Ugh. Robot Rock is probably the least creative sampling I've ever seen. Just one looping riff... whereas truly good sampling, like HBFS or Aerodynamic... I mean, half of HBFS is made up of tiny tiny itty bitty cuts taken from random parts of the song. Same with the first part of Aerodynamic. Not that I don't like Robot Rock.. it's just far from being good sampling, IMO. A real good sample shouldn't sound exactly like the song it came from.

High Fidelity and Face To Face have good use of sampling. Just random vocal parts smooshed together, Ed Banger style. I love tracks like that.

i agree with boba.i hate the fact that it sounds exactly like release the beast,they stole the best part of the song and looped it endlessly.i dont even listen to the HAA version now,just the (admittedly amazing) alive 2007 version.

i think the best sampling is when you either cant tell if they did or didnt,or when they completely change the context and sound (face to face,superheroes,crescendolls)

I always thought HBFS was the best sampling.
Because honestly, Cola Bottle Baby kinda.. it kinda.. (imho) sucks.
So then DP comes along, finds this old, forgotten funk song that no one has ever heard of, takes a sample, and turns it into one of the best / most popular electronic songs EVAR. :3

Face to Face is also very good, I like how it sounds almost like a musical collage with all the bits and pieces of other songs and whatnot and the way it fits together. Very creative.

Superheroes is just great with how they changed Barry Maniow's line of "In the air" into a pumping song. I can imagine all of the layers on the song. They definitely put Barry Manilow as not just one but two of the layers. The one where he says "In the air" and the other being his backup singers saying "ooh" The verse is "Something's in the air oooo" but I have no idea why Something gets included with discussion of it.
