The portal indeed, did lead to the Earth's moon. Thomas and Guy stood there on the lunar surface, they looked around, not knowing what to do. As they looked onto the Earth below, they could make out the unmistakable sight of mushroom clouds and explosions happening in both a large part of Europe, and the United States.
"Guy, w-what's going on down there? They're...they're killing each other..." Thomas seemed to be very frightened. Just after he said this, a satellite flew by, wearing a hammer and sickle insignia.
"I think I know...we've been transported to an alternate timeline where the Cold War never ended, and the US and the Soviet Union are raging nuclear war against one another." Guy's tone seemed to be one of disbelief and no hope. He sat down on the surface of the desolate rock, and immediately tried to think of a way to get off.
Just then, a blue London telephone box appeared out of nowhere, with it's doors open. Guy stood up and the two walked inside of it. Inside there was a vast array of computers and screens, as well as a large power sort of thing in the middle. There was a note, next to a button, that read "Push here." Guy didn't hesitate.
The door closed to the box, and in a split second, it landed in their next destination. Guy looked outside the door. Outside, there was a world made up of what looked to be lots of blue lines, accenting everything. The people walking around were wearing leather suits with bands of light in many places. Weird motorcycles drove along the roads.
"Thomas...I think we're on...the grid."

"Oh, puh-leese," groaned Thomas, as he got off of the plastic TRON-cycle. It turned out they were in an arcade, but they were the only ones there. They headed out the door to find out it was pouring rain.
"Taxi!" Guy cried out. The cab stopped and let them in.
"Thank you," said Thomas, out of breath. "We need a place to stay."
"How about the old inn downtown?" asked the taxi driver.
"Sure," replied Guy. Thomas nodded in approval.
The taxi driver turned on the radio. A weather advisory came on for thunderstorms and possible tornadoes in the area. "Thomas," whispered Guy.
"Did you hear the radio?" asked Guy.
"I did," replied Thomas.
"For our area," Guy repeated.
"Or so I've heard," Thomas replied once more.
The cab stopped. The two got out of the automobile and straight in to the hospitality of the inn, forgetting to pay the taxi driver. "Bite me," mouthed the taxi driver.

As soon as they got to their room they just collapsed on their beds and fell asleep. They didn't even get under the covers, they were too exhausted and too lazy. Both of them were out like lights, snoring as though possessed.
Guy awoke the next morning to a cold breeze that sent a chill down his spine. Still half asleep, he stared out the open window to try and predict the time. It was a few seconds before he realised that there was no window. Confused, he surveyed his surroundings only to realise that an entire face of the inn had been ripped off and was now just a pile of debris scattered along the street below. He stared down, open-mouthed, unable to comprehend the scene before him. Then a thought struck his mind. Where was Thomas?
"Thomas!" he shouted. He heard a muffled voice to his right. He scanned the room for the source of the noise and saw a hand protruding from behind a mattress that was pressed up against the wall. The ceiling from the floor above had caved in and a bath tub was stuck between the pile of rubble and the mattress. "Thomas!" he yelled in relief, clambering off the bed. As he moved, the floor gave way and the bed slid down onto the street below, exploding into pieces upon impact. Had he not instinctively grabbed onto the door handle he would have fallen 15 stories to an untimely death. His luck didn't last long however, as the door slowly opened allowing the rubble behind it to pour through. He grabbed the door handle on the other side with his right hand and hung there, not sure what to do.
Part of the floor on the other side of the room collapsed and the bath tub pinning Thomas to the wall fell into Guy, forcing the door to swing shut on his hand. He screamed and swung helplessly on the open door, desperately trying to hold his grip on the handle. How long could he possibly hold on for?
Just then, Thomas grabbed him by the arm and hauled him up to safety. "Are you alright?" he said. Guy nodded, panting heavily. He watched as blood trickled down his arm and soaked into his jacket.
"What the hell happened here?" Guy said when he finally caught his breath.
"Tornado" Thomas answered simply. He tore some cloth from the ruined mattress and handed it to Guy. "Here, wrap this around your hand," he said. He paused and looked around the ruined building. "Now how do we get out of here...?"

