This was discussed before. The characters were based on previous projects from that asian guy that made the movie.

Yeah but "asian guy" spent a lot of time on a film that is wonderful.

I think he deserves his name being mentioned. It's exactly the same as calling Daft Punk "those french guys".

indeed rosen, "asian guy" is a pioneer in both Japanese anime and in animation in general. just because you're lazy doesn't mean it's proper for you just to "cbf" to remember his name, twid.

we're on the internet aren't we? it's not like this information's hard to find.

I just didn't know how to spell it and yes, I could have looked on wikipedia or other sites but again, I didn't remeber his name and also didn't have the time to do so.

ANYWAY!!!!!! Lets all agree that Leiji Matsumoto Created both Space Battleship Yamato (which became Starblazers in the US) and Interstellar 5555 so it is alright that he could take inspiration from his previous works. They probably seem more similar than they actually are because of the same art style.

ROFL that's like saying all classic Disney films look the same. Go watch Black Butler and Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Christo and you'll see what I mean.

Aside from that, Leji Matsumoto is awesome. Interstella and Star Blazers just seem the same because they both had the same person working on it. Artist's works are always somewhat simliar to each other.
