He requested an EP to be put on GSR. Maybe he wants to be on 2 record labels. A lot of artists do that. I also didn't know about him being on your label too. I was unaware of this occurance. He never told me about it.
Electromatic, please remove that photograph of me from the GSR site. You do not have permission to use to use photos of me. The cartoon pic was just fine.
Dark_DJ
20th Feb 2010, 09:42
Permission for photographs should always be obtained first....
This label needs alot more communication between administrators and artists, it seems. As we are all technically co-administrators for the label, I think that me, sebon, and boba should have a proper discussion regarding this.
It also needs a properly advertised distribution channel. I'm thinking of making that myspace and youtube for it soon in any case, when I have some free time.
Boba, i'll also remove the picture of you from the GSR facebook too, I apologise for thate upload, I believed Electromatic had asked permission first.

lol. He wrote to me, and everything's alright (:
I just thought that as an artist you could only have one record label d:

Ok that's good.
So Dark and Boba, the only reason I used that picture was because it was a good picture and my favorite on your MySpace and that I needed a temporaray picture when the new site was up. Sorry that I didn't ask you for that picture. I just thought that it was ok to use it because it was on your MySpace. It's no biggie. I made small mistake. You can send me the picture you want to use. I want to please the artists and make them feel welcomed on the label and not be treated like junk.

and that's completely fiine man. Just need to remember to ask in future ;)
on the subject of pictures, I can send some more "Press" pictures soon mind.
I'll start work on the myspace/youtube soon, but i'll need permission from the artists as to which songs I can upload, so any artists here wanna throw some permissions? They will most likely be uploaded as edited versions with a GSR website link encorporated into the art. I'll create a demo ad video soon.
No, sir, it was not on my Myspace. It was on my cousin's myspace, in my tagged pictures folder.
This is what you were using, this is what I would like you to go back to using.

I was thinking for the YouTube page will be for Music Videos, Behind The Scenes, Shows, stuff like that. We can still have a "song" video if that will be good advertisement.

It's about time we have some more French House. This brand new self titled album by Earl Grey will make your brain explode with excitement and your heart will filled with joy. Another great thing about this release is that it's on a digital vinyl! Get ready to be blown away.

Realistically, do we even have any of these kind of videos to upload? I have maybe one proper music video.
sure if anyone else has any, you should ask around to see if people have these kind of videos. I wont be uploading 50 sebon practice sessions, mind...
I recon some 30 minute videos with audio and images, with an advertising image for GS!R, would suffice for now, until we have some proper videos to upload to it.
As for the myspace, we'll still need permissions for that.

If you want, I may be able to help on the Get Some! Youtube page also. I'm working on a music video for Peace and some live sets.
On a side note, the new release is pretty good!
Dark_DJ
20th Feb 2010, 21:39
That'd be nice, waybig. I beleive I'm to be the Youtube manager person, if thats ok of course with everyone? So if you can make some videos and help me with writing up links and information, would that work?

I don't even have any videos for Sebon. Lol. I think Ads for GS!R and flash video ads for albums will make the label and the YT page more professional.
Who wants to make the MySpace page?

I'll be on that! I'll get my crew to make some ads and stuff. I'll be working on this for the next few weeks. Heck, I might even try to work out a banner. I will need the Get Some! Logo that I will need to use.

Fair enough, waybig.
I've started the GSR youtube = http://www.youtube.com/user/RecordsGetSome
I've added a few members from tdc onto it as of right now, and ive edited some of the information. Once I know exactly what else needs to be done on it, i'll sort some more info/videos out. I also hope you like the little demo advert video thing I made...

You know the Earl Grey sig you edited for the intro of the GSR?
I made the original sig picture.
Earl or you guys should have asked me to be polite.

