Haha, my mom's a radiologist. :B In (public hospitals in) Finland the salary isn't that great, but if you move to, say, Canada or the United Arab Emirates, you'll apparently get a filthy good salary. Just sayin'. :P

Guys, my sister was kicked by a horse, and I'm just back from Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown: Her liver has burst due to the force of the kick, she had lost almost three litres of blood, bleeding internally. By the time the ambulance arrived at the hospital, the trauma team were prepped and brought her straight to the O.R. Due to the force of the kick, a large portion of her liver is unusable, so it'll have to be removed. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to hear about her progress. The good news is: She's got youth on her side, so hopefully, she'll live. She has been transferred to Vincent's Hospital in South Dublin for 24-hour observation. Hopefully, she won't need a transplant: That'll be a last-resort issue. I'm so happy that she's alive. She's my best friend, and I love her to bits. I would really miss her if she died. This near-miss with the death of a sibling made me realise how much I'd miss someone if they passed on, even if it was one of my friends, or one of my friends here. I care for each and every one of you guys. Some of you I may not know very well, and some I know very well, but each one of you means something to me. :love:

I thought that the liver regenerates, because when you make a liver transplant the doctors only puts a piece of it which eventually grows to it's natural size.

@Daft_funk: The consultant said that after they remove the unusable portion of her liver, the rest will regenerate, but the main problem is the blood flow in her liver: The right vein needs to be re-routed around the remaining active part of her liver, but they said that she'll do fine when the rest grows back. Only time will tell.

if i were with you right now i'd give you a huge hug. i'm very sorry to hear that. but you know what? odds are she's going to be alright. i'm sure the hospital she is in has very good doctors, and if what you're saying is the reality of the condition, she'll pull through perfectly fine. the human body has a miraculous will to survive and i'm sure your sister's is no exception. so all you have to do is figure out what you're going to do with her when she's all fixed up and better =]

On a happier note, I went to an 18th and it was rather fun.
Danced around and Da Funk came on the juke box and me and my mate were like "DON'T CHANGE IT DON'T CHANGE IT!" noone did and only me and him were dancing to it and everyone else was just looking at us and i'm like ._.' but when Around the World came on, everyone was dancing and I did some of the dance from the clip lmao. Did the nutbush and makarena, had to really concerntrate to do that, as I was under the influence. The teens went to bed before the adults which was funny. I drew on my friends feet when she was sleeping hahaha. Played some extreme table tennis. Twas rad. But only downside was some friend of mine had to be an idiot and get so drunk and spew everywhere, and he nearly poked my eye out too the fool. Silly idiot.

My turn for a story now.

I wanted to watch the Formula 1 race at Australia. The race started at 7am for me, so i set up my alarm clock (which is my cellphone) to 6:45.

I am aware that last night was Daylight Savings, but the cell phone says that it updates automatically, so i thought "no problem, it'll advance the clock and i'll be fine".

I wake up, look at the cellphone. Its 7:36 on it. I didnt hear it ring. I get up real quick and run to the TV, thinking i had only missed the first half hour.

I turn on the TV and the first thing i see is the winner waving his arms inside the car a couple of corners past the finish. I was gutted. My freaking cellphone didnt wake me up, nor it changed the clock. It was 8:36 and i missed what was probably the best race of the season, knowing F1.

A couple of minutes ago, though, my mom came into the living room and said: "Wow, you woke up early. Wanted to watch a race?" I said: "Yeah, but the cellphone didnt change the clock and didnt ring." "Yes it did, i heard it." - she replied.

And then, it hit me.

I always put my cellphone next to the window, behind the curtain, because i dont have a bedside table. But when i woke up and looked at the phone, it was right beside me, on the bed. Which means that: The phone rang, i turned the alarm off and kept sleeping. But i have no memory of doing such a thing.

In conclusion: Thanks to my phone and my mind, i missed what was an awesome race, from what ive seen on some places.

meh daylight savings. that sort of thing with your cell phone happens to me too lately sometimes. because i have an alarm clock that i bought maybe 4 or 5 years ago that sets itself whenever you plug it in, and its supposed to automatically change for daylight savings. the only problem is that now the US has daylight savings two weeks(?) earlier than everyone else in the world i think. so i have to reset it manually now.

but the real problem though, is that it still thinks daylight saving's time is when it used to be, so the clock (even though i set it an hour ahead earlier) will still push itself forward when that time comes. so many a year i have woken up thinking i've missed doctor's appointments, the morning itself, or other various things.

and that is why I've turned automatic daylight saving time changing off in my phone. I change the clock manually before going to sleep. I win ^^

yes I have been there. I lived there for four months with a Parisian so I saw all of it.
and yes, there are bad parts, but this is like any city. I still love Paris. And I love the French, regardless of their arrogance. (although I'm one to find arrogance quite sexy). I would move back there in a heartbeat.

anyways, URGH how frustrating is this?: i'm looking forever for a prom dress for the prom next month, rite? the first dress i look at it really pretty. but blue. and i'm known for being THE blue person- like everything i own is blue, so i decide not to get it because i dont want to wear a blue dress. but then every single gown i try on the looks good on me only comes in blue. so i finally settle on a navy dress. a month passes and we're still looking for shoes, after we found a bag and jewelry and stuff like that. so we go and try on shoes and we find out ZOMG its impossible to wear shoes with this stupid dress because its too short. so literally, id have to be wearing nothing on my feet for it to be the right length. great.

so this means i have to get a new dress. so we're panicking so we think 'oh we'll go back to the first place and look at the first dress again because it looked so good' so we called them and they still had it so we went back. turns out they really didnt have it. someone had come in yesterday and gotten the exact dress i tried on and that was the only one in the store. she's from my school too, so even if i had gotten another one somewhere, we'd have the same dress. but wait! we found out she's a senior, so its okay because i'm not going to the senior prom. so we call the company to get another dress, but it turns out they're completely sold out of that dress. the only thing left is another blue dress that looks similar, but it doesnt look as good on me, and needs a TON of adjustments (the first dress made me loook suuuuuuuuuper sexy =P).

so i pretty much had no choice, because its getting very late to buy dresses, and we didnt have time to look anywhere else. i'm upset. -.-

This. We were talking about the news with my parents, and they were all, "In Finland it's, like, against the law for the president to fly with other high-ranking politicians etcetc." So really, why the hell would they be in the same plane?!

ah see it pays to take the initiative! a lot of guys are really shy and afraid of rejection. i think girls handle it a bit better.
