We're hiring: News Mod Position Open
12th Jun 2012, 20:05 #1So it's quite clear that the news section of TDC is lacking on updates... I'm sorry to say it's my fault, I just haven't had the time recently to stay on top of it.
So I'm looking to see if anyone would be willing to help contribute articles? You don't need many skills other than:
- keeping on top of what's going on in the Daft World
- having decent writing skills
- having experience in wordpress (not essential but desirable)
If anyone is interested please let me know by replying to this thread or via a PM.
CLARIFICATION:
Just to clarify a few points...
1. You will not be required to perform typical 'mod' duties as a news moderator
2. Your articles will go through a review stage before going live, so you don't have to worry (or plan on) messing up the homepage!
APPLICATIONS
Are now open. To apply for a position please email me (admin [at] thedaftclub.com) with a sample news story. The story I'd like you to cover is the new score by Thomas on the short film that's buzzing around...
Please remember to keep it fairly short and concise, include a relevant picture and link to sources. Also, include your user name in the email so I know who is who!
I will start appointing in a day or two so be quick!
Cheers!Last edited by Spud in Disguise; 15th Jun 2012 at 08:37.

Re: We're hiring: News Mod Position Open
12th Jun 2012, 22:06 #2I don't have any experience in wordpress but I'm writing a book at the moment so I would be happy to say I have decent writing skills. I'm always keeping an eye open for any Daft Punk related news and I think I'm reasonably up to date.
What I will say though is I'd prefer not to be the only one contributing articles. If other people are interested I wouldn't mind being part of a news mod "team". That way we can discuss news and rumours with each other and divide our time equally to make sure a new article is posted more often on the site between us. Plus, you're likely to get information from a variety of sources if you're working in a team.

Re: We're hiring: News Mod Position Open
13th Jun 2012, 06:09 #6I see that there are a few others that volunteered before me, but I figured I'd still throw my hat in the ring.
So, I'd love to help! I'm pretty consistently active here, I have a lot of WordPress experience (I'm a web designer), and I think I'm a pretty good writer.
EDIT: That being said...I agree with Fundave that daftnews is a really good candidate for this position.Last edited by scutheotaku; 13th Jun 2012 at 06:14.

Re: We're hiring: News Mod Position Open
13th Jun 2012, 07:09 #7My vote goes to daftnews.
As far as having a team, perhaps have a form where any user can submit a potential news article for review. If it's news worthy it gets posted. Whoever gets hired for this position can moderate these user submissions and make their own stories.

Re: We're hiring: News Mod Position Open
13th Jun 2012, 19:25 #9I've had many WordPress blogs over the year, so I know how it works. I also have decent writing skills, but I don't like to brag. I also try to look at new Daft Punk updates frequently to keep in touch. I think I'm good for the position. I wouldn't say I'm the best, just trying to stay modest.
