Not Really A Bug, But...
7th Apr 2009, 17:42 #1Has the rule always been that signatures can only be five lines long? It keeps me from fitting perfectly normal-sized quotes into my sig and eats up any room needed for things like images.

7th Apr 2009, 20:32 #3But instead of just 5 lines, you could add a maximum of like 100 charaters or something like that.
7th Apr 2009, 21:06 #4There's a character limit too. This way both angles are covered to prevent spamming and sigs that go on for far too long making threads a nightmare to read.
7th Apr 2009, 23:46 #5I understand - sprawling signatures are annoying. But a number of multi-character or multi-line sigs are that way due to some sort of HTML applied to the text - i.e. quotes or colorful dialogue. My current quote isn't like this thankfully, but with something a bit longer the HTML might ruin it.
7th Apr 2009, 23:54 #6I kinda wish there was some filter that ignored BB codes, though I know we probably can't get something like that. I'm just saying.

8th Apr 2009, 01:54 #7i was looking at the options for this, and it does seem like there might be some way to ignore bbcode markup. (which i agree, whenever i've been on a forum with character-limited signatures, the bbcode is what gets me all the time.)
what i've found to be helpful in keeping under limit, but still letting you have the pictures and links you like, you can try using a url-shortening site/service. there are a lot of sites like this like tinyurl and some others.
