demand for the picture back/even sue me if they were that mad, but there were only 4 people that i know of who saw me actually taking their picture- this one guy on a bicycle who waved at me and smiled so im guessing he wasnt that mad, the guy on the motorcycle (first picture i posted) who also smiled, the girl sitting under the tree (i'll run if she comes after me) and the guy sitting on the bench with the canada dry who didnt seem mad at all that i was taking his picture, rather curious as to what in the world i was doing.

so obviously, i felt and still feel really weird about invading these peoples' privacy like that and just snapping away, but my teacher and i both agreed that this was the only way that i would truly be able to mimic the photographer's style and get the type of shots with the raw emotion that he did.

(if you think about it- he did this for over 30 years of his life and HE became a well known photographer, so even if i'm an amateur, at least im not the only person doing this.)

Meh it's not a bad camera for everyday use, but not that great for srs photography. The one I have has 10X Optical zoom, which is pretty much the highest you can get on a digital camera... Until I get my D60 which has... A lot more lol.

Which photographer was you looking at, because your pics kinda remind me of Paul Stands work

My one criticism would be that it took me a while to work out how it worked. The mouse clicks are linked to the top left of the invisible box around the ship, as opposed to say the center of the ship which would probably make more sense.
Apart from that I liked it. I'll assume you did all the art yourself, which is very good. It's quite enjoyable to just play around with, and I was actually quite mesmerized by it, sitting there for several minutes just watching the colours float past, clicking here and there to try and direct the ship... The actual movement of the ship is quite interesting aswell, but I definitely think it's best point is that it's just something nice to look at for while. Thanks for posting.

EDIT: Just realised you can do something quite cool by double or triple (etc) clicking too.

For a lady it's a weird kind of feeling when you realise there are always men who will buy you drinks (= get drunk for free), aaand everything goes down from there. Part-Time Alcoholics Anonymous gathering, anyone? :B

Susan Boyle lost???

What the hell, man!!! Susan Boyle is possibly the best person to ever come from Scotland!!! Oh my lord, her rendition of "Memory" was absolutely stunning. Plus, the tabloids are all bitching off at her cos of "oxygen starvatian at birth"??? WTF DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?!?!?!

Granted, Diversity was an amazing group...*grumble*...

And now the fact she was admitted into a hospital due to breathing problems after the show made things worse.

TBH, Susan Boyle shouldn't have gone onto BGT, she would have been much better on The X Factor. Diversity were epic, and apperently hwe Oxygen starvation is one of the reasons why she is (she had minor brain damage and was called 'Simple Susie' by people as a child) :P

This suggests whatever happened, happened before the crew could put out a mayday radio call. It was likely a sudden and catastrophic emergency.

anyway, OMG I THINK I MADE A NEW BFF TODAY!

so in math class today we were basically just getting quizzes and tests back and looking over them to review for the final exam next week, partially because my teacher doesnt feel like teaching anymore and no one else wants to do any more learning after this, so we sort of had the entire block to just do whatever we wanted. so this guy comes up to me and starts talking to me. and i know who he is, and he seems pretty nice, but the only time where ive ever said something to him was the one day i wore my DP shirt to school actually, and he gave me a high five as he walked past me...

so we were talking for a few minutes, and naturally i had to ask him at some point if he really knew them and liked them. and he said he did, and when i was a bit skeptical and asked how big of a fan he was, he assured me that he was more than just a 'oh yeah, i have 4 of their songs' type of listener.

i dont know if you guys remember the band collage page ive been working on for a while (might post it again later if you forget, because i have OFFICIALLY run out of room) but i handed it over to him and asked him to name all of the bands on there that he knew. and he just starts listing all of them: 'so yeah, daft punk definitely, justice, sebastiAn, danger, pendulum, ting tings, digitalism, hadouken!, ratatat, klaxons, boys noize.....' and im just like: 'O.O... I LOVE YOU!'

turns out that HE was the one to force the guys on the morning announcements to play the pendulum song that got me really into them, AND the one who played the Alive 2007 songs on the morning announcements as well. he showed me this pocket watch that he had that had a black and gold cross on it that looked freakishly like the justice cover, and even recommended a few artists!!

so im wearing my D.A.N.C.E. shirt tomorrow. hopefully he'll spazz. i might even tell him to look around this place if he's interested.

