Cheap advertising?

So I'm hoping to sell a load of old stuff to finance my working holiday in Australia and from my experience I've made very little profit selling items on ebay because of the expensive invoices that come to me at the end of the month. (If anyone can help me with how that system works I'd be very grateful)

So does anybody know of any cheap advertising solutions? Obviously, I'm hoping to make as much money as possible in case I fail to secure a job over there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone's interested, I'm selling a load of old games and DVDs. There are too many for me to name right now as it's nearly 1 o'clock in the morning for me but I'll be sure to put up a full list tomorrow.

Hmm, well there's always announcing things on Facebook,twitter, or the like; however for online ads it, of course, depends upon the cost per click. I have heard Google's 'adsense' is free, but I'm not exactly sure on just what it is or does.
