I have wondered that myself. I think if I see the video first, the colors relate to that. If I hear the song first, it has an entirely different color. When I bought Discovery, everything after the first 4 tracks had colors too. )ex. Crescendolls is orange and yellow, Superheroes is red and black). I had a theory that those had to do with the liner note colors, but when I looked at them this weekend, and none matched but the font for Face to Face.

That Da Funk synth line produces a white & yellow scribble for me, kinda like a visual of a sound wave. Voices really affect a song color! If there's a vocoder (One More Time, HBFS) the voice-image is blocky and geometric. Justice's music with lyrics is interesting: the voices are clear and sharp while the music itself is rather staticky (Newjack especially: the vocals are yellow and clear to see, while the music itself is kinda green & blue with a dash of yellow, then throw on a staticky-looking image filter. I want to make a picture of these one day.)

Lol. *pats your head* Don't worry too much. I've had it on my mind for the past few months myself after I found out my friend saw colors, too. I think it's best to just sit back and enjoy it instead of pondering it too much. It makes music more fun, and I feel that it may be part of why I'm drawn to music so much. Heck, I like it so much I'm making a career out of it.

I'm pretty sure we are all getting confuses CherieD'Amoure i think (correct me if im wrong) physically sees flashes of colors while some of us we remember the colors because our brains say "i remember hearing this here and i was seeing the color ______ at the time"

I bet yall are just associating the colour of the song's cover art or something with the actual song. That's normal. Eg: Homework is red, discovery is blue/silver, haa is black, tron is blue.

Yeah I thought that at first..But I always associate Crescendolls with shiny pink balls (yeah not like that) and stuff. Hmm. But as Cherrie says, it's best to just sit back and enjoy it instead of pondering it too much.

@ jwd4444: Yep! It's "there" if I zone out to music or close my eyes.
@Fundave: Also true! I think that is a way the brain can organize how one remembers a tune or such. It's a good memory trick

I'm sorry if I've caused confusion... It is a rather hard thing to explain, and I've not really pondered it too in depth before. ^^;

The mind is a strange thing. It's neat to hear how others associate things with the songs! I'm glad I finally have some other folks to talk DP and such with. Y'all are great!

I think there is a distinct difference to remembering a colour when you hear a song, and actually seeing colours and shapes in your mind that correspond to sounds in the song itself.

The latter is what I THINK CherieD'Amoure is describing. Been thinking about this a lot lately.

that sounds like one of the coolest things ever! it's like you can produce music into a whole new level. you are literally painting a picture with sound! i only get that effect when taking in a lot of acid...

damn reading all this makes me want to take acid and listen to all of daft punk's albums and more! grapheme-color synesthesia seems like something i would love to have (as weird as that may sound) it would help in putting more personal touch to my production. it would also seem to add more beauty into music allowing to engorge more senses making you more drawn in.
