One of the main reasons I love DP so much is that they are constantly reinventing themselves so make sure that their new music stays fresh and vibrant. I mean, for example, look at Madonna. She's been in the music industry for well over 30 years, but she is still popular and well known because of how versatile she was in terms of moving with the times. (FYI, I hate the self-righteous b*tch, but no one can deny how big of a star she is.) So, I really, really love how much DP are committed to their art that they at least make an effort to mix it up a little <3

That's why when DP created the OST for Tron, I became so pissed off with half of their fandom when everyone started squealing "OMGG DRAFT PUNK HAVE LOST THERE SOUNDD WAT DA HELLZ I WONT ANOTHER DISCOVERIE!!1!~!!" I mean, WTF guys? Firstly, IT'S A SOUNDTRACK NOT A RAVE ALBUM, and secondly if they didn't try anything new then they would still be stuck in the underground rave age of the 90s -________-

One thing you have to consider is this - when you're a recording artist whose had a few hits with a certain formula, it is VERY tempting to keep using this formula since it, for a while, basically guarantees hits. Daft Punk could have released two more Discovery albums or two more Homework albums and almost all of us would have been happy (at least at first) and they would have been guaranteed to be huge.

How 'bout them Gorillaz? Although I think Plastic Beach was kind of a let down for me, their change in style is always good. When an artist changes their style, they often do it to keep "fresh".

One thing I've noticed about the really good artists is that they all have great songs in a certain key. Gorillaz' key is Eb (Clint Eastwood, FGI); Green Day's is F (Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns), and so on.

haha, this. so much. can't believe how long it took for some people to understand it was a score to a movie and not a studio dance album.

REALLY? I absolutely loved plastic beach!

Anyways, yes, I love it when artists change, not because I don't like what they do, but because they are just that, artists. Imagine if all Davinci ever painted was sitting melancholy women with a distinct lack of eyebrows. It would be boring, everyone would regard him as a terrible artist. Same with music.

I didn't mind the new Justice album, While completely different from Cross, I think that's what they were going for and I like how they tried something new and different. I really loved songs like Newlands, Helix and Canon.
