I feel I should post this in a 'newbie' section... Feel so ashamed for having to ask but... what is the song "Together"...?
bladez

I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong but I think Together was the name not only of the song but also of the act Thomas Bangalter and DJ Falcon did - they also did So Much Love To Give.

Yeah it was the name of the collaboration between Bangalter and DJ Falcon, before Prydz's Call On Me became mainstream it was mistakenly associated to them, but in reality So Much Love To Give was just an inspiration for Prydz to record Call On Me.

I heard that was Stardust's "Music Sounds Better with You"
Stardust is Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe, and Benjamin Diamond

Call On Me was not mistaken for a Together production it WAS a Together release and it was ment for an album Thomas & Falcon were doing. But because the ear problems that Thomas suffered from during the Cassius & Together tour and the fact that they couldn't clear the sample(s) resulted in cancelling the remaining releases.
As for "prove" there are a few interviews with Falcon and Bob Sinclar explaining the situation, but more obivious is the fact that Falcon already played the track live in 2002 during his famous Ableton sets while Eric Prydz only released "his' (lesser) version of the track 2 and a half years later.

Didn't Call On Me get pressed up on Roule as well, but never actually released? Or was that a bootleg? I remember this blowing up on the old Daft Club forums long ago.
Justin

If I'm correct there was never a Roule pressing, in fact at that time So Much Love To Give wasn't even released yet. The problem with Call On Me was mainly the fact that they didn't get sample clearance (or at least not for free, since Eric Prydz apparently got it 2 years later). So I'm sure the version around at that time were bootlegs (one made for fun by Daftmafia on the old DC boards got pressed on alot of white label releases). It's a shame really, since the best version of Call On Me therefore was never released.

Ahh cool mate. You mention DaftMafia..that wakes up some memory cells...oo-er!!
I remember a thread where they deliberatley tried to make the track sound like a Together song - was the Daftmafia release the result of that? I still have the MP3 from those days, although I can't remember the specifics now.

I think that was when Gym Tonic was made. I think Bangalter decided to just manage the song for Sinclar.

Yep, that must have been for Gym Tonic. Thomas actually produced that track for Bob. However Bob had to remix one of the vulture releases (turned out to be Stardust) and he wasn't allowed to release Gym Tonic as a single. This meant that yet another producer basically stole the track and did release it in the UK (it went to #2 if I'm correct). I can't recall who it was that released the single, but it wasn't Bob Sinclar.

Gym Tonic was on Bob Sinclairs first album Paradise. Rumour has it Sinclair nicked the idea of the Jane Fonda sample or something from Bangalter, so he credited him as a programmer for the track.Bangalter was suposedly peeved at SInclair for nicking his idea and didn't want the track to get releaed as a single - something to do with the then recent Stardust single which was pretty new at that time.
Consequently, a major label picked up on the interest in the track and got some unknowns to record a new version under the name Spacedust. I think these guys also redid Music Sounds Better With You but changed the name around a bit.
As we all know, this is common place with major labels - Eric Prydz/Call On Me and the Freeloaders/So Much Love To Give are prime examples.

Ah yes, Spacedust was the name I was looking for. However I'm pretty sure the Gym Tonic "swap" was done on a friendly base and wasn't nicked from Bangalter. In fact Bob Sinclar started with the intention of consisting of several producers, but in the end Chris Le Friant took the role of Bob Sinclar. But the outcome remains the same regardless, both didn't really earn money from it, as it is Spacedust that ultimately was the lucky third.

the swap was done on a friendly basis, but it was jane fonda who wouldnt clear the sample of her doing the workout, so spacedust, recovered the sample and released it

Spacedust actually released "Music Feels Good With You" a burden copy of Stardust's. And they also released "Gin And Tonic' an obvious pun on Gym Tonic.

What's from the Daft Club? All that Roule stuff?
I never joined (despite having a card, how sad), but as far as I know everything that was available there is on the Daft Club CD.
I don't see why non Daft Punk stuff would appear on there, but I could be proved wrong.

Daft Club pretty much just had remixes of their songs. They also had Alive 1997 on there and instrumental and acapella version of HBFS. Eventually the majority of the remixes were released on the album Daft Club.

The only place we can link you to here is gonna be to a page to buy the record dude. We can't link you to an mp3 as it's commercially available, although rare...
Best bet is ebay... But it was never released on CD

I dont wanna rock the boat admin but may I say....(here we go )
Buying from ebay is no different to downloading to a certain extent (I'm not talking brand new albums here that are available in the shops). The music is being obtained via secondary means therefore the artist doesn't actually get any royalties from the ebay sale, as they wouldn't from an 'illegal' download.
Unless it's bought from a shop (high street or online) or a legal MP3 place such as iTunes the artist makes nothing from it. I don't know if Together is available on iTunes (I dont use it) but it is not "comercially available" - if it was, you could order it into any high street shop.
It's a bit of a black hole though because of course downloading for "free" is considered stealing, but if the song in question is not available by any legal method what is the alternative?

i know what you're saying, bladez.
i think in most times, though, buying something second hand is pretty different, in that the original owner doesn't keep a copy of the CD/vinyl. that's why we're having all these problems with copyright and digital media.
anyway, my general sentiment is that, it's "okay" to download a song even if it's currently commercially available if you're planning on buying it, or if it's out of print. of course that doesn't mean that i always practice that ideology unfortunately, but i at least try to. ^^;;
but yeah, even so, we agreed earlier that there would be no links like that, so that's what i'm sticking to here at least.
You can download it on limewire - if you have that installed on you computer. it'v very rare to find a copy on vinyl.
