27th Oct 2010, 19:00 #1496unless where she lives is like my mom's house: a black hole. we've lost so many things over the 6 years we've been there, gone through almost everything five times, and still have never found 90% of the stuff we've lost. it just disappears. earrings, scarves, jackets, plates, a portable slushie machine... all gone.
anyway, i got invited to a halloween party on sunday, right? and i was really excited because i never get invited to parties, and never do anything on halloween so i got really excited. so im talking to the my friend today, who is really good friends with the guy who's having the party, and my friend pretty much says 'yeah he told me who's coming and its pretty much a dude-only party. he asked if i wanted to invite any girls and i said i didn't care.'
well thanks for not caring about ME, friend of mine... i really want to go to this, and i don't care if im the only girl, but i dont want to be intrusive and make people feel uncomfortable. im not upset right now, but if it turns out that the guy kindly and subtly uninvites me to the party, i'm going to be kinda angry.

27th Oct 2010, 19:22 #1497i have... :[ the issue is that i only noticed it had fallen out of my ear at some point while i was walking on campus. so it could've fallen anywhere between my bedroom, house, yard, car, parking lot, sidewalk, campus. i've retraced my steps on campus and at home, scoured all of those locations and i still can't find it...
it wasn't particularly fancy or expensive, but i really, really liked them and i wore them all the time 'cause they can be worn with casual or nicer-looking outfits. also bout picked out/bought them for me... :[
the stress is more from life in general, but i'm upset about the earring to the point that i took like 15-30 minutes looking for it when i should be studying for the test i have in 1.5 hours or doing my reading assignments.

28th Oct 2010, 05:05 #1498OMG how freaking annoying is it to lose earrings?! I lose them all the time! most times down the drain in the bathroom :/ or in crevices. argh
dude-only parties are fun! I'm sure they'd be welcoming and wouldn't mind too much. I tend to hang with only dudes from time to time and it's not bad at all. You'll be fine! Unless some of the other people invited dislike you or..?

29th Oct 2010, 09:02 #1499Fourth halloween in a row where I'm left out on all the action. Everyone has plans, and none of them involve me. Not to say they totally ignored me, the one party I was invited to I had to turn down cause the person's house its being held at...well, we have a bad history together.
Enough said.
30th Oct 2010, 10:12 #1500Don't feel ridiculous. Losing a favorite earring is enough to make anyone upset. It was your favorite for a reason.
Do you remember any time during the day where you were rushing or bumped into someone or did something that could've made the earring slip out? Sometimes searching specific areas in detail could help.
Hopefully you find them!
Sometimes people slip out words that they didn't know could've offended someone. It's unfortunate that your friend wasn't considerate of how you would feel.
But I was just thinking, what would a Halloween party be without any ladies? I'm sure they would appreciate you coming around, so try focusing on having fun.
That's not really cool huh, being left out....especially since Halloween is an event where everyone wants to have fun with other people. I certainly know how that feels, not being invited to a party while everyone else has fun. Well, I don't really mind being a loner since I'm not a people person....but you get the idea.
Do you have any friends who also aren't going to parties as well? Maybe you can arrange to hang out with them - though it wouldn't be a full blown party, it still would be fun than spending the night alone.
Once again, TDC is here if you need anything. I'm sure there are other members here who aren't taking part in Halloween and would appreciate the company of others.
