My Volpin Thomas Helmet!

Okay, funny story behind this one, thought I would share.

Back in November of 2011, I was desperate. My holy grail of the stuff I wanted was a Volpin Thomas.....I mean, who hasn't wanted one now or then? It's not that I didn't like other builder's helmets, it was just the novelty of owning....A Volpin helmet. So I put out a desperate cry for help on this site.......I didn't expect to get any replies for one, considering a Volpin helmet is quite a rare occurrence. But, to my surprise, I got a message from a very kind member on this site. They stated that they had one that was all messed up. The heat from a chroming process had deformed the helmet, so he was willing to let it go for cheap. And I mean CHEAP. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity. 1 month later, it showed up at my doorstep.

When I opened the box, I was both excited and underwhelmed. The cast was pretty fudged up, but it was a Volpin cast!!!!!! The one I had always wanted! Yay!

So I got to work. I grabbed a hair dryer and started to fix the helmet. It involved bending some plastic here and there, but i eventually fixed it to a good state.

Fast forward 5 months. Seriously, this thing sat on my shelf for 5 months primed and ready for paint. I'm horrible, I know...but it's finally done. And I'm SO happy it is.

So here is the first shot of it. The whole helmet, including the paint and primer and all that garbage, cost me under 100 dollars. I want to thank Harrison Krix for finally giving me the chance to tribute my favourite member of Daft Punk, and I want to thank the member who sold it to me for giving me such an incredible opportunity.

I've been wanted one for about a year now........., it's at the top of my want list!

Anyway, it's nice seeing you complete a piece of art like that, got any front pics of it?!?!

The visor isn't in yet, that's why this pic is from the back!!!!!!!!

I'll do a full shoot once the helmet is fully completed, but I thought this was a cool shot to show you guys.

That's quite an amazing story, man. And the shot of it looks great! It looks pretty well crafted since you said it was pretty "fudged up" so you must've done a lot of work on that. So good work, man.

I was going to ask how tall are you? You think it would be good for a person who is about 5'6"/5'7"? :P

Maybe, that might be a little short. I'm 5'9, pretty thick build, and I still barely look good in it.

But you would be amazed how much padding can affect the look!
