fwiw, i liked Avengers because my friend is totally into the comics and we bro'd it up hardcore. i had been wanting to watch Cap on my own since it came out (but moved to Japan right on/around release date), so when i came back that was the first movie i watched with my friend. i hadn't seen any of the other [Avengers "prequel"] movies before this past week, and while i wouldn't say they were all masterpieces, i enjoyed pretty much all of them, so why wouldn't i be excited about watching another movie in the series? especially with my friends' enthusiasm and the numerous inside jokes we developed while watching/commenting on the previous movies.

the vast majority of people who are freaking out about Avengers are not 9gaggers, but are likely comic fans (and their less-comically-inclined friends!) who have been waiting for this for literally years, especially since the previous films had all been handled relatively well by the studios/directors.

of course there's always going to be some people riding hype coattails, but it's a movie. does it really matter? it'll pass eventually, so if u mad, calm yo tits.

So... College is getting really close for me and I'm going to MTSU for there RIM program and to pursue this music stuff to a whole new level! While plans originally were made out in California a few of my friends who are actually in the business have helped me decide on MTSU because I'd save a lot of money and I wouldn't be in an insane amount of debt... As high school finally comes to an end (thank god!) relationships are also coming to a close. I'm glad that I'll be out of state and away from home because I'll be away from my cousins who've caused nothing but trouble for me. Can I just say I have been on the verge of tears today after all the hate from the video thread. I love all you guys, even if you 'have no respect for me', and it just really sucked to get so much hate. You're like my best friends. I made the video because I thought a few people would think it was funny (which they did)..I'd never do something purposely to piss people here off, though apparently I have, and as I've said in other threads, I'm sorry. Just the fact I was so close (and still am) to being permanently banned from talking to you people, my best friends, was really terrible. I know we all hate matty for the disruption he caused on these forums (i especially got peeved) and i know some of you blame Aden for bringing him here in the first place. That's all fair enough, but now i think he's just trying to have a bit of fun, and make light of the whole situation. Some of us just don't find it funny at all, which is fine, but some have forgiven and forgotten, and if he wants to make a joke thread, especially in the lounge section, i don't really see a problem with that. If you are still annoyed with aden over the whole matty incident that's fine, but you don't have to partake in the joke threads. It's just a bit of fun, that's all. No, but the IP of whoever (and I do have some idea of who it is) made the Randals18 account lives in the same state as me, and was logging in at school. So now the IP for Queensland school computers has been banned. You can't get on..Every single computer in every school in all of my state. I've messaged Piro to unblock it but..you know.

I think it's also just the government smart classrooms logon IP..So that's pretty much every computer apart from ones in people's homes not connected to the network (like mine.)

in many ways i do actually have to be a police officer. it's part of the job description and all. i don't think that has slipped into "dictator" or abuse of power, but you're always free to give me a reality check if that's become the case.

in this particular case, because it was an issue of security/serious violation of T&C, heavy measures were necessary. although i do [now] believe sa and that it was just a joke, at the time there was (and actually still is) no real, concrete way for me to know who has access to an account other than the hard evidence provided by the IP logs. unfortunately the government/school IP complicated things... i hope you all can agree to me that it is a legitimate club issue if we can't be sure if a notoriously disruptive user is trying to circumvent bans.

yes, i was a little heavy-handed, but given that we had dealt with this exact issue before and that the situation still came up yet again, i feel like there was no other choice. i would much rather apologize and do some un-banning rather than allow the club to be dug deeper into the troll hole. if something unfortunately inconveniences one or two members, but is still better for the club as a whole, well... that's the best thing to do in my mind.

Technically it is summer here in Orrland, but I'm not on summer break yet, I have exams. On the upside, I have three done and only two more next week. I'm so excited for summer.

Summer vacation started 2 weeks ago for me! :D
Working on a DP-themed costume for Halloween, currently. I just need 314 studs for my jacket and I'm in business. I'm thinking of maybe ordering them, since Hobby Lobby and Michael's has nothing but flat ones.
Also working on paintings for wedding gifts, practicing flute for Senior Recital (eek!), and playing with my new pedal for my keyboard.
Pokemon White is a great time-killer, too. Lol. I feel like a little kid again, seeing all these Pokemon I don't know anything about. However, not feeling prepared for story events or gym leaders makes me want to chuck my DS across the room sometimes.

