CD's or Downloads?
25th Jan 2010, 17:27 #1Simple question, which do you prefer? Actual CD's or downloading albums from Itunes?
I personally prefer having the real CD =D What do you think?

25th Jan 2010, 18:05 #3Weeell...I love having a CD. It's nice to have something physical. You get liner notes, and it's just generally nice.
But downloading is so much quicker.
And if you buy a CD, you usually have to buy a whole album. I have loads of random songs in my library, just from various artists I like but not every song...because sometimes it's just that song.
And I don't usually play my CDs...Although I have a walkman, because I'm cool.
Anyway...It's pretty 50/50...
25th Jan 2010, 18:17 #4I think legal downloading is useless. Just a piece of data, not something to hold in your hands, not very valuable for me. Downloading is easy. But illegal downloading is very risky in the USA so I understand why iTunes is so populair (but protected music files are damn annoying). Glad I don't live in the USA.
I like CDs and vinyls, and buying one feels good. But it costs money and tbh the internet is a gold mine.
Downloading is much easier but buying music is really important. CDs!

I believe that owning a CD or a vinyl shows that you really care about an artist and that you genuinly like him/her/them. Buying an MP3 is like saying:"Oh, I like this song, though I have no idea who or what the band/artist is." Sort of like how Justice got huge with 'We Are Your Friends' and "D.A.N.C.E." - Many were expecting this sort of poppy, innocent sound, but when they bought their album, what they got was some crunchy electro-beats and whatnot.
Also I don't like MP3s because my computer has broken down a gazillion times, and each time I've lost all my MP3 files, so CD's and vinyls works as a kind of back-up.

CD's suck. :< Downloading is good when the artist can't release it as anything else.ಠ_ಠ
we did not choose to become robots. there was an accident in our studio. we were working on our sampler, and at exactly 9:09 a.m. on september 9, 1999, it exploded. when we regained consciousness, we discovered that we had become robots.
25th Jan 2010, 21:01 #9I do like to buy CDs, but there are a lot of artists whose songs aren't available to purchase here.
25th Jan 2010, 21:05 #10The only music I've ever downloaded was Deadmau5... Simply because it wasn't on disc
