    Thomas Bangalter Helmet Question

    Hi guys,

Searched high & low through various threads (including the 371 page one!) but couldnt find an answer.

I am about to build a Thomas Bangalter helmet, using this technique ("Luchofunk") as a guide: http://www.flickr.com/photos/luchofu...th/2608883008/

What is the best type of batting helmet to buy for the Thomas Bangalter helmet? I'm not from the U.S and wouldn't know a huge amount about this.

Some builds I've found have used dremels to cut along seams, cutting the ears off, some haven't.

I will more than likely have to buy one off the internet, presumably ebay, and was wondering which of the following styles would be best. The first seems to be a more retro helmet and hopefully this would be suitable?
Avoiding cutting a hard plastic helmet would be a plus!

    or

Any help with this, or good places to buy a suitable batting helmet would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

You're going to want the one that covers your ears. The Baseball cap style one does not look like it would cover enough of the back of your head. Additionally, the sides that cover your ears serve as good mounting points for the ear cones and the bottom jaw areas.

    My 2 cents.

    Hey, thanks for the advice.

So do you reckon the ear-piece one doesn't need to be cut at all?

Came across one or two people cutting the ears off like so:

Would that not, in essence be exactly what the retro helmet is, without the cutting?

Or maybe the cutting is only to get a straight edge along the back, instead of the default curve?

    thanks again

Got any pics of the build?

did you cut the helmet to get a straight back to it instead of the curve?
