Gorillaz sampled Revolution 909 for "Dare"?
18th Apr 2010, 07:02 #1Where in the song "Dare" by Gorillaz is Revolution 909 sampled? Does anybody know?
18th Apr 2010, 07:16 #2I don't think the Gorillaz sampled it from Daft Punk, it's just a common sample of a crowd. You can hear it in the beginning of Revolution 909 and the last 20 seconds of "Dare".

Thanks!

Also, thanks for teaching me what the lyrics of "Daftendirekt" are (in your signature)!
18th Apr 2010, 12:07 #7"Demon Days" booklet doesn't mention the sample but I'm pretty sure that's Revo 909, since Damon Albarn is a Daft Punk fan.

18th Apr 2010, 14:04 #10I found this: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/3804/Gorillaz%20feat.%20Shaun%20Ryder-Dare_Daft%20Punk-Revolution%20909/
It also seems to say that they just sampled the crowd sounds. So I'm pretty much convinced now that they sampled the sounds of people talking, and they sampled Daft Punk specifically because they have appreciation for them. Case closed, I suppose!
EDIT: By the way, notice that they're both on Virgin Records.
