How reliable are Wesc Headphones?
11th May 2012, 17:06 #1I was gonna put this in 'Daft Stuff' but its not directly Daft, so GM section should do.
I just want to know how reliable wesc headphones are as I am looking at buying a used pair. I am only worrying as my sony headphones (which have been great) recently developed a fault (thinking its a loose connection) in the lead/maybe jack, making the the right ear go on and off.
What are they like? Reliable? bla bla

Re: How reliable are Wesc Headphones?
11th May 2012, 22:31 #5I've been mixing for 18 years and Sony MDR-V700DJ are the best headphones I've ever had, I've had the same set for 10 years and they still look new.
WESC, Skull Candy and blah blah are not headphones, they are fashion accessories.

11th May 2012, 22:33 #6Wesc have always seemed to focus on design and fashion than sound in my opinion. Don't see why people don't go for Sennheisers, as a general rule they are great value for money and also generally pretty cheap.

11th May 2012, 22:52 #7I've had pairs on the past. The sound quality was great, but the actual construction was so so. Mine fell apart in about 3 months.....but I loved them for the time I had them.

11th May 2012, 23:18 #8Thanks everyone. Was thinking of buying the ed banger headphones that are on eBay now. However the used thing really is a worry. Will probably just buy some normal wescs

very sad that my sonys have broken though :/ don't think I've had them THAT long
Re: How reliable are Wesc Headphones?
12th May 2012, 04:11 #9I agree with most of this, I feel that if WESC are anything like Skull Candy then they value the looks more than the quality of sound. As a previous owner of Skull Candy, Sony, Ultimate Ears, Pioneers, and Seinnheisers, I definitely have some experience with a wide range of companies. While I can't make any claims about wesc, I can tell you I have never really heard of them, even in my research for hi-fi/audiophile headphones/earbuds. So that kinda says something on its own.
For DJ headphones, I recommend Pioneer or Sony.
For best quality earbuds, I recommend Ultimate Ears (they used to be a solo company before logitech bought them)
For regular listening/studio work, I recommend AKG. They're an Austrian company that has been on the high end of headphones for a long time.

Re: How reliable are Wesc Headphones?
12th May 2012, 11:38 #10Btw, for those of you debating headphones, Im mostly gonna use them for listening at college and out and about, therefore i dont want anything too chunky or ugly... (however I will use them occasionally for vdj n stuff)
Thats why I was pulled in by wesc, as they look good but also have good reviews on the sound quality. My sonys that I have now are good sound quality but are abit too chunky.