Again, this is exactly what I mean. But Do you mean for the GSR Site (Intro page) or for the GSR Youtube (Image and video currently hosted) ?
If you mean the website itself, I've always beleived that what it needs is to go straight to the homepage of the website, and not have an intro sheet. To me, it looks slightly tacky. (and trust me, I've done web design an "A Level" so I should know...)
Ooooh, in any case, guess who's album gets released on GSR this weekend? :P And strangely, I've really enjoyed EarlGrey's ep, I did'nt think i would because i've gone off french house a little...but phew, Stylish sampling on his part!

Ah good, sorted then :)
Righty, for the youtube page, I'm thinking of making some 30 sec - 1 min advert type videos encorporating images and a sample of a specific artist's work to advertise both them and the label. So, my ask is, can all artists please supply me with the song they wish to use for the video and a couple of images I can encorporate into the video? That's if you want me to, of course, as it is just an idea.

27th Feb 2010, 20:37
Hey,
I know this is a bit out of the blue. But I was wondering how I go about joining your label?
I'm in a duo called Strobe and we would very much like to become part of Get Some! Records.
Our myspace is www.myspace.com/wearestrobe
we only have one track up so far, but in the next few weeks we should have a couple more tracks finished! I would also like to send you the actual file to our song, as I think myspace takes so much quality away!
Thanks :)

A bunch of stuff has been added to the Get Some! Cool Stuff page. Besides the Get Some! Tradition (which now has its own page), four new things are added to the page including the old The Daft Club Records website. Also, the links page now has links for all of the artist's website and the other GSR sites.

We welcome you a brand new artist to the label called Strobe. They are an Electronic duo from Colchester, UK that just started late last year and they are in the process of recording their debut album and it will personally knock your socks off! Check out a few of their tracks on their MySpace! Also, there has been a small line up change for Construct The Indefinite. 9th Mar 2010, 15:59
Sebon, some information i'd like to ask about.
1. Once it has been completed, can I shedule the "Tangmere" single to be released on GS!R? I'd like a remix from you if thats allright? Although I think you said you started one for 257. If so, complete it and that can go on the Tangmere single too.
2. It isnt an issue for me to release a small exclusive EP on TuneIn records, is it?
electromatic
9th Mar 2010, 22:06
EarlGrey: Cool. Can't wait for it.
Champiness: The Unknown is more Jungle than Drum & Bass, but Test was my first remix in that catagory. Actually, I forgot about The Unknown to be honest. I have to find a place to release it.
Dark DJ: You can release your music where ever you wish. It's not an issue to have something on TuneIn. Doesn't bother me one bit.

But, yes, please do send me images. I'd rather tackle the old releases first and upload them in order. I'll obvious;ly do my own images with my releases, but i'll need some images of the other arttists to use, or it will just be the cover.

Just to clarify, Dark, you want to know what songs each artist wants a GSR video of on Youtube, right?
Dark_DJ
19th Mar 2010, 14:27
@ pahts yeah pretty much. Basically, all I want to do is add 1 or 2 tracks per artist on the label, preferabbly of a song already released on there. It will consist of either album art from the album it originates from, or pictures the actual artist sends to me. I will probably make a watermark at the end of each video with the web address.
Electro, please, allow me some creatitivy here. Just clarify what track(s) of your you want me to use, then send the images. I'll do the rest. I myself am In chatge of the youtube, after all, and would like to "Standardize" all videos.
electromatic
19th Mar 2010, 20:58
Dude. I am. I'm just making the images for one song for each release and that's only 29 images and choosing the songs. You can make the videos look how ever they want, but I would like the track images to be in the videos. I'm in the process of fixing up the news page and putting a new artist and put the updates that I need to put on there. I'll try to show you what the images will look like by next week.
I've been working hard on the website many late nights in the last week. I hope you guys how the website is turning out.
I'm really excited how this label is growing. Any comments?

The New Version Of The News Page Is Complete
The News page is now more organized than ever before. Each article now has a title to summarize the article below it. Also, each of the articles is categorized for each artist right above the title. Each article is extended with more detail with each update. We hope this will make it easier for everyone to find specific updates from anything. Because of this change, there will be more there will be updates frequently. Enjoy keeping up to see what's going on with us.

