Where in the song "Dare" by Gorillaz is Revolution 909 sampled? Does anybody know?

I don't think the Gorillaz sampled it from Daft Punk, it's just a common sample of a crowd. You can hear it in the beginning of Revolution 909 and the last 20 seconds of "Dare".

Interesting. I thought somebody said the lyric booklet cited Daft Punk's "Revolution 909" as a direct sample, instead of a generic crowd sound. When I get home tomorrow I'll check the booklet for myself.

    Thanks!

Well, if it is in fact a common sample, where else can it be found? I've only heard it in 909 and dare.

These kinds of sounds are used a lot. I think there was a thread here that pointed out that the beginning of "Da Funk" has the same city sounds as an episode of "Batman: The Animated Series".

Also, thanks for teaching me what the lyrics of "Daftendirekt" are (in your signature)!

Tbh I don't know where exactly, but I know I've heard it before somewhere.

i'm looking it up right now and I can't find anything, so I'm guessing that they did sample from Daft Punk

"Demon Days" booklet doesn't mention the sample but I'm pretty sure that's Revo 909, since Damon Albarn is a Daft Punk fan.

I'm not sure. I did a search but there weren't any other threads about this.

    I found this: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/3804/Gorillaz%20feat.%20Shaun%20Ryder-Dare_Daft%20Punk-Revolution%20909/

It also seems to say that they just sampled the crowd sounds. So I'm pretty much convinced now that they sampled the sounds of people talking, and they sampled Daft Punk specifically because they have appreciation for them. Case closed, I suppose!

EDIT: By the way, notice that they're both on Virgin Records.
