remember that Daft cover of Clash magazine?
here's the interview.
once again Guy Man sneaks in with an awesome quote at the end! XD
i think it's really interesting how they discuss the robots as separate from themselves, and i really like that.

Guy! My hero! I was loling when he said it's great for them and great for the robots. It also clears up why the suits don't light up any more.

"...Clash to discuss their endless ‘experimenting’, the collapse of the record industry, why it’s Radiohead’s fault and just when exactly we can expect new material from them…."
Did anyone get the full article and know when that will be....?

Haha! I love it when Guy Man does that, it changed the whole feel of the interview when you read it in a way.
"Robuts can do that!"

you have to buy the magazine to read the full article as it says at the bottom of the page.
Sticks, that was in the Annie Mac interview, right? He rarely speaks but when he does it's quite funny.

ah, yeah, that's what i thought. namely because the "when will we be seeing new material from them?" question wasn't answered. XD

i have the interview as well.some good insights from tom and guy especially this one:
Whats the most challenging part of performing in robot outfits?:
Guy-Man:Oh! Just doing it is a big challenge, especially doing mostly summer tours and now we go to Australia in our winter it will be summer for them and so its really like being in Formula 1 as it really, really getting hot in there and we are losing so much fluid every night but its really sweaty when we come off stage. We are really focused on what we have to do and we are so supported by the energy of the show we dont have time to think about it. But its very, very hot.
So Thomas hasnt fallen off the stage or accidentally unplugged the entire power supply?:
Guy-Man:Not yet, no.
piroteki
18th Nov 2007, 21:06
aw. lol yeah, that's totally understandable.
imagine what it would be like if they had the lights coming down on them instead of from behind them and in to the sides! talk about some heat!
btw, anyone with this magazine wanna share the rest of it? XD

that took me FOREVER to read, but it was worth it, my favorite quotes:
"it's really a hybrid art form - that is daft punk"
"So Thomas hasn't fallen off the stage or accidentally unplugged the entire power supply?"

my cousin said he saw the chemical brothers once, and the whole power went out in the middle of the show. they had to like reboot. must have sucked.

Really good article. Awful to read though but worth it.
This gives everyone much joy as to the future of Daft Punk.

digitalism had to reboot when i saw them at Oxegen too.It was hilarious, even though i love the band, they looked so terrified.Isi started clapping to try and draw the audiences attention while Jence ran round setting everythin up again.

Er, Guy-Man says that if he drinks too much water, he can't, erm, relieve himself. But how can they drink with the helmets on??

interesting point.although come to think of it,ive never felt the need to drink anything while i was watching them play live (its a little distracting ;)).

I suppose he means before the show? *shrug* In my experience when I've had to perform I never got water breaks since the stuff I've participated in went on without ANY breaks whatsoever, though in retrospect it would have been much better if I did, lol.

Hmm. But surely they need to drink? They're in leather and their heads are covered and they're under hot hot spotlights so they're basically baked.

I supposeeee. In which case I guess the hydro pack thing might be plausible though I never even heard of them until this thread XD

They prolly drink a full bottle of water before the helmets go on and they head out to stage.

that was essentially my guess.i assume they change suits (or at least helmets) before the encore, considering how much LED they would be carryin for the entire show otherwise?
piroteki
30th Nov 2007, 22:51
yeah, they change suits and helmets. if you look at Hedi Slimane fan club or whatever pictures on flickr, you can see that the suits are different. it should be fairly obvious that they change helmets...
anyway, yeah. you can definitely see the LED tubing on the suits even if they're not lit up, and it looks to me--though i could be wrong--that the material of the suit itself is different between the regular ones and the LED ones.

I just actually noticed the fact that the helmets even were a different colour. They are black.
lol I thought the exact same thing, they had to have changed just after they did the applause, to do the encore.
Obviously I can see they did. ;)

If you mean the first pic I posted, I kinda see what you mean. He looks skinnier, but then again the other suits appear to be like "trash bags" compared to the nice light leather they wear the rest of the show.

probably highly uncomfortable to wear too.squeak squeak etc.
