La Roux13th May 2014, 12:43 #1
The old La Roux thread is gone, so I guess I'll start another one because of the new album.
La Roux are an English synthpop duo composed of singer, keyboardist, co-writer and co-producer Elly Jackson, and co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid. Jackson describes their relationship as "very much a half and half sharing situation [...] not like a singer producer outfit", but also recognizes that due to her prominence, it may "look like a solo act".
La Roux's music is influenced by 1980s British synthpop acts including Yazoo, Erasure, Depeche Mode, OMD, The Human League,Heaven 17 and Eurythmics. The band's name refers to Jackson's red hair and tomboyish appearance, mingling the masculine (le roux) and feminine (la rousse) French terms.
Their debut album La Roux was released on June 26, 2009, and peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. It includes the hit singles "In for the Kill" and "Bulletproof", which reached numbers two and one on the UK Singles Chart, respectively. The album was nominated for the 2009 Mercury Prize, and won Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on 13 February 2011.

I love them. I've been waiting for them to come back for so very long ever since Bulletproof and I'm Not Your Toy. This new song sounds like Sinéad O'Connor's "Nothing Compares to You", and I love it! I'm more excited for this album than Deadmau5' or Porter's. [The latter is a stretch].

To be honest I knew nothing about the new album yet. I almost wrote "their album" but it's not a duo anymore o_O Okay most people always thought that it's a solo act but now that's just her I'm kinda dissapointed about what she said about the split: "On the first record we would talk a lot and it became very emotional. One of [Langmaid's] biggest roles was [being that person] I could go and talk to about lots of very personal stuff at length and then write about. But for want of a better way of saying it, I didn't need that any more. I felt I could do that with a number of people." ... Yeah.. sounds a little bitchy to me... Anyway the new stuff sounds great and I will lock forward to it. And I think it's very interesting how it goes on now just with her...