20th Mar 2010, 15:13
Fair enough, thanks. You don't have to cover every release of yours. I mean, it's basically to promote the artists on the label.
I have an idea about what i'll be doing for the youtube videos. I'd like to clarify one more time that All I need for the videos are:
1. Permission from the original artist to use a sample of their track as backing music.
2. Album art for the album the track appears on, again with permission granted.
3. If the track itself does not appear on a GSR release, send an alternative image.
4. It would be useful to have an image of the artist on the video (this can be an avatar if nessasary, if at all).
5. Any other images you'd like on the video (seriously, surprise me).
That's about it, obviously I need your permission to do this, because if you dont want anything on the youtube, I wont put it on.
I will go about making a template/demo video of myself to demonstrate, if that's ok? And electro, ive read your email and that is not what I had in mind...
p.s sorry for the long post... talk amongst yourselves....

After several failed attempts at trying to compose his own pop music, he began to listen to the French House genre through acts such as Daft Punk and Justice. After listening to Alive 2007, his musical future was set. Since then he has produced several hits including "Nebula" and is currently working towards releasing an album of the same name."

GSR Got An Article In A Newspaper
We were featured on the Palatine High School's newspaper called The Cutless. The author, Jack Riedy, interviewed Zach a few weeks prior to get more information about the label to write this article. The article did get a lot of recognition. Unfortunately, our website never made it into the article for some odd reason. Oh well. At least people know how to fine the site and ask Zach for "directions." Click the link below to view the article.

DJ Nerd42 Is Now Part Of GSR!
We welcome you a brand new artist to the label called DJ Nerd 42. He is a DJ that makes Mixtapes and is currently finishing his most recent Mixtape that will contain Hip-Hop and other styles.
"I don't really remember how I got started being a DJ. I think it was a combination of several factors all converging together. One of them was exposure to reinterpreted pop music through a lifelong unrelenting obsessive Weird Al Yankovic fandom. Another of them was DJ Teh Cheat on HomestarRunner.com. I figured, surely I can do this whole DJing thing if a cartoon character that can't even speak correctly can do it! But I originally wanted to make techno dancey trancey stuff based on synths and strings, kinda like Rob Dougan meets BT. Not mashups or hip hop."

Mixing For "Robot After All Vol. 3" Is Almost Complete!
After a very long wait for the final volume of the Robot After All project to be completed is now coming true! When volume three was announced at August 16th, 2008 on TheDaftClub.com by Electromatic, the anticipated release date was planned to be in December 2008, then summer 2009, then fall 2009, but it wasn't ready to be released. Reasons being for this occurrence is because there were dilemmas for getting all the tracks in on time, the artwork getting completed, the communication between some of the remixers, the mixing process, and the possible Encore disc and getting the tracks for those.
After all of those issues, they all got resolved and everything is coming together really smoothly. It's safe to say that this compilation, plus the Encore Edition, will all be released no later than the summer of 2010! We've been putting it all together and we thank the one and only DJ Muziek for mixing this wonderful album. He's been hard a work for a long time. All the DJs the put their heart and soul in their tracks and everyone at GSR gives him their thanks and gratitude.
Mark it on your calendars for RAA3 to be out in the summer of 2010! It's going to be a big hit! So, stay tuned...

The Site Is Back Up!
As you know, the site was down this past week and there was no warning that this was going to happen. The reason why this happened is because our hosting company moved their office and hardware from Dallas to Chicago. Because of this big move, some sites had to be down while they moved the hardware. Now our site's back on and there shouldn't be any more issues with this site specifically.
Thank you all for be really patient with us and sorry for the inconvenience.