The two made their way through the debris filled streets. The city seemed empty. "There's no one around at all." said Guy. "Must have evacuated before the storm hit." Thomas said. They walked a few blocks down from the hotel, while Guy had insisted on playing "Make Love" on his iPod. "It's the perfect walking song!" he said. Thomas chuckled for a split second. He had stopped when he realized what he had just heard.
"Did you hear that, Guy?" "No, Thomas. What was it?" Thomas was standing perfectly still, avoiding any form of movement that would cause sound. "It almost sounded like....a growl" Thomas whispered. Looking down the street Guy noticed a shelter taking a few people in. "Let's hurry up and get over there." said Thomas. They quickly started walking towards the building.

As they entered the building, they saw an old man coming up from behind the counter approaching them.
"Who are you?" asked the man. "Why are you wearing costumes?"
"We're in a hurry," explained Guy. "Will you tell us where we are?"
"You're in Wichita, Kansas," the man replied. Guy and Thomas looked at each other.
"What was that growling noise we heard?" Thomas asked.
"Oh, that's probably the dog next door," the man explained.
The two walked out the door and headed down the street. As they looked at all the dust and dirt, Guy sighed. "Thomas", he said.
"This is really making me bummed," Guy replied.
"Me too," agreed Thomas.
They both looked ahead as they walked towards the crumbled cracks left behind.

They had a hard time making it through the rubble. They had to tread carefully to avoid seriously injuring themselves.
"How long have we been walking for?" Guy groaned, kicking aside somebody's fencepost.
"About an hour...although it feels like a decade with you repeating the same question every 10 seconds!" Thomas snapped. Guy shot him a hurt look but Thomas ignored him. "Okay, I'm sorry. We've both been through a lot these past couple of days, I'm getting a bit stressed is all."
Thomas tried to kick a small slab of concrete out of his way but misjudged the weight. He swore and bent down to clutch his ankle, losing his balance in the process. He hopped forward several times to try and steady himself before crashing to the ground.
"Are you alright?" asked Guy, as he rushed to the aid of his friend. "I heard a crack, is anything broken?" Thomas was still winded and was having difficulty replying. He had a few nasty cuts on his hands and knees but, on inspection, no broken bones. Guy grabbed Thomas by the arm and gently pulled him to his feet. He was breathing heavily, wincing as he put weight on his injured foot "Are you alright?" Guy asked again. Thomas nodded. "What was that noise?"
"I...I don't..." his breathing slowed down suddenly and his eyes opened wide. For a brief moment Thomas gazed into space and then frantically started feeling his pocket, his breathing increasing again. Guy looked confused as he saw Thomas, panic-stricken, trying to pull out whatever was in his pocket. Then he clocked on.
Thomas revealed the contents of his pocket: broken shards of plastic. They both made a strange noise reminiscent of both a scream and a sob.
The fourth album disc was broken.
Several minutes later they came to terms with their misfortune and buried the shards under a fallen tree nearby. As they lay it in the ground they uttered the words "your summer 2012 release date will be sorely missed," and each shed a single tear as they patted the soil.
"What are we going to do now?" asked Thomas.
"I guess we're going to have to go get the copy," Guy replied. Thomas perked up at the surprising news.
"There was a copy? I didn't know about this."
"Yeah, I had a feeling something like this was going to happen so I made a copy just in case. I left it the one place that nobody would ever think to look."
"So where are we going, Guy?" Thomas asked enthusiastically.
"Thomas, you and I are going to pay a trip...
...to Justin Bieber."

This thread needs a revival! I want to read Daft Punk's magical journey to find the world's most loved and most hated pop idol to retrieve the fourth album copy and continue their quest to release it to the public.
And I want it now!

Thomas gasped and held his chest. He stared at Guy blankly before he got down on his knees and started weeping. Guy looked down, speechless. He moved towards Thomas, kneeling down to comfort him, singing Digital Love softly.
"Stop," replied Thomas under his breath. Guy sealed his lips and stood up. He reached his hand out to Thomas, helping him up.
A moment of silence came in between the two, until Thomas took off his helmet and set it on the ground. He smiled a little which turned into a maniacal grin. He started laughing evilly, taking off his robot costume, throwing it towards Guy. He put his arms up in the air as the sun turned dark, like an eclipse. He moved his arms toward the ground, making the rubble and broken remains from the buildings fly into the air and surround him.
Guy started to tremble nervously, backing away. Thomas jumped and did a flip into the ring of destruction, floating in mid-air. He started to spin around, revealing some pop-star clothes. As he spun, some Bieber music began to play. He stopped and fell onto the ground with his two feet, revealing his true identity.
Thomas was Justin Bieber.