Well, I didn't go to Beverly Hills, but I did drive down Hollywood Blvd for the heck of it. Lots of tourists 0_0 I like the experience of traveling (I prefer to drive but sometimes flying is necessary,) and it's exciting to be someplace new. But I'm a homebody: once I get there, I don't really like to stay for long. Awesome that you got to meet Busy P though.

no offense, but honestly there's a lot wrong with this... to start with if you want to know more about Japan it's much easier if you ask specific questions. i've been studying/learning about Japan and now living here for so long it's sometimes difficult for me to know what's common knowledge and what's not, so i can't just give you a "this is Japan" speech. plus there's still lots i don't know.

yes, of course people are friendly. Japan is famous for it's hospitality, amirite? that doesn't mean that everyone necessarily is, though. there are nice people and mean people everywhere, but as a whole Japanese people do tend to go out of their way to be nice/helpful to foreigners (though to be honest i'm not quite sure if this is problematic in the big picture or not, though... i'm still figuring that one out...).

i don't know much about the airline industry, but presumably if you moved to Japan for flying, you wouldn't necessarily be spending tons of time in Japan because you'd be flying other places, amirite?

hating that everything is in Japanese in Japan is, well... kinda dumb. of course everything's going to be in Japanese! like, going to another country means getting out of your comfort zone and also probably becoming illiterate for at least a bit.

i'm a little confused, though... you seem to sound like you've been to Tokyo and complain about only Japanese? Tokyo of all places has tons of English. a lot of the important signage in train stations has English on it, and even the train announcements are given in English! (protip: that's not everywhere in Japan; i live in a large city and we don't have English announcements.) it's crazy easy to get English menus and such in Tokyo, too, and it's a lot more common for shops to have staff with some level of English because there are so many foreigners and foreign tourists there.

also a lot of people seem to think Japan = (as you put it) "emos and anime freaks," sorry but no. Japan does not equal anime. it's here and it's relatively popular, but that doesn't mean everyone is otaku-obsessive. it's just cartoons. even in Tokyo you shouldn't have really seen that many people like that unless you exclusively hung out in Harajuku and Akihabara, which are respectively the crazy fashion district and the video game/anime/electronics/nerd district.

Japan can be weird, but it's not as crazy "woaaahhh anime. woaaaahhh robots. woaaaaahh scantily clad women." as a lot of Westerners with little-to-no-experience seem to think. it's actually SHOX kind of normal.

My mom used to tell me stories when she left Vietnam, she spent 1-2 years in Japan before going to the U.S. She forgot most of the Japanese learned, but she never forgot the places she saw. Well, when you've lived your whole life in one country and a specific culture, how can that not be the center of your universe? That's a part who you are. When visiting a foreign country where everything is different, of course it's going to seem like opposite land. And then stereotypes make it even worse. So don't get angry if tourists come to Australia with very warped views of kangaroos and Aboriginals - they just don't know any better because they don't have kangaroos and Aboriginals where they live.

Dude, don't be silly, everyone deserves rep; especially if they're here everyday, actively posting and keeping the board going. You've earned each and every one of those rep bars. I'm really happy that people enjoy and are responding to the articles and the pics from Independence. It's definitely time-consuming and expensive (although I've probably spent way more on my sword collection than magazines,) but I know I can do a good and thorough job, and being able to share that stuff with you guys is why I do it. And there's no real meaning to my username - it really is just a random bunch of letters. I started out as just ifc on another forum, but everybody kept assuming it stood for the Independent Film Channel, so I tacked on some more letters :D

I don't know if any of you read comics ( or are even comic book fans ) But I made a very awesome purchase today....I finally pulled the trigger and purchased issue 252 of the amazing spiderman series, or the first appearance of the Black Suited spiderman! I have wanted this thing for a long time and now I finally have it! Black suited spiderman is definitively my favourite character design.

I don't know if any of you read comics ( or are even comic book fans ) But I made a very awesome purchase today....I finally pulled the trigger and purchased issue 252 of the amazing spiderman series, or the first appearance of the Black Suited spiderman! I have wanted this thing for a long time and now I finally have it! Black suited spiderman is definitively my favourite character design.