Tracklist for Earl Grey's debut full length album revealed...
Earl Grey, one of the newer artists to the label, had just finished getting some new tracks finished and he's deciding to put out a new album. Originally this was going to be a four-track EP, he and Zach Bridier discussed the plans for the EP, they both decided that a full length album would work out a lot nicer. Here's the tracklist:
01. Killswitch
02. Woman To Fax
03. The Chill Zone
04. Nubabed
05. The Smart Chop
06. Matthew Riley - Flash ("Why So Spastic?" Mix)
07. Sensation
08. Feels Like Heaven
09. Cried Out
10. Fly
11. Life (Leave It Behind)

Whoah, kinda awesome the first time I load up your web site I see you guys did an awesome photoshop job on the Canadian Chocobo album cover. I feel very welcomed now. Totally. LOL :) You guys are awesome because if it wasn't for you guys ... why then I'd have to start my own netlabel or something. But now I don't have to, thanks to you guys. Heh.
For anyone who doesn't know, I finally got my latest mixtape out http://djnerd42.blogspot.com/2010/04/its-pronounced-fourty-two.html
And I've FINALLY gotten my entire back catalog up on Fairtilizer over the weekend. http://fairtilizer.com/users/Nerd42
This is a netlabel, right? So why aren't you guys listed on NetLabels.org (http://netlabels.org/) yet?
OK so .. I guess that's it except there's one more thing: Now that I have gotten two full hip hop albums out, I should be about mostly almost done with hip hop for a while and ready to get on to making some dance music that's more in line with ... what I expect most of you guys are more into. :) I have just about run clean out of decent hip hop acapellas to mix with anyway. (I got tons of them but very few decent ones) I got one more project in the works that's gonna revisit my old stuff with my increased skills, and it will include a remastered, expanded, updated version of Daft Wash that will be even more awesome than the original. I also have lots of plans for totally new stuff that I should be working on over the next year. I have a Daft Punk album somewhere between one third and half done that should come together very quickly in the next few months.

So, which mixtape do you want me to release on GSR? I was hoping to have released It's Pronounced Fourty-Two on our label.yeah you can post It's Pronounced Fourty Two on the label. I emailed it to you guys that day but didn't hear back. (Still haven't heard back. Dunno whats up with that)
You didn't exactly give instructions that Get Some! had to receive tracks first before they were posted anywhere else. If that's like some kind of rule, then OK I could try and do that next time. Though I'd already had 6 out of the 17 tracks posted all over the place before I'd ever heard of you guys. :)
(later edit) The web site was down when I did this so I didn't know anything about you guys's release process. I got to talk to electromatic last night and we're still gonna do a Get Some! edition of It's Pronounced Fourty Two after some artwork and stuff gets done. Next time I do a project it should follow the Get Some! guidelines better.

About RSS: Watch this short and very entertaining informational video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0klgLsSxGsU) to learn all about it. :D
I use Google Reader every day to keep up with what's going on around the web. I usually don't have to go around to different web sites to see if there's anything new. It all comes to me instead! One thing the guy neglected to mention in the video is that pretty much all podcasts use RSS as well. More people are likely to listen to the label's releases if they can just click "subscribe" and be auto-alerted whenever there's a new release.
The only sites I actually go to, to check now besides Google services are homestar runner (cause sometimes they have cartoons out before they post it to their RSS feed) and a handful of forums like this one with threaded structures. RSS is built more for linear structures like news, blogs and podcast feeds.

This rockin' trio plays out of Palatine, Illinois and their influences are Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Creme, Pink Floyd, and many others. Central Axis released their first album "In The City" in October 2009. They're all about just getting gigs and just trying to find to get there music out there look out for Central Axis in 2010!"

"U Just Make Me Smile", one of Electromatic's New Songs.
Sorry about editing the track, man. If you want, I can take down the current video and do it again? Although I have mentioned before that the tracks need to be short? (at least, I think I have?)
Would artists preferred that I use their full tracks for future videos? Or would it be ok to have shortened versions of songs? In either case, tracks should preferabbly be under 4 minutes perhaps?
One more note @ pants: RAA3 has been forever coming, and I know you might be annoyed with people asking, but because I have not been following religiously, is the project nearly finally done? Because i am extremely looking forward to it...

