Needless Noise Master Thread
18th Aug 2012, 09:34 #1I have a lot of stuff that I plan to work on in the coming months, and I knew I'd wanna share it all with you guys (I've made a couple threads for my stuff already), but that would be a lot of threads. So I'm just gonna post it all here, for whomever is interested. Some stuff I'm working on right now:
My friend is doing a rap EP, I'm making some EDM-inspired beats for him.
I'm working on covers of Aphex Twin song using only piano, drums, and subbass.
I'm doing Alive 2012, a "recreation" of what a Daft Punk set might sound like if they did one now. Whenever the new album comes out I'll work that in.
an EP of my music, called the Apologies EP, release date to be announced
- Birth
- Spectrum (Remix of Zedd)
- Imagine (Remix of John Lennon)
- Baby Don't Go
- Myers (feat. Tre'on X. Bell) (a rapper friend of mine)
- Super
Other tracks I'm working on/plan on doing:
- Creeper
- Jam Shredding
- Crave You (Remix of Flight Facilities)
- Lazy Eye (Remix of Silversun Pickups)
- Binary (Remix of James Rosen)
- Something About The Night (Remix of James Rosen)
- D.A.N.C.E. (Remix of Justice)
- One More Night (Remix of Maroon 5)
I'll mainly use this thread for my original tunes, big things like Alive 2012 and if I ever release a full album will warrant new threads, but this thread is a convenient place to keep everyone updated on the tunes, which will hopefully come often! (and having people looking forward to my stuff, might motivate me to finish it faster haha)

19th Aug 2012, 01:50 #3Nice, Double N. Looking forward to seeing all your future material on this one thread. From what i've heard so far of your stuff, your really freakin' talented man, so Im curious as to see what your future stuff will sound like. And this Alive 2012 thing you're doing is pretty awesome too. Also, finally got to listen to Aphex Twin, so now I can fairly judge your Aphex Twin covers. And they still sound great compared to the original tracks. Good luck in your future music make-age.

Re: Needless Noise Master Thread
19th Aug 2012, 02:24 #4I'm working on the Analogue Bubblebath cover right now, next is the Isoprophlex cover.
I was originally gonna do all the tracks in order, but after this I think I'll go in a slightly more random order. Aphex Acoustic: Vol 1 will be up on bandcamp as soon as I finish all of the tracks, and it'll probably go:
1. Xtal
2. On
3. IZ-US
4. 4
5. Blur
6. Milkman
7. I'm Self Employed
8. Analogue Bubblebath
9. Isoprophlex
10. Heliosphan
11. Polynomial-C
12. Mold
13. Actium
Thanks a bunch!
Thanks! I'm gonna try to balance my really intense party dance stuff with slower downtempo/ambient stuff, so you can all look forward to that!
Thanks, I should actually be getting back to that really soon!
I sound great, even compared to Aphex Twin? That's a huge compliment, I appreciate it!

Re: Needless Noise Master Thread
21st Aug 2012, 09:05 #5Okay, I added something else to my already long to do list, a remix albim of Bon Iver's self-titled album. There's a remix contest for it on indaba, but win or not, I'm doing this. So here's what I got so far.

Thoughts?
EDIT: you have got to be ****ING joking. that remix was the first track I've really SAT DOWN to work on in...I don't even know how long, and spend hours doing, then an hour into Beth/Rest, Live crashes. I re-open, attempt to recover, and it crashes again seconds later. now I can't seem to recover the file. **** EVERYTHING. Gotta start over and recreate it...Last edited by needlessnoise; 21st Aug 2012 at 11:35.

Remade the Lisbon, OH, it's longer, the bass isn't just a sub there's a smooth mid bass in there, etc.
That's really just the arrangement of Beth/Rest right now. I'll get to adding a sub bass, and some original synths soon enough.
EDIT: and the two will be fun to mash up live http://soundcloud.com/needlessnoise/...-remix-vs-bethLast edited by needlessnoise; 21st Aug 2012 at 21:47.

Re: Needless Noise Master Thread
22nd Aug 2012, 03:10 #7Alright here's what you have to look forward to. Next thing I post will be:
Bon Iver Remix Album:
1. Lisbon, OH
2. Beth/Rest
3. Michicant
4. Minnesota, WI
5. Perth
then 5 tracks to go, and I'll put it all on bandcamp
this will all be continuous mix so you can listen start-to finish without gaps
Aphex Twin Piano Covers
1. I'm Self Employed
2. Analogue Bubblebath
3. Isoprophlex
Should I call it Aphex Acoustic, or Acoustic Twin?
The first "volume" of these will have 13 tracks and go on bandcamp.
Other:
Apologies EP (Preview)
1. Spectrum (Remix of Zedd)
2. Myers (Instrumental Draft)
3. Super
Thanks for all the replies.
...I kid

22nd Aug 2012, 23:37 #8lol, you're very welcome for all dem replies. This is a seemingly endless debate on politics and religion, it's pretty intense discussion.
But in all seriousness, looking forward to hearing all these, just hoping you're not overwhelming yourself with all of these projects you're doing, cos it's a helluva lot of stuff.

Re: Needless Noise Master Thread
23rd Aug 2012, 12:36 #9My sig applies here.
Eh, I've been slacking on music past couple months. I'm eager to get working on my live show, but before I can do that I need lots of original music, because I wanna do sets of all-originals (including remixes, of course) instead of being a glorified DJ. and the nature of my vision for the setup will involve a lot of stuff to work with.
Things like Alive 2012 and the Aphex Twin stuff are fun side projects that will probably develop slowly over time. Especially Alive 2012 since I gotta update it when the album comes out, anyway, haha. This doesn't mean I can't integrate them into sets though. Alive more than Aphex, I'll be using little bits of them in my shows. Little bits, like using a minute or two of a couple of the Alive mashups during a set, not like having 25% DP mashups, haha. Or layering an aphex melody I liked. Even now I'm considering turning some piano parts from particularly interesting parts of Aphex Acoustic (or Acoustic Twin) and turning them into synths to mix with original stuff.
I'm ranting now, as usual. Point is, I'm making up for two months of inactivity and getting tons of **** ready, with my live sets in mind.
