28th Dec 2009, 03:00 #5Based on what a few people have told me, I've decided to enact a few ideas on selling the set:
1) I've decided to enact a "Daft Club" discount - comment on this forum before 11:59 January 7th and you can purchase either a) the video and the audio of the performance as a bundle for $.99, or b) the audio for free - I'll PM you the link to the discounted files when they become available.
2) I will post the entire video of the live set on youtube because it's not really about the money, it's about jammin' ass music
3) I'll be doing a blogtv.com broadcast before, during, and after the show - join us and chat and chill

Thanks man! Actually Du Hast was Mike's idea (Mike is my DJ partner, and he's a pretty big Rammstein fan) - it was inspired by Justice's live mashup of "We Are Your Friends" and "Just One Fix" (the riffs are very similar). The execution was very simple - it's my custom created Skitzo Dancer acapella ("DISCO! DISCO DISCO!! DISCO DISCO!!, etc.), the main riff from Du Hast, and some basic sidechain compression.
One last thing - check my youtube page (its in my siggy) frequently - I'm gonna be posting a ton of videos showing off my equipment, lights, computer, and other equipment in the days before the show, so if you're interested in checking out some of my equipment, check it out.
28th Dec 2009, 05:21 #7It isnt legal now that i think of it. even if you mash two or more artists work up, the original songs still belong to the record companies and music industries that have signed them up to. guaranteed within a week someone from one of the record companies will send a cease and desist letter and force you to stop. Unless you want to be fined and possibly sued of course. For now Ira, I would keep the price at a free download, Better safe than sorry dude =/
28th Dec 2009, 05:22 #8You do have a point there Boba. He needs permission in order to sell the mix. At least that's my opinion with it.

28th Dec 2009, 15:01 #9I think he can pay for certain parts.
I dont think he can sell the actual audio stream, but can sell the live video performance/ustream (since that isnt something they can keep). Even then i'm not neccessarily sure..

28th Dec 2009, 15:26 #10I hadn't thought of the legal matters, though they had crossed my mind. I am consulting a lawyer about how to either a) obtain temporary licenses to use the songs, or b) find a way not to get sued off my ass. If it comes down to it I may simply make the video/ audio free for download, again it's not like this is my retirement plan :P