Yeah, they deservedly won. I voted for them.

French plane lost in ocean storm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8076848.stm)
Yeah I was a bit saddened by that.. Being Air France and all. At this point the world would be pretty surprised if a single person survived. You don't crash land in the middle of the sea, you just crash.
Sigh.

All good points. At the complete disregard to her physical and mental health, Simon Cowell will make sure she makes a lot of money (so that he can make even more than her). At no point was I particularly impressed with her singing anyway. Diversity were sheer genius.

...but I'll give them props since there are 2 little kids...
The decathlon video was vaguely interesting, better than the first. But it wasn't Diversity, because like it says on the tin, Diversity are diverse. It's all choreographed by just one of the members, and the ideas he comes up with are genius. The "two little kids" are often part of the comedy of the act. That Quest Crew is mostly standard dancing, with a couple moments of breakdancing skill. Diversity is actually a little bit.. different. More a testament to brilliant choreography than perfect dancing I'd say, which was no more or less perfect than the dancing by Quest Crew, or many other dancing groups we've seen over and over again.
I would definitely rather watch Diversity. Again, worthy winners.

Shutting down all on-going conversation to share two amazing trailers (http://www.d-9.com/) for two amazing films (http://chooseyoursurrogate.com/) with you!
D-9 seemed vaguely interesting, but Surrogates seems to be really interesting, if far too reminiscent of The Matrix in it's general idea. Not that it doesn't look fascinating in it's own right, but the starting idea I wouldn't have thought is that original. Fancy seeing that at some point. That point being when it comes out. Anyway..

PS: Just heard on the radio that the wreckage of that plane has been found. "It's not thought anyone would have survived". And by wreckage, they do mean seats and plane debris floating in the water. So, yeah.. unfortunately...

Pants3000

but of course, 5 minutes later, he loses it. "BRANDON YOU IDIOT, YOU OWE ME TWENTY BUCKS!"

however, as you probably could have guessed by the picture, i got it back. and now i cant bear to think of spending it =P

I can't even rip a piece of paper in half evenly. It always curves majorly and/or one piece is way bigger than the other.

Have you watched 'Home' on TV ?
It was broadcasted tonight in France, but also in Russia, New Zealand, Australia and a few others...and in the US in a few hours. :)

I watched it a lil bit, really nice pics and beautiful landscapes, a good way to acquaint people from global warming =)

I absolutely hated the day 3 days after my surgery.
I had back spasms and they absolutely caned.

Just before the surgery the anaesthetist kept poking me with the frikkin needle to find my vein.
I was mega pissed at him and I said "Hurry the frig up! You realise you are hurting me that way!"
I felt bad for cracking it at him as he was doing job but then again I had mega bruises on my arms.

A well known character in our town, a homeless guy named Wayno, died the other day. He was a legend. He always kept to himself. He used to be super rich and he'd have $100 notes in his wallet (I think he had a terrible accident and was brain damaged and got lost in society). He didn't know they were there. He was a trooper and he could even speak latin. Everyone knew him and would say hi to him. People would buy him Christmas presents and food (I bought him a cheeseburger from McDonalds once). He even has a facebook page devoted to him, he has over 3000 fans.

That is just soooo totally awesome. I wish I had the skills and patience to do that kind of stuff. I could name 80% of the bands. The bands that I wasn't able to name were because there were so many that when I was trying to decipher the somewhat hidden logos, I got lost in looking at another band name I hadn't found before.

It's awesome. Great job on the collage.

Beardyman! Amazing on the Youtube videos, amazing live too. :O (Oh, and Staceylala - I'll contact you in a couple of days about my visit to London, have to book a hostel etc first. :B)

Random TL;DR, but feel free to offer your thoughts if you read this:

This Friday, option 1: go to a big, BIG (private) party, pretty much all the "famous/important" people in the Finnish game industry will be there + game industry = we're all alcoholics = don't have to look that nice, as long as you have fun, BUT I'd be kind of alone because I'm one of the very few ladies and I only know a couple of guys there (as I said, private party).
Option 2: go to an old (not so close anymore) friend's graduation party, in which case get a nice (expensive) present, look nice, act nice, blahblahblah.
(Option 3: Be an unsocial bastardo: stay home and relax.)

