Picture discs
30th Dec 2011, 05:29 #1i keep seeing more and more picture disc vinyls showing up on ebay, such as:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DAFT-PUNK-VS...d#ht_500wt_732
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KANYE-WEST-S...7#ht_591wt_732
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Daft-Punk-Tr...e#ht_769wt_966
i have my very doubts that these re legit releases, especially that last one. But i might be wrong. And so far i was not able to find any list with the official Daft Punk releases, singles, albums, special/limited editions dvd's etc. (maybe something the we can make ourselves?) So opinions about these picture disc vinyls please, else ill be spending money on, well, basically smack

Re: Picture discs
30th Dec 2011, 06:12 #2Well considering that the one for Tron Legacy features artwork from DJ Hero, I'm pretty sure that one is fake.
Not sure about the other two. Probably fake though. Definitely don't bother with the Tron one, but wait for some other input on the other two.

Re: Picture discs
30th Dec 2011, 07:35 #3i think the first two are legit. or at least i think i've seen some vinyls with those pictures that are legit. no telling if these exact vinyls are the legit vinyls or just re-using the image.
the one of them fighting in the city or whatever, is supposed to be the slum village remix of aerodynamic.
the Stronger one is the same as the official artwork for Stronger, so assuming that Stronger was released on vinyl, there's a strong possibility that listing is legit.
the third one is most definitely fake. DJ Hero artwork doesn't match Tron, plus it makes claims of some Moby remix, which i'm positive is bullocks.
edit: oh and as for an official list, i'd imagine it'd be quite hard to do, since there are so many different versions released of various singles across the world and within the same countries. anyway, discogs is pretty good for that, though it does sometimes list whitelabels, so even then it would be difficult to know what is 100% legit and what is borderline, though i do think they usually don't list outright fakes. (i'm not a heavy user of discogs, though, just for the occasional reference, so i could be wrong.)Last edited by piroteki; 30th Dec 2011 at 07:38.

Re: Picture discs
30th Dec 2011, 12:28 #4I definitely knew that the third one was a fake, i mean come on, dj hero like picture for a TRON disc? yeah right..
but somehow i can't imagine that a label would release a picture disc, at leas not on vinyl. Maybe that is because that whole concept is a thing I've never seen.
I would disagree, i think that if there would be one person who would make the list, and every member here would give in his/her own collection in terms of collectibles, then i think a list can be made, i mean, most of us here have quite a collection of Daft Punk music, the standard albums/singles, specials, limiteds, doubles features, remixes. Name it. Maybe something to consider. Or it would be just a list of what The Daft Club's members own.edit: oh and as for an official list, i'd imagine it'd be quite hard to do, since there are so many different versions released of various singles across the world and within the same countries

Re: Picture discs
30th Dec 2011, 13:58 #5I've been asking for a good list for a while lol. Anyway, the first one is legit. I'm not sure about the second one but it looks pretty legit. And yes the third one is a fake. I actually wanted to buy some picture disc CD singles. I've seen a burnin' cd picture disc I might buy that looks pretty cool
