This is to outline what Dubstep is and the major artists
Wikipedia says:
Dubstep is a genre of electronic music that has its roots in London's early 2000s UK garage scene. Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its dark mood, sparse rhythms, and emphasis on bass. Dubstep started to spread beyond small local scenes in late 2005 and early 2006

10th Apr 2009, 17:53 #4Did anyone go to BLOC Weekender a few weeks back? I posted in the thread about Beardyman already, but I went. It's primarily a dubstep and ISM festival. That was really the first time I'd experienced dub (on any level) and I have to say it was a great weekend!
10th Apr 2009, 18:40 #5I heard it was on, but no, I didn't go

I first heard dubstep about two years ago, it primarily started off in south and east london. (I think lol)

burial is the first dubstep artist to get the genre any sort of recognition from anywhere besides the underground.his sophomore album "Untrue" was nominated for the mercury music prize (should have won too,i might add) and hes basically running on universal critical acclaim.
