Tron Legacy Soundtrack May Get Nominated

Well, I was unsure if this should be tacked on to the existing OST review thread, but it's been released that a few contenders for the Acadamy's BEST ORIGINAL SCORE have been deemed unoriginal to be nominated: Black Swan, True Grit, and The Fighter. Which, now has the buzz going on that the Tron Legacy soundtrack may be nominated:

The race for best score still has several front-runners, including Alexandre Desplat for “The King’s Speech,” Hans Zimmer for “Inception” and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for “The Social Network.” A dark horse may be Daft Punk for “Tron: Legacy,” which the Bagger hopes gets nominated because, well, people get all double-rainbow about seeing Daft Punk. Also because it would be a whole other level of awesome — hardcore awesome — to see Mr. Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails, go up against two helmet-wearing French robots.

I definitely think they will get a nomination. After all, the soundtrack is great. They're #10 on Billboard US, and #1 on iTunes Canada, so I don't see why they won't get nominated. That would be very cool.

Like Spade said, #1 in Canada, which makes me proud of all the Canadian's who bought lol. Hope and think they will be nominated.

They'd been nominated for stuff before, but to add nomination for a soundtrack would just be...let me think of a strong word...

The soundtrack is doing well as it is, so I don't see why not! They had better be nominated or ELSE...

It's a solid original soundtrack, for sure. Also, they worked on it for two years! That's something for the Academy to consider. While I don't think it'll win, I think it should be nominated.

Like others have mentioned, it'll be awesome to hear/say "Grammy winning, Oscar nominated Daft Punk"

i honestly don't see why not. To be honest, i don't think there are any other scores this year that can compete with the level of detail put into the Tron OST

anyway, im not sure if this is possible, because the cutoff date for nominations is somewhere in november, i think. because this soundtrack was released in december, i'm not sure if its even eligible to be nominated for this year's awards. definitely next year's though.

I hate award shows, however I will watch it if Daft Punk is attending.