Now what to do, what to do? That said, I do have to get her a present in any case, so any recommendations as to what would be nice? For these couple of other old friends (with whom I'm closer, but not nearly as close as I used to be with this new graduate.) I got these ~100-150 € necklaces -- would a ~30-50 € necklace be good or just like saying "Oh, yeah, we are (were) friends, hence I got the present, but not a close friends, kthxbai"?

am i sensing another TDC couple in the making? =P

(kidding, kidding.... maybe)

okay, so how horrible is this? i just got my grades back for the semester, and adding on the final exams i got an 89.2 in chemistry and an 89.3 in math. now, you need at least an 89.49 to get an A in the course (these were the only two courses that i got a B in unfortunately), and i was talking to my chemistry teacher, and i got an A on that final and she knows i worked my butt of in her class, but i just never really 'got' chemistry. so she told me that she would consider bumping my grade up .3 of a point to give me the A. and will my math teacher bump me up just .2 of a point to give me that A as well when i worked equally as hard in her class? no. of course not. cause she's pure evil. *fumes*

Yeah, go for it you two, just don't do it via the medium of the forum thank you very much!
And I feel for you in your slightly missed percentages. I'm sure you did work your ass off, unfortunately in the real world sometimes your grade depends on your result, not on your effort! Sad, but true.
Maybe you should have accepted more of my Math help HUMM!!!

and as it's not 'academic' (bullcrap) you don't need A LOT of points lol.
I'm trying for Uni of east london, simply because it's a short train ride away, so I can stay at home (and save the money that I wouls be spending on accomedation) but it's highly regarded for arts too

Screw time zones, everytime I hop on the arvos I have to go back and read everything.

3 assessment tasks, 3 to go!
Art shouldn't be to hard obviously.
The teacher is a nut case, she's getting us to do a ceramic landscape thing when ACTUALLY we have to draw a landscape (as it says in the bloody syllabus!)
Teacher = NONG.
Advanced english, basically sort of like art theory but you have poems on top of that!
Poems are ew. (They're okay but I hate studying poetry.)
Maths, that shouldn't be too bad as we can have 2 page cheat sheet for it.
I swear I failed chemistry practical task. I just don't bloody get equations!
Teacher explains it to fast for me. Doesn't help.
Woot! My old art teacher is letting me take home screenprinting stuff for my Daft Punk T-shirt soon. She's a legend.

Oh and the funniest thing, I was at my grandparents house just before, Bless them. We were watching a show on the Telley about Orangutans right? There was this little bit of this Orangutan spewing and my grandfather were like "OMG EWWW!". My grandmother was facing away from the telley and turned around to see what was happened and it was just after the Orangutan finished puking she says "Oh isn't he cute?" Grandfather are like ... then LOLZ.

(Now that wasn't relevant at all yes?)

Jesus Christ! I dunno how to stop it, but I think maybe call a doctor and find out what to do. Half an hour is a long time to be in 'inexplicable pain'.

I know if it's on your right side, it could be problems with e.g. gallbladder(?), which may or may not be bad (I've apparently had such thing a couple of times, but here I am, still alive (haven't visited a doctor)). But if your (horrible) pain continues, and esp. if it's on your left side, go to the hospital ASAP. (Was told this by my mom, who's some sort of a nurse.)

Random TL;DR, but feel free to offer your thoughts if you read this:

one of the parties, definitely. can't say which, go to whichever one you feel will benefit you more. decide whether the fun/job contacts would be better than rekindling old friendship connections. not sure if you thought about it in those terms or not. (probably, right?) also present, i wouldn't be able to suggest something without knowing the girl. think about stuff she likes or is interested in and what sorts of present-like things would be both interesting and useful.

So one of my birthday gifts was a PS3 game called InFamous. It's so fun and I love how I can do ANYTHING. I'm sure if anyone here has played a game and seen something and gone, "Man, that'd be cool if I could use that thing to do this...BUT I CAN'T." But in InFamous you can do ANYTHING. :D It's really fun. And electricity powers = awesome. The graphics aren't AMAZING. Like they shrivel in comparison to say Metal Gear Solid 4, but they're acceptable. So anyway, that's my review on it. *goes back to playing*

My grades are rated from 0 to 20. I just hope i can pass my Applied Maths test and get a somewhat decent (not even saying positive) grade at History, so i dont end the year with a negative mark (something i never had)