Nothing against Dark DJ's efforts but I think we ought to look into recruiting some Flash animators. You know, like the kind of people who make cartoons on Newgrounds? Some of them might love to make fully animated music videos for a group like ours. (maybe) Just a thought.

Regarding RAA, Disc 2 is 85% mixed. The following weeks are fairly busy, but i expect mixing to be complete within the month.
Regarding tracks, wouldn't it be easier for the artists themselves to send in a "video edit" of the track?
Dark_DJ
10th Apr 2010, 10:08
That could work pants, a short edit or an edit of whatever they want to use on their tracks.
@ Electromatic: I have deleted the video from youtube so that I can do it again. But first, I need to know if you can edit your track down to about 4 minutes at most, less if possible.
Also, can you send me the "GSR" logo, so that I can have a standardised ending for each video. (This will have the GSR logo and the web address on it at the end of each video).
@ Strobe, thanks for the logo and track. What I need to know from you is if you have any other promotional images that I can utilise for the slideshow? If not, it can just be of your logo, as these are just advertisements etc.
@ Nerd42, if somebody could animate for us, that would be brilliant. I will press on with the slideshow effect videos of course, but if we can find an animator to do this, That isnt a problem.

electromatic
11th Apr 2010, 01:53
Dark, we don't have to make video edits of our songs. You can just use 30 seconds to a minute of the song. Like a "preview" of the song. You know?
Also, there might be about 4 or 5 more rocks bands on this label and a friend and I are getting a studio together for the bands.

It really all depends. I'm super busy with a lot computer stuff because I'm transfering all my files from my old, dead computer to a rebuilt laptop. It will be done by the next two weeks. Send it to me and I'll do my best to work around it. If everything works out smoothly, it can be released this month.

Dark_DJ
11th Apr 2010, 07:51
@electromatic, How about this?
If the artist wants a full song used that's fine, but if they specifically want a short edit version that can be done too. All I ask is that the editing (if wanted) is done before the track is sent to me, Because i'll use whatever is sent to me for the video.
@Waybig, a sampling video eh? That's alotta work. :D Will you want that uploaded on the GSR youtube too? Or is it something just for your channel? :)
Nik Strobe
11th Apr 2010, 14:19
@electromatic, just checking if you noticed we (Strobe) have uploaded our new track? Just so it can go in the news section of the website etc :)
Also, I have an idea, but I understand if you don't like it.
I think it'd be a lot better/cooler for the label to have one big video, with a short preview of every artist on the label. So for example.. it would start with a title for say.. Dark DJ, this his logo and a sample of his song. Then fade into the next artist, their logo appears and a sample of their tracks plays.
Obviously I'm still all for these individual videos though :)
Dark_DJ
11th Apr 2010, 17:10
Or both, even? I don't mind pulling that together, in fact it's a better Idea.
But, obviously, I need everyone to send me their logo's and stuff first?
In other news, @ Electromatic, is it possible to release my "Tangmere" single from 2010 ASAP? I understand that you have other stuff on, and i'm also aware that Waybig is releasing something soon, So i dont mind waiting until these are done first. A few weeks's time is fine.

DJ Nerd42's "It's Pronounced Forty Two" Available April 24th!
We are pleased to announce that DJ Nerd42's new mixtape "It's Pronounced Forty Two" will be available on the 24th of April! It will contain mashups such as KJ-52, Rootbeer, Daft Punk, Mars Ill, and many others. This album contains 17 tracks plus a bonus track. The tracklist will be revealed soon. Here's what DJ Nerd42 himself said about this album.
"... I think there's alot of talent in the Christian hip hop scene that ought to get more mainstream exposure. If you want to hear more Christian mashups in the future, bug all Christian hip hop artists (especially Mars ILL) to release their acapellas! Instrumentals are a dime a dozen but Christian rap acapellas are hard to come by!"
It is true that not a lot of Christian Rap artists release their acapellas so that people can remix them. It's unfortunate, but it's true. He's trying to get these artists to release them and show that people want to make remixes through this album.

