Upgrade to the Daft Club - Our Plans, Your Suggestions

Remove this ad: become a supporter
    Hi everyone,

First off I'd like to apologise for not being around much in the last year or so, and thank the rest of the Daft Club Admin Team for doing such a great job looking after the site during that time.

Looking forward though, the year ahead looks set to be a busy one for Daft Punk fans - which is why I am currently busy working on some upgrades and updates to the site.

    Planned Changes

Veteran members here will remember the first version of the Club, which featured much more than simply a forum. Well all those extras are coming back! For those of you who weren't around then and may not be familiar with the original set up that included things like:

    • A news section
    • Tour info (current and past)
    • Full Discog/Filmography
    • Links to other Daft Punk corners of the web

In addition I am also looking into features such as picture galleries, video galleries and a store - but can't guarantee how soon these will be ready.

Another big change will be the appearence. I am aware that the current scheme isn't the easiest on the eyes and can be difficult to read for some users, so there will be a new lighter easier to see look coming.

...and yes, the chat will be staying

    Your Thoughts

I am very keen to get any feedback from you guys as to what you'd like to see added/changed. I want to get this change right, and as you are the people that use the site every day it makes sense to ask you what you'd like to get out of the Club!

Obviously I cannot guarantee that your request will be met, but as long as it's pheasible I'll do my best to take any comments in to account.

So please leave a reply to this thread with your thoughts, suggestions and comments.

    When will the switch happen?

I can't say for sure yet, I still need quite a bit of time to work on it all. However you will all be given plenty of notice prior to the switch.

Wow, pretty quick after the last change I thought, but it's ok with me if we get all those cool features!

I think the layout shouldn't change too much, but the colour scheme could, if it is a little hard to read...

But at any rate you've done very well and any change is good!

So all the pre-update goodies are coming back at some point? Yes!
My main problem with the forum layout is the icons for unread topics and posts - remember how they used to be those little circle icons that lit up when you hadn't read something? Now they're drab-colored cubes that, as well as not having much aesthetic appeal, are kind of buggy: after reading all the new posts in a section, you have to go into that section and see all the threads you've read for it to register as "no new posts" on the section screen.

thats what i always hated too. and if you went into one of the subforums, and accidentally clicked back to the homepage, you'd have to go back into the subforum, back into the forum topic, and then back to the main forum homepage for it to register that there are no new posts. VERY annoying.

Please change the colour scheme. It's a bit hard to read.
I hope you're bringing back the old user profiles! That was one thing I missed about the old one.

well I can tell you due to this being a different kind of forum, the user profiles can't be changed to look like the previous ones.

I like black and red, but have always had a slight trouble reading some stuff, a brighter theme is something I can look forward to.

Let me know if theres anything I can do to help. I would donate, but I don't have a credit card to do so..

I like the layout and I don't have any troubles with reading, but a new layout would be nice. Maybe you could make a few new layouts but keep the old one too, so people could change them?

    Also, I donated 1£.
