Sounds a bit like 'Rollin' & scratching'

If you keep listening, it leads on to their remix of Ian Pooley's Chord Memory, so well just assume thats where they got the sample from.

(P.s. I was just lurking at the time of this post - dont know if you consider this as flood or what have you - sorry)

i've listened to their mix of Chord Memory millions of times and i never heardd the sample used in their 1996 shows, and for the one on top, from Even Further, it actually leads to Rollin N Scratchin

Man that could be ANYTHING. Back then live house and techno artists would drop anything in their set if it sounded cool. It doesn't sound like anything I've heard before; they probably either: A) got it from a drum machine/sample CD (if they had any back then...) or B) Made it themselves and dropped it into their sampler.

    Yeah, this.
Some samples are just never going to be found.

If what you say is true, then it reminds me of their cover on CLM's "Can You Feel It" (Listen to the beginning of Musique from Live At Rex Club.)

Re: Daft Punk Live 1996 sample

It sounds really similar to a lot of their early stuff. there's sounds like that in alive, rollin' & scratchn', assault and other live sets. I think it might be a synth setting they use alot. they probably recorded a sample of it and then put it in for live sets.
    To the future

Yep, this could be true too. I think this is the most likely.
