Help with audio interface into ableton?

Im pretty much a total n00b when it comes to this kind of stuff. So yeah
I am using ableton 9
Anyway, i have my audio interface (steinberg UR22) connected to my macbook.
When i record guitar, or microkorg, the audio only goes to the left speaker...
but when i have the "amp" audio effect on, the audio goes to both. I don't like amp because it sounds meh.
i need to get this sorted because i want to start incorporating live instruments into tracks.

According to posts on my twitter and on the official wikipedia article for Romanthony, he has been confirmed dead on 18th May 2013. He collaborated with Daft Punk on the 2001 album discovery and was the vocalist for their mega hit "One More Time"

I couldn't help but notice when listening to LYTD the similarities between these two songs. Same BPM, possibly different key, strikingly similar funky-groovy feel. Actually, I plan to do a mashup of these two songs some time in the future now. What do you guys think?
