Re: Using a DP track name as my own artist name
12th Apr 2012, 16:38 #33Honestly (expecting hate for this) when I saw the name "Daft Punk" on an advert for wireless 07 (this was back before I was *ahem* intelligent) I thought it was a stupid name and kept laughing,
Didn't check out their music until a few years later, and then saw video of Alive 2007 and was kicking myself.
"In the early '90s, Daft Punk performed a self-styled synthesis of acid house, funk and big beat electronica at illegal warehouse parties in France that "you had to crawl under barbed wire and run from police" to attend, as Bangalter recalled.

Re: Using a DP track name as my own artist name
20th Apr 2012, 22:16 #35not saying the previous names mentioned are bad, but i know names with 'direkt', 'da [insert other name here]', or anything with a 5 in the middle of it, etc., are really going to get crapped on on youtube by other people by saying it's just a total rip off of another band and just using it to get peoples attention. but hey, more power to you.
for me, 2 years ago i really loved their song 'emotion'. i figured using that name would get people to talk crap and say i'm ripping off daft punk. so i decided to just use 'EMTN' or 'emtn'. doesn't really give off the look or sound of emotion but i know what it stands for and maybe i can also give it an acronym.
come to think of it, now i feel like people could say i ripped of kid cudi's idea when he change his group's name from 'Wizard' to 'WZRD'. but hey, i though of this 2 years ago. if anything cudi is ripping me off. ha.