I like what's going on with the YouTube project a lot. Keep up the good work guys.
Also, I'm not going to put any releases in the Coming Soon section until they're completed and I have them on my computer ready to be released. That makes things easier and a lot less stressful for me.
In that case, consider my single done and done. I'm uploading and sending to the GSR email right now.
By the way, being a single and all, it is a digital release, so there are only a front and back cover. You can add the logo and stuff etc. :) And could you send me a GSR logo aswell for the youtube project?

I'll take a look at my e-mail now. Since this release is a single and you have a front and back cover for it, it's going to have the same style as to your other single Reaction.

You want me to send you the new logo from the website or what exactly do you need me to make?

Yeah thats fine about the single...
Just the main logo of the site, with room underneath so that I can add the web adddress and possibly a year watermark etc.
Also, could you also add this track to the news page, as well as a quick announcement about tangmere?

"Tangmere" Out Now!
Dark DJ's first post-single for his album "2010" is out now and it's a remix EP for his song "Tangmere." The song, and this EP in that matter, is dedicated to trains in it self.
"Chuga-chuga-chuga choo-choo! The Tangmere locomotive is here! The passengers walk in and sit down in there seats. All of a sudden, there's this man that starts blasting this song that gets them all willing to listen in. This song is by Dark DJ who made a song dedicated to the locomotive they all are sitting in. Tangmere is an inspiring song that makes you feel like you are actually on the locomotive with him as you listen in. This single contains three remixes by Earl Grey, Tokyo Bass, and Matthew Riley. Don't forget the b-side track that's also dedicated to locomotives as well."

"It's Pronounced Forty Two" Out Now!
We present to you Get Some! Records' debut mixtape by DJ Nerd42. This is also our debut release that contains a lot of Hip-Hop.
"It's time for some Five-Two Television, Forty-Two Television that is. And this isn't just any album, it's a mixtape, our debut mixtape on Get Some! Records. This Hip-Hop oriented mixtape contains mashups and remixes featuring KJ-52 and Daft Punk, plus many other amazing artists, such as L.A. Symphony, Mars Ill, Rootbeer, TobyMac, and many others. Annie? Edge Of Attack Is Now Part Of GSR!
We welcome you a brand new artist to the label called Edge Of Attack. They are a trio that plays instrumental Rock/Metal music. They are currently writing for their debut album which will be out this summer!
"E.J. and Dequante have been "jamming" together for quite a while. One day the decided to actually start a band. They decided to call themselves Edge Of Attack. Edge Of Attack sounded great. But they were missing something: a bassist. Tony Stolfa then joined the band and since then they have been creating awesome rock/metal music. Edge Of Attack is truly in it for the music."

Icaria Is Now Part Of GSR!
We welcome you a brand new artist to the label called Icaria. They are a five-piece band that plays various styles of Rock music including Punk, Progressive Rock, & Metal. They are currently writing for their debut album which will be out this summer!
"After his split with Patmos, Steve Mayer decided to start a new band to continue to enjoy writing and performing hard rock songs. Under the suggestions of former bandmate Brad Johnson, he recruited lead vocalist/bassist Tony Stolfa, who in turn convinced Central Axis guitarist Ricky Georgen to join in. Under the suggestion of Scott Simon, Steve and Tony added drummer Zach Bridier to complete the lineup.
After a rushed and failed attempt by Steve and Tony to get into the Palatine V-Show, Icaria practiced rigorously on any possible date and has produced material that transcends multiple areas of rock, from heavier metallish songs to more piano-based ballads and everything in between. Be on the lookout for upcoming live performances in April onward."

There isn't one main genre of the label. Yes, I still want to have new electronic artists on there. I would never take that away. It's just right now, there are more rock bands that are interested in signing to GSR more than electronic artists at this time. I haven't gotten any new offers yet in a while.
I want this label to have a variety and the artists are free to produce whatever music they like.
