Sony Warehouse Burnt Down (Soma Included)
10th Aug 2011, 05:33 #1Youve all heard of the riots in london at the moment, and i heard this morning that the sony CD warehouse has been burnt down :O this includes music from tons of indie record labels. Soma also had their cd's there, and 'Drive' was kept there, now its just ashes
they have back ups obviously but still just a massive worry... what if the riots had happened before 'Drive' was discovered? lost forever

Re: Sony Warehouse Burnt Down (Soma Included)
10th Aug 2011, 06:16 #2That means that the original recording of "Drive" is now gone. That thing would have been one of the most valuable things in DP memorabilia. Didn't they say that it also had original recordings of Thomas' family? I think that also would have had some value for him. I hope they kept it somewhere safe though. It's a shame about all the rest of the music that was destroyed. Damn, humans are just retarded everywhere. I thought that amount of stupidity was just limited to us (Americans).

Re: Sony Warehouse Burnt Down (Soma Included)
10th Aug 2011, 12:44 #5Uhhh... if I had found a rare recording of an old song by a famous artist like Daft Punk, I would make multiple copies in case of an emergency and protect the recording like it was the last pound of gold on the planet. I highly doubt that the original recording was in the warehouse.
And if you want to talk about the riot itself, go to another thread. This thread is specificaly for the burnt down Warehouse, not a flame war towards the riots.

10th Aug 2011, 12:51 #6This is tragic, some amazing labels are in the list of those affected. Atlantic Jaxx, Sunday Best, Warp, Young Turks... It's gutting.
If you wanna help, google your favourite label, go to their webstore and buy an album!
Re: Sony Warehouse Burnt Down (Soma Included)
10th Aug 2011, 17:29 #7thanks for the concern guys. this has been a really bad week for us: we lost 90% of all of our stock, back catalogue old and new, as did many other labels
the Soma box set CD's that we had pressed (for sale to the public) included the track "drive unreleased 1994", these CD's were burnt in the fire, so we are repressing some new CD's to be created in time for the release date (we hope).
Luckily we have the master copies of the track (and cd) stored safely in Glasgow, so pressing new CDs is possible
