i made a Thomas helmet for Halloween, which went-over very well. but i have a few questions that i would like to have answered....

1.) i've been seeing some people making Thomas's helmet with the lights in the ears...i can't remember what model it is(Discovery, i believe). my question....how did they get installed?

2.) what would be the best interface to use when i program my LED board?

3.) if i have no prior programming knowledge, what would be the best way to go about it??

Keep it over in the tips and tricks thread. Don't multipost the same questions and information in multiple threads.

Answers to your 3 questions have been posted in my response on the tips and tricks thread.

    Re: Making/Re-vamping my helmets

since i've been getting chewed-out, i found an old thread i made. how about i just post it over here and see if any answers come my way.

i just got my Arduino Duemilanove starter kit and it had NO instructions what-so-ever. i am, of course, building my Guy-Man helmet and i wanted to know how to assemble and code my components. i was getting a bunch of words i don't know and a bunch of "i didn't use an arduino". i don't know what to do and i don't really have friends who do things like this, so i'm on my own and i would like to get the pointers from someone who knows what they are doing and makes it look nice! if you have the time, could you give me some idea of what i need to do and/or @ least point me in the right direction?? i got the light to blink, so i have accomplished step one of beginnings with your arduino.
i want it to do things like this:

Pretty spiffy. You've made quick work of learning Arduino then I take it.

    Re: Making/Re-vamping my helmets

i'm getting there!! slowly-but-surely, i'm getting there!! the only thing i really need is a good painting method to get as close to chrome as possible(seeing as i haven't found any chroming places near-by and it's pretty expensive, considering i still have Guy-Man to finish)

I can totally relate. Proper chroming doesn't seem to be an option for me either so it's all about getting that silver paint to stay as unclouded as possible.

    Re: Making/Re-vamping my helmets

i got a quick question.....when i look @ people's Guy helmet, they never really show HOW the lights are mounted inside. i would like to know a few good, not-so-intrusive methods to mounting the lights.

Volpin has an awesome method for how he mounted his lights.

I just basically did that, except with mounting board and glue
