me and my friend are working on making a Guy helmet master, and have just finished the foam stage and were wondering what the best kind of clay to use would be. And if a combination of clay and bondo, or just one individually is better?

    Re: build project

I would avoid using clay. I know that is the way Volpin did his originally, but even he has stated that that was using clay to build the form was a bad idea. I suggest you seal the foam with something ( pva works, mod podge works, some kinds of resin work) then start slinging Bondo on it and sanding until you get the correct form.

We are having serious trouble getting the pics up, the normal links don't work. So here is the link to the flickr page with the build photos on it, along with some other kool stuff:http://www.flickr.com/photos/sonniku727/

Ummm... I don't want to be a big critic here, but that helmet is gigantic!

But other than that, we like seeing people that build helmets from scratch. Can't wait to see more!

    Re: build project

we had suspicions about that, would you happen to have any exact dimensions so we can trim some of the fat off of it?
