Ok ,first apologies for not double but triple posting. Now the mold is off but the separating walls for the mother mold came away from the plasti paste shell so i'm epoxying them back on at the moment in an effort to save it. Also there seems to be some thin parts to the silicone mold which isn't good. Only thing to do is do a cast and see what happens. Fingers crossed

The good news is that the silicone mold has picked up all the detail and as far as i can see theres no bubbles or holes, so it's nice n smooth inside. I am reasonably confident that the shell is fixable as long as the epoxy does its job and refixes it to the walls. If i can line the rubber up nice in the shell it "should" be ok but at this moment i haven't really got a clue if i'll get a nice cast or not. We'll see tomorrow. Fingers crossed......................The actual sculpt is still perfect so i will be doing this again if it doesn't work out this time. I'll get a usable mold out if this sculpt if it kills me

ok well, the mold is a bust. i managed to fix the shell ok but the rubber was just too thin in parts and as a result it won't hold it's shape well enough and the resulting sagging just causes little dents all over. I did a thin cast just to have a look at the shape (and so as to not waste any onyx on something that might not be right)and it's not anywhere near good enough, so more rubber next week and i'll start again....

I'm trying not to cry but it's been at least interesting to see what happens when the rubber is too thin. Live and learn i guess..................on a more positive note, i'm delighted with the size, this is my friend with only a handtowel for padding, he's 5'7''
