One thing that has always irritated me
If you watch the end of Interstella 5555 you can see two Daft Punk Plushies on the boys shelf
I have searched the internet to find if there are any copys of them but ive had no luck :(
Any of you lot think the plushies should be made? :)

Okay I guess I'll spill the beans abit here.....
I've actually been working on Plushies for a long time now. I've just taken a very long Hiatus on the project. So right now all I have is a naked headless Thomas. His head is.....in the making....but again, my laziness kicked in so eh..now he's just lying around here. Probably is on the couch somewhere.

I would loose my mind if I saw those plushies in a Crane Game somewhere. I'd probably go broke to get them too.

i was going to say that plushie making is not that uncommon in various fandoms, so i wouldn't be surprised if some Daft fan made one as well.
it would be cool to see yours, Jo, even if it's WIP.

Me too, Medokin. Guy-Man plushie. WANT. Call me a freak but I would sleep with the plushie next to my bed every night. If I went on vacation then I would bring it with me. I'm gonna try and make my own but my friends might get worried with my obsession when I bring it on the freshman class trip...

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the heads? The heads are the ONLY issue I have.

you can always try wrapping the fabric around a styrofoam ball and sewing it that way, then taking the ball out when youre done so you can stuff it..
idk. worked in my head.

Okay I finally got inspiration to work on my plushies again. I finished some HAA pants for Thomas and I'm also going to cut his current head off cause it is gross. I found a new method of making his head so I'm going with it. If all goes well expect me to start a Guy-Manuel plush too. For those who asked for pictures before:

The stuffing is from his ugly head. His new head is still under construction so it's not in the pic. I plan on putting a button on the pants because they're alittle wide around the waist.

Actually that's his front. :P Unless you have X-ray vision, you can't see his butt.

That's a pretty good start. What was this 'new method' you mentioned? Did you try the styrofoam?
Jo_The_Marten
8th Sep 2008, 01:02
Yup. I'm carving it out of styrafoam (This room is SO MESSY after the work I did last night) then I'm gonna put bondo on it to make it more stable, then I'll attach it to the body.
Edit: I just finished his jacket! But it still needs the zipper in the front and buttons. Then once I get that done, I'll put rhinestones on the back for "daft punk".

Once you get it down pat, make more and sell them!

Careful using bondo on styrofoam, it might melt it :/

Really? Have any better suggestions?

It might be fine, but a bit of googling suggested it might not be a good idea- see mistake #1 here. You might be fine, but test it on a spare piece of styrofoam first... in school graphics a teacher recommended the wrong kind of glue once and it melted the students styrofoam model and I just thought "doy i thought you were supposed to be helping".
What are you trying to do with it, just harden the styrofoam so that it doesn't dent?
Jo_The_Marten
8th Sep 2008, 08:59
Yeah pretty much. I'd imagine the doll is gonna see rough times so a Styrofoam head isn't going to be the way to go, so I need a coating to make it more durable.
Also thanks for that tip, glad someone told me before I tried it.

I've always wanted to make some Daft Punk plushies, but I don't know how to sew.
I guess my mom could teach me, and I could look up some stuff online.
Even if they come out really weird, I think it's worth a try.

By the way, I think this should probably be moved to "Fan Made".

I thought so too, even if it was originally asking about buying toys, it's def become a "fan made" topic now that we've established you can't buy them.

Okay I found something even better (not really but I can actually find it at stores for a cheaper price). It's called Mod Podge. :) It can be found around $5 so that helps me out a lot.
