Re: A new discovery about the Discovery Helmets
2nd Jul 2011, 01:40 #31First and foremast, I strongly believe the helmet worn by Thomas in the Fort La Merde music video is the Transition/Hybrid style bucket. The lack of lights in the ears and corners of the visor proves this, in my eyes.

That, and the fact the the display is crooked in the picture above just like the one bellow.
And that being said, I believe the scrolling text is computer generated. Thomas' display in the transition helmet is only 3 LEDs tall, and the CG font has more "dots" than there are LEDs. If you look close, you can even see that the f, t, l, d, and ! are taller than the display.

Its strange to think that Thomas wouldn't wear the Discovery helmets since they wanted scrolling text for the video. But there must be a good reason why he didn't that we can only guess about.
And here is the music video, region free, for good measure.

Re: A new discovery about the Discovery Helmets
5th Dec 2011, 04:39 #38Also, Thomas once stated on their Alive 2006/2007 that doing a tour in those helmets (plus all-leathers) is like doing F1 standing up (Which is really hot). If Daft Punk had tried doing that in the Discovery LED-filled monsters, they would've collapsed, and might've been hurt badly if they fell to the FLOOR.
So that is my random hypothesis on why the Discovery tour is as existent as a free Daft Punk helmet.
