Yeah, if Daft Punk turned down huge amounts of cash to play at Coachella... it wouldn't make sense for them to play here instead. Just my opinion...

Do we actually know they turned down huge amounts of cash to play at Coachella? From what I saw people just sort of assumed that there was a chance they might play and the rumors spread from there.
Regardless, this Chicago thing seems highly dubious. In short:

Well I read the news about them turning down Coachella here on The Daft Club front page. Said something about a source from Billboard said Daft Punk was given a huge offer to perform but declined once again...

But I guess that's not really a definitive answer unless we know who that source came from and how reliable they are.

Billboard said their sources told them..I doubt they're lieing. It was randomly placed in the article about Coachella, so I doubt they would just randomly chuck them in there if they had no real info.

That being said, I could see this being a one-off DJ set...I mean they do like Chicago (at least it seems that way), and Thomas has DJed in Chicago more than once. Actually I think Thomas and Guy DJed together as Daft Punk in Chicago once or twice too? One could reason that DP decided to play at a smaller, DJ set-focused festival like this than Coachella since they don't have any new music ready to play yet and just want to DJ - though I'm not sure how likely that is. It's also worth noting that there's a pretty big chance that they wouldn't have advertised this that far in advance, especially if it's a one-off thing, since (assuming the festival is real, which seems to be up in the air) the festival's website isn't even up all the way yet and the festival's official Twitter account's first tweet is only a few days ago.

All of THAT being said, a huge part of me still highly doubts it's real.

True, they haven't done a DJ set as Daft Punk since 2003 (by what I see) - but that doesn't mean they won't ever again. I mean, they're obviously great friends and they obviously both like to DJ, so why not DJ together again? I mean Daft Punk don't really follow rules, so I certainly don't think them doing a one-off DJ set is out of the question...and personally, I'd love to hear it (would they play older French House? would they still play a lot of old funk and disco? would they play a lot of the newer electro stuff?).

That being said, I still doubt that they're really playing at Spring Awakening. And THAT being said, it does seem like there's more legitimate-looking info on this one (the actual website for the actual festival saying it, assuming the blog post is correct)...it's also pretty interesting that there was talk of Daft Punk headlining in a stadium in 2012, and this festival is being held in Soldier Field...idk, I'm not afraid of being wrong so there's really no harm in speculation

All in all though, the "example text" thing definitely makes me lean towards this being fake/wrong.

I am 15, I know that most concerts are 16+. Are daft punk concerts like this? Should I be worried that when they tour I wont be able to go?
